The 2nd season of Jack Ryan portrays Venezuela as a failed state with a corrupt and criminal president who needs to be replaced. In our own real world, the Trump administration views Venezuela as a failed state with a corrupt president who should be replaced.
So, is this season an endorsement of current US policy toward Venezuela?
The "good guys" in this season are gun toting CIA agents who feel free to kill whoever they need to. Are we back to cheering for yankee imperialism, enforced by violence, meddling in Latin America?
If this season was supposed to be mindless entertainment about the daring-do of the CIA and nothing political intended, the season missed the mark by picking the politically charged country of Venezuela as its focus.
