This Time,It's Personal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splinter Cell Conviction is not like the game you remember. It's a fully revamped fast paced, fast action reinvention of the franchise and it's not really all that bad.Sam Fisher's daughter is murdered, and causes him to leave Third Echelon to find answers, but is ultimately pulled back into the spy game by an old colleague. To deal with his enemies Sam has become faster and far more agile than before. He can literally run along the sides of buildings, and has a new mark and execute system lets you designate multiple targets and eliminate them perfectly with the touch of a button. At times it can make the game seem a little too easy. But you have to recharge your execute power by hand to hand combat after using it.If Fisher is caught in the middle of a maneuver he can still try to dash to the shadows for a quick getaway. If your successful in regaining stealth,a ghost image of Fisher will appear where he was last spotted, giving you a visual reference to where the enemies will be concentrating there attention and perhaps allowing you to attempt a surprise attack from a different angle. Also there are lots of guns to choose from, the game seems like more of an action shooter than a stealth game at times. The stream line control scheme works very well, and moving Sam around seems more intuitive than the previous game. You might be tempted to run and gun alot more than you should, but the game will quickly deliver you a humbling lesson. Some people will say that this is not real Splinter Cell game, and they might have a point, there is no hacking, lock picking or moving dead bodies around, but you can still torment your enemies and pull off some pretty sweet kills.2 player co-op is back with a solid story mode that serves as a prequel to Sam's solo mission.Agents Archer and Coste provide a counter point to the versions of events in Sam's campaign, and features a twist at the end.If your a fan of stealth action games add this to the collection.

Better than expected!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this was as good if not better than the other splinter cells i think the controls were alot better than splinter cell double agent i found the controls for double agent to be sluggish but on conviction they were fluid and the graphics were great havent really played multiplayer alot but from what i have played it a whole other game. what i didnt like was that it felt short maybe its just me but i thought it should have been longer i still give it 5 0f 5

Great 3rd person shooter with a unique feel.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can understand how some people aren't excited about the length of the storyline. But it was longer than games like Bourne Conspiracy and Quantum of Solace. It wasn't terribly long. But at the same time it feels like if it was longer, it would've felt drawn out. The controls are good, but you might need to get used to it. They are different (for example: pressing LT does not do anything for aiming a gun like in most games). Although the storyline isn't terribly creative, the variety of things in missions make the game exciting. You rarely encounter the same challenges or objectives. Finally, it was one game that felt like it nailed the difficulty levels. The easiest difficulty wasn't so easy that it was boring. There were times where I needed to restart a few times after getting killed. And I'm not a terrible gamer. And intermediate and difficult settings are sure to challenge those who go for it. Overall. It's a game worth getting. If you rent it, you should be able to beat it within a week. But it's fun enough to revisit afterwards.

Great game; horrible load times
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fun and challenging game; plenty of challenges and ways to complete levels. The biggest downside is waiting to start or restart the missions.

An amazing action title
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a splinter cell title like no other. If you are new to the series prepare for one of the most exhilarating and satisfying action games you've ever picked up. Veterans to the series like my self might find gripes with some of the new gameplay elements that were swapped out for the new. For example Sam now in later levels has to administer multiple head shots to down an enemy which sometimes proved annoying. The graphics in SC:Conviction arent bad and actually in someplaces their awe inspiring but its kind of odd that they chose to develep the game using the Unreal Engine 2 Which is really dated and lacks the capabilites of some more recent engines.

Sam Fisher is finally back
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story alone is very good as you would come to expet from the splinter cell series, and this one is the best thus far. The game is rather short though in both single player and co-op. The co-op story is a fun bit before or after you finish the single player game. But there are a few glitches that Ubi knows of and is suppose to be making apatch for and will be released hopefully soon. If you liked the others pick it up, ifyou haven't played any of them yet and been wondering if you should; now is the time to do so.

great game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To Parents: my 13 year old son has been obsessing about this game since he knew it was coming out (about a year ago). at first i didnt want him to get it because of the mature rating, but i have found its not all that bad. hes been getting good grades all through middle school, and i knew how much he wanted this game, so i let him rent it. we played part of one of the co op missions, and i saw that it was actually a really fun game and not very innapropriet. i wached him play the first level of the normal game where you play as sam fisher, and it still wasn't that bad. it has violence in it like small amounts of blood spatter when you shoot an enemy but thats about all. there is some un-needed language, but it isnt constant. and parents, this is NOT a shooting game! this is the reason why i didnt want my son to have it, i thought it was just another violent shooting game like call of duty modern warfare two which i wont let him have, but its actually a strategy game. you have to be stealthy and act quick wuthout being caught, but it involves strategy; you cant just try to be bad running around shooting people in the face, (believe me if it was like that i would take it away in an instant!) you have to plan out your attacks. now it is rated mature for a reason, which is violence, for example you can sneek up behind someone and snap their neck, i dont like that you can hear a slight crack, but its not really anything worse than what you would see in a pg 13 movie. trust me, if you let your kids have this game they will absolutely love you. to keep control just tell them no playing splinter cell until after all homework is done. for all those usualy over-protective parents like me, this is not call of duty, or bad company 2- have a heart and just make one exception, just this once for a mature game. i would say this is probaly the best xbox game of the year- dont make your kids miss out.

Some will love it, Others, wil not
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After playing the game, and continuing to do so, I can say the games is good but nowhere near great. I enjoy a lot of the new features, and co-op mode is a blast, however the game is missing a lot. The traditional feel of Splinter Cell has totally gone out the window, and the new black and white system is exactly what I don't want. Every time you are hidden in a dark area the screen loses all color and becomes a mess of black, white and mostly gray. One would think that with the games superb color visual effect would stop designers from doing such a thing, however they do not. Early in the game the user experiences the new interrogation, and unfortunately this will be one of the few times. One of the best features in the game, the new system allows you to use objects in the immediate area to coerce enemies into giving you information. Like said though, these interactions are very limited throughout the game. The last thing that users should note is that this is not your run-of-the-mill Splinter Cell. Ubisoft has done almost complete u-turn from the stealth adventure series with this game. I personally like the old ones better, however its still a decent game.

Good game, single player too short
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Conviction is a good, but not great game. I beat the single player on realistic difficulty in a day and a half. It does have plenty of other game modes, but most are co-op based. If you are a single player campaign player like myself this is a rent, but if you have friends with the game it is a worthy of a buy

Awsome Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this game. It is very challanging and has a lot more options from previous Splinter Cell games. I wish that they would have left a few of the things the same such as the controls and the option to either knock out or stab victims. Other than those items I love this game and would recommend it to anyone looking for a true challange.

Welcomed game in the series
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Game itself is a welcomed end or next in line to the Splinter Cell games. The graphics are excelent compared to the other games in the series. Sam Fishers movements are faster, which makes the game faster paced and more exciting. all in all the game is a excellint choice for Sam Fisher'ists.

I LOVED IT!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game picks up pretty much where double agent left off, Sam is done with his work at 3rd Echelon and is now a free man, however. When someone is trying to hunt him down, he quickly becomes the killer he once was and jumps right back into action. This game seems a lot more hands on than that of previous splinter cells, my favorite thing about the old splinter cell games was the stealth and timing aspects of the game. This game seems to abandon those traits (not completely) and go for a more "run and gun" style. Although you can still be stealthy if you choose (which I do). The online maps that you can play as a co-op are fun, but don't despair if you don't have a friend! You can play them on your own with three different "missions" under "Deniable Ops". So overall this game is very fun, I would recommend it, But I don't think I would pay $60 for it. I had a gift card and used that to pay for a portion of this game, I would say it's defiantly worth $45 however. So PLAY AWAY!!! :)

Not what I expected.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I realize that people love this game. I am not one of those people. There is something about this game that I just don't like. The controls are horrible. The weapons are useless. I doubt it takes 12 shots to bring someone down. If you play Gears of War or Modern Warfare, than this game is not going to thrill you. I wouldn't give this a 9.3 rating such as other websites. I would have to give it a 7.3. This shouldn't even be up for game of the year either. Sorry. Wanted to like it but it didn't turn out the way I expected. Some thing needed to be changed. Ubisoft is a fantastic company. I don't know what happened on this game.

Fun game that mixes stealth and action
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This time around Splinter Cell ups the action. That's not to say the stealth elements that made past games so great are no longer there. Very fun and couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I game was worth it for the price, but very short

Awesome game!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game was great! You actually have to think about the moves that you're going to make, rather than just run up to people and kill them. It is a very challenging game at times, but very fun to play...I'd highly recommend this!
