For a GPS it is very easy to program

This version is much easier to program and the voice tells you where to turn much more accurately than the previous version. We took this Tom Tom on a trip out west and it was very helpful.

I am used to an older version TOMTOM Go and haven't been able to get used to the new menu system. I can see it has a lot of improvements, but it takes a bit longer to find your way to the "advanced" functions.

Bigger screen and lifetime traffic and maps. Learned after I got it home that you had to sync it to a phone. What if that phone is not with you? Also did not like the format for inputting addresses, etc. It has changed from the old way TomTom did it. Understand that I have always had TomTom GPS units, I have a Via 1535TM myself. Wound up returning it and just keeping the old one for the wife.

For the sake of other readers, our research has shown that the majority of our customers have smartphones and a data connection they can use to receive the TomTom services, which delivers live information about traffic and safety cameras on your route.
As for the search, we have tried to make search as easy as possible by implementing many different ways of searching for a destination. You can, for example, search for a specific address, a partial address, a city or zip code and even the type of place, e.g. restaurant.

This gps took me over 50 miles out of the way the first time I used it. It took 1.5 hours to get to a destination that was 30-45 min away. I wish I knew before hand how horrible TomTom's were. Very difficult to input information and gets you lost! Stick with a garmin.

Do NOT through your receipt away, you too will be bringing it back..I tried to select no stars, but it wouldn't let me.

With regret I read about your disappointment with the TomTom GO 50. It is true that you cannot receive life traffic information if you do not have connected your device to a smartphone. However, apart from that, the device functions as a navigational device even if you did not connect it to your smartphone. It then just does not receive life services anymore. Posted .Hi hewfam, I applogize for the experience. We were trying to simplify search by having everything on one screen and allowing users to search in whichever way they desire. For example, if you are navigating to "456 Main St Somewhere, NY", you can start typing "456 Mai" and the device will give a list of suggestions of addresses in order of distance from location. Please note that addresses are shown on the left side of ten screen and POIs on the right. We will continue monitoring our users feedback regarding search and make adjustments if necessary; therefore I will share your comments with the relevant teams.
