He needs the large screen to be able to see well, and this screen's contrast and finish make it excellent to use any time of day or night.

This is my 3rd GPS and it is the first to do this, making it easier to find my destination. My only issue is that it dings at random stop lights.

Now you did mention you don't like some of the warning sounds, you should be able to adapt this on the device: Menu > Settings > Safety Settings. I needed it to drive around San Diego and the feature of lane by lane directions worked to help me get around. The set up and uploading was easy when I first used it.

Great purchase for my 83-year-old mom.

The pressure required to get it to accept an input is just to great to be usable. Returned the product and went with a Garmin instead.
