Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the Canvio Slim II's ease of use, ample storage space, and compact size. Many appreciate its affordable price and fast transfer speeds via USB 3.0. Positive feedback also highlights its lightweight and sleek design. However, some users experienced compatibility issues, particularly with Mac systems, and found the included software less than intuitive.

i've never used it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was basically 'scared' into purchasing it when I took my laptop in to the Geek Squad for a basic 'cleaning'. The "Geek" strongly suggested that I purchase it in order to back up my files. I informed him that I've had computers for several years and have never had a problem with losing info; i.e,. pictures, which was what he was mentioning. I'm not sure how it exactly happened but I ended up purchasing this product and 'something' else "that went with it" and I'm not happy about it. A second "Geek" started talking to me like I was the village idiot - saying that it was like driving your car into the garage.... I was so frustrated by this time that I was literally crying as I left the store. I am NOT a satisfied customer!

Won't restore my data after laptop factory reset
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased to back-up my laptop before returning it to Best Buy under warranty. Best Buy did a factory reset on my laptop & once I got it back, I went to restore my data I had stored on the Toshiba device. However, it asked me to re-register the product again (I assume since I now had a different MAC address that the device did not recognize), which I attempted to do, but it came back saying that the device was already registered. The device shows that it is half full of data but I cannot access it. Plan B is to contact Toshiba to solve the problem.

Get something better for few more bucks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only used this a few times and the input got to where I have keep unplugging it and plugging it back in to get it to work. No abuse on my end. Just a bad product.

Posted .Thank you for the review, Chano, and sorry to hear about the connection reliability problem.
It seems very possible that your drive came with a marginally defective USB cable, but another possibility worth investigating is that the USB port on the device that you're connecting the drive to is putting the USB port to sleep after some timeout period when it isn't actively being used.
If you determine that the problem is with the drive or its included cable, you can initiate the warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime during its warranty term.
Thanks again for the feedback and for choosing Toshiba.

Posted .Thank you for the review, nk1993, and sorry to hear that you had ran into some sort of problem with your Canvio Slim II hard drive.
I wonder what you mean by saying that everything on the drive was erased, and whether you're using the NTFS driver with your Mac or reformatted the drive to a native Mac OS format. Drive corruption resulting in loss of files can be caused by a number of factors, including system instability which can lead to files not being properly saved, disconnection of the device with write-caching enabled, malware infection or simply a failing hard drive.
If the drive proves to be defective, you can initiate the warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime within its 3-year warranty.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Great For Wii U
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a reasonably sized hard drive for your Wii U, I cannot recommend this one enough. It's very reliable and quiet. It's small footprint and black casing allow it to blend it very easily wherever you have your Wii U set up. It does require a 3.0 USB Y-cable, but those can be ordered online quite easily (as Best Buy does not seem to carry them in-store).

Efficient and great size
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love how tiny and fast this external drive is. I bought two of them. Given how small these are and how cost-efficient, there's no excuse not to back up each computer to at least two external drives. Don't risk losing your information!

No directions to install in Mac; returned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Says compatible w/ Mac, but all instructions are for installing in PC. I couldn't install, and Best Buy clerk couldn't find how either, said I'net instructions no good. I had to return for credit.

Great product but software difficult to figure out
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm good at using computers, always helping other family members with their computers, but found the software quite difficult to understand and use. It was just confusing and difficult to figure out, I had to spend a lot of time messing with it before I was confident my files were stored properly on the hard drive. Otherwise though it's great, it's SO thin and small - love that. I highly recommend purchasing this.
