I had done quite a bit of research before finally settling on this model. After picking it up and spending some time transferring my files and getting the settings straight, it was time to finally start using it. I have to say, the screen is beautiful...on top of that, the batter has been great so far, the keyboard is very smooth and the backlight for it is perfect. I have never had an internal SSD before and WOW am I happy I went for one. To start up the laptop (including entering my password) it takes less than 10 seconds. The shut down is even faster. Having something this light and portable is great as well. This laptop has to be half the weight of my last one and SIGNIFICANTLY faster. If you are on the fence, I definitely suggest giving this bad boy a try.

Great 2-N-1, only 1 minor short-coming

I've had several different Toshiba laptops over the years and finally decided to upgrade my latest; with a generation one "Core I7" processor. After looking at several others, including two of the big name brands, I decided to stay with Toshiba. With all the new hype over the 2-n-1's, after doing the research, with the features / over-all size / Solid State Hard-Drive. Two weeks after receiving and starting to use my 2-N-1, I learned how critical the Solid State Hard-Drive was; wife was passing it to me and it slid across the car seat and bounced onto the floor. No Damage and everything was working just as new.
The only draw-back is when you flip the screen into "tablet" mode there's no keyboard, not even on the screen. So if you want to make any notes, you're forced to flip back to laptop mode.

Fun Computer for Business

This is an overall great computer for business usage. It is certainly not a great gaming computer because of the graphics card, but for business this is great. The screen is good, if a little less bright than some (but as bright as most). The 4K is awesome for some things - but problematic for some programs that are not prepared for such pixel density (even when zoomed in some programs have things so tiny you can barely see them). Overall, though, I am happy with the computer and features.

Minimal reviews on this product when I was researching laptops. First time with a SSD. Did not boot properly the first time I turned it on, had to do a hard shutdown, and then started properly. So far, it has been working great. Nice picture. Getting use to Windows 10.

Completely satisfied with this purchase. The only drawback is having to change resolution for apps that don't scale to 4k. Minor inconvenience being that it restarts in 6 seconds.

I decided to switch from a mac to a windows laptop because I wanted a 2in1 computer. Mobility, solid state hard drive, 3.0 GHz processor and at least 16 GB of memory were key elements in the specs I wanted.
My first disappointment was discovering that the device came with a 2.5 GHz processor. I took it back to Best Buy and the Geek Squad rep told me that it was a typo (on Best Buy's website) and I could return it if I wanted to. Since I had already transferred some of my stuff and needed a computer and this was the only one that met most of the requirements I had, I kept it.
I got the laptop at the end of January and tried to return it to Best Buy again in the first week of March. Unfortunately for me the 2 weeks (return policy) had expired. Toshiba gave a similar response. Eventually I walked out of Best Buy with a new Mac-book pro.
This second visit was triggered by some bug that infected the computer although McAfee is installed and was running. I was doing some online research and suddenly got hit by and onslaught of popups. I tried uninstalling the program I thought was responsible, but that did not work.
Despite the fact that the computer has a solid state hard disk, it is still noisy. Note I hear no noise from this mac I am now using. Secondly, for those specs, the computer did not function how I expected it to; my 8GB Mac-book responded much better during online research or loading Facebook pages. Thirdly, the keypad needs work. It selects items that are not intended for selection. That was especially annoying.
Putting out almost $3,000 for a mac is a lot, and I hoped to save by switching to windows; instead I spent close to $4,500.
If you use your computer a lot/ cannot do without it, and need it to function really well all the time, it may be a risky move to get this machine.

For my job, I needed a laptop that could not only double as a tablet, but could handle the numerous programs I need to run simultaneously. This computer does just that and more. It is fast loading my programs, the 4K is unbelievable, it's thin and sleek, and the list goes on and on. I would highly recommend if you need an editing computer of any sort.

Large touchscreen has great color and quality. It was easy to configure for my needs. Only negative is getting a black screen twice. We had to call Toshiba who gave us a key/power sequence to follow, which resolved the problem each time.

I purchased this item in January. Started experiencing problems with the computer within 3 weeks. The computer just shuts down regardless of whether any software other than Window is running or not. Toshiba has been absolutely help and refuses to assist with the issue even though it has only been a month. Best Buy's return policy is 15 days. I absolutely would not purchase this item.

Brand response from ToshibaStaff

Thank you for the review, ScottM, and sorry to hear about the shut down problem.
I'm very surprised to hear that Toshiba has refused to help resolve the problem, since our computer support line at 800-457-7777 is available just to help with any product problem. (Is that the number you dialed?)
Most issues are resolved over the phone, but agents at that number can also assist with warranty repair arrangements if they aren't able to solve the problem any other way. I encourage you to call 800-457-7777 for help.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

74k Screen wonderful, outstanding speed with Skylake I7 processor, fast start up. Brightness is much better than the Lenovo Yoga 900. Best Buy should carry this model in the store, purchased online. Arrived a bit late, but overall good experience.

Best Laptop Ever!

I have to admit, I'm blown away by the udder speed of this 512 SDD! Super fast start ups and very quick shut downs. The lit keyboard is really nice to type on. Keys feel very easy on your digits! All applications open quickly with ease. I like that it's a fully functional monitor that can be folded into many viewing angles.
Amazing sharp contrasting images. Excellent color tone. The glossy monitor is actually easy on the eyes. Does not show as much glare as other glossy monitors. Really nice speakers for a laptop. You could easily watch a movie or listen to music without feeling cheated.
Great track pad. Nice locations for the USB ports. Love it in tablet mode!
Convenient volume up and down buttons on the side like an iPad. Awesome touch screen. So much to love about this computer. Very quiet since you don't have to listen to a fan all the time cooling an HHD.
SSD is all about the speed and safety of your Hard drive if you were to ever drop it. Plus, it's a sharp looking chassis. Couldn't be happier with my purchase... worth every penny. I really shopped around and kept coming back to this model.

Highest quality laptop I have purchased in a while

I purchase a new laptop every year, and this is the best one I have bought in a long time (I say this also as a former Retina MacBook Pro user, not going back to that garbage):
+ Gorgeous 4K screen
+ Full size backlit keyboard
+ Core i7 + SSD = FAST
+ Brushed metal has a true premium feel
- Vents on the back of the laptop can sometimes make your legs hot during peak usage, I prefer having vents on the side but it seems ultrabooks these days like to put it on the back
- Average battery life, maybe 5-6 hours at best. I know this is a 4K laptop with high end specs so it is power hungry and for that reason I didn't knock it down a star.
- Toshiba drivers page doesn't have an entry for this laptop nor the non-SSD version (P55W-C5316) to get updated drivers from. I reformatted Windows 10 and it found most drivers from Windows update, but not all. Honestly Toshiba, that is just sloppy...

I was looking for a reasonably priced laptop (didn't care that it was also a tablet) with a larger screen and a solid-state drive. This product met all my qualifications. It has been excellent from start-up! It turns on from suspend in less than 2 seconds and browsing the internet is so much faster than my other laptop. I've owned HP and Toshiba in the past and have had no complaints with either brand. The display is remarkable--it is very crisp and since I'm getting older, the larger screen size is great. It doesn't come with a bunch of software that you have to uninstall and you get a full year of McAfee antivirus free. With a solid-state drive there are none of the huge disadvantages of a hard-drive, it's quiet, super slim, very light, the battery lasts forever and there's no overheating--I've left it on all day on a leather couch and found it to be cool to the touch! If this is in your price range, it's the one I'd choose. Again, I've owned both HP and Toshiba and have been extremely satisfied with each brand.

I got this laptop and returned within 10 days. On day one when I switched it on I noticed that it was restarting for couple of times with no reason I thought it could be because of some software update and left it. Then I noticed that it was happening repeatedly. Also the touch pad was not functioning within a week.
Yes as you all think I thought it could be because of virus Called Toshiba care for help and they said we can reset the laptop and check it. I said fine and asked them the procedure to reset. They informed I need to pay 35-50$ in order to reset the laptop. Also I told them its brand new and even I have an option of returning or going for a new one or get my money so asked them to reset the laptop with free of cost.
But they where not ready to do. So just returned it. Thanks to BEST Buy.
Pros
Laptop is good in terms of display, look and weight
Cons
Very poor battery not more than 3 - 4hrs when it is brand new. Think of what happens when its old.
Poor performance might be due to virus which I am not sure.
Too Costly.

Great replacement for my home computer

Did a lot of research before-hand as I was looking for a tablet/2n1 to replace my office tower unit that had a hard-drive that was starting to concern me. My key demands were (1) fast processor, (2), great display detail, (3) quick start-up(4) SS hard drive,(5) portability, and back lite keyboard. This Toshiba meets all those needs and much more. The startup speed is amazing as is the large screen and display detail when streaming videos, etc. I find it great to use in the tablet mode when watching TV or movies, but it's great to use anywhere in my house to replace my old tower. I'd definitely buy this again.
