    DONT BUY, HARDWARE IS BROKEN

    Posted
    Ramtej

I'm very disappointed with this product. At first it seemed like it was good and it was simple to set up, but within a few days I started to notice that the 2.4 gHz network would say that my password was incorrect or it was fail to connect completely. If I rebooted my router then it would work fine for a period of about 24-48hrs. Each time that it failed it would require that I go onto the router site and reboot it. This is not an anomaly... I contacted customer support after being fed up with restarting my router EVERYDAY... they sent me a replacement. I received after about 15 days or so and I set it up and it worked fine for about 1 hr and then my 5.0 gHz network disappeared.... I tried everything restored to factory settings and rebooted it multiple times. I called the customer service and they told me to change the channels on the network... I was sitting right next to my router (2 feet away) and my brand new laptop couldn't pick up the 5.0gHz signal at all. Eventually the customer service rep agreed to send me another replacement... another 15 days went by and the package came.. they sent me a refurbished router... ok whatever I decided id try it out and see if it works.. I set it up and it worked.... for 4 hrs... and the 2.4gHz network says incorrect password or network failed to connect and if i reboot it works fine again.... THERE IS SOMETHING INTRINSICALLY WRONG WITH THE HARDWARE.... This is unacceptable... 3 different devices having the same error... I followed the setup step by step from the guide they provided... I contacted my service provider to check if there were any firmware updates that i needed.. I replaced the coaxial cable.... NOPE!!! This product itself is faulty and I'm very disappointed that this is how its turning out... The customer service individuals were nice enough to send me two replacements, but whats the point of the replacements when the HARDWARE ITSELF IS BROKEN... SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSWEWHERE...

I used to be a full-on geek and would spend hours reading up on devices before buying, then tinkering with them for hours until I found weak points. Not now, with a family and a job that suck up all my "free time" I can't do that as often as before. When I realized that it was time to stop giving money away to comcast for "renting" their modem, a quick search on amazon and best buy narrowed it down for me to 3 devices, and out of them, this one came up on top due to the overall good, solid reviews, the price point, and the feature list. After weeks of use, I'm happy to report NO issues. haven't had any slowdowns or signal drops (used to happen a LOT when using 2 or more devices at a time with Comcast's router). As I'm writing this, my laptop is wireless, wife is streaming videos on the PC (also wireless) an old music player is playing (also wireless) and my little boy is streaming Amazon videos (wired) and nobody seems to have any issues. Oh, my cell phone is also connected and running updates and what not... all smooth sailing. setup was a breeze (less than 15 minutes) and the instructions to make custom adjustments (or just leave the basic setup as is) are clear and to the point. Great product, great performance, and easy to setup and maintain. Also gives you the option to go deeper into the options and setup advanced networking and parental controls. what else can you ask for? it will pay itself in just a few short months, and I'm not tied up to mediocre cable company equipment.

Save on Fees & get Better Performance!

This is a review of a free product received by TP-LINK as part of the review program. If you're like me, then you can't stand being nickeled & dimed to death with fees from your cable provider. Although many are finding out more & more as time goes on, you do have another option! Unlike your set top box (DVR) you do have the option of owning your own cable modem. By doing so, you will eliminate the monthly rental fee attached to your bill. Not only that, you can get a modem that offers greater performance than the one offered by your cable company. What makes the CR700 attractive is, not only are you getting a high performance cable modem, that you own & therefore aren't paying for every month, it also bundles in a high end WiFi router too! This enables you to get rid of a bunch of different boxes & just have an all in one, high-speed solution. I love not having to give the cable company more money than I have too, but what I love even more is being able to satisfy all the data hogs in my household! Thanks to the CR700, everyone can do their own thing without impacting each other. One can be streaming music, another streaming / binge watching, another gaming on the Xbox One, another online shopping & myself living on my Nexus 6P (yes. I'm a smartphone junkie). I have no complaints with the CR700. It performs well, eliminated cable & box clutter, but best of all it actually saves me money each month!

This cable modem supports DOCSIS. Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS is an international telecommunications standard that permits the addition of high-bandwidth data transfer to an existing cable TV (CATV) system. It is employed by many cable television operators to provide Internet access (see cable Internet) over their existinghybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) infrastructure. The various standards are sometimes abbreviated to Dx, as in a "D3 modem" (DOCSIS 3 modem). I tried this modem with XFINITY from Comcast. It has six internal antennas and high-powered amplifiers boost signal strength and reduce interference. Dual USB ports support access files & media from networked devices. Speedtest revealed 60 Mbps with my tiered plan. The main advantage of using a own router is we can get out of monthly rental costs which can add up heavily. I was able to stream movies wirelessly with Roku box. Very easy to setup, this came with an Ethernet cable and a manual. It is a no brainer to connect and use it,

it's been more than a year since I purchased this, and I've only rebooted it once, ONCE; because for some reason it wasn't refreshing/reconnecting to any of my devices. and that was maybe 6 months ago already. This thing has been thru power and service outages, and when the issues were solved, it went back to work all by itself. the range is good (live in a medium-sized apartment with a concrete wall separating it from the farthest device) and video streaming is not an issue at all (to a PC used as a streaming device most of the time). it connects at least 2 devices at any given time for streaming (smart TV and tablets) and never have had any lag. configuration page is easy enough for anyone with very technical inclinations, or robust enough for those that know how and want to tinker with it. highly recommend! already more than paid for itself by saving on "equipment fees" from the "friendly" ISP.

I have Comcast/Xfinity and was given the chance to review the TPLINK ARCHER CR700 Wireless AC1750 Router and Cable Modem. I am now finally able to ditch the Comcast rented modem and save some money on rental fees. I hooked up the new modem, call comcast and gave them the MAC address. After 5-10min on the phone I was set to go. I live in a smaller 3 bedroom house, that is about 1300 sq ft and this provides ample wireless signal through-out with no issues. Setting up the wireless modem was super easy with TPLINKs GUI that is very well laid out and user friendly. Been using this Modem/Router combo for a few weeks now and love it!

I purchased this modem after comparing quite a few others to replace my Time Warner supplied modem. It has all the features I was looking for including 4 Ethernet ports and 2 usb ports.Set-up was easy and I had no problems getting connected to the internet.I use an AT&T microcell due to poor phone service in our area-I used to have to reboot the microcell and modem all the time before I installed the new TP-Link modem.Since installing the new modem I no longer have issues with lost connections .

I bought this trying to avoid the payment for the xfinity, even that the one they gave me works really well I think this is a relly good replacement, so I got wifi in all the apartment, with really good speed and in 5G works incredibly fast. I have installed another tp link products at home and for me is a reliable brand.

Super fast and easy setup. Combined with a Netgear 10X router making cutting the cord a breeze. Super savings on a powerful system with no ATT or Spectrum. Heaven! Definitely consider a Geek Squad visit to help set up properly and cut your cord too!

This is a good router, not the best. It does not recognize my printers and I have to keep switching from 2.4 and 5 GHz to get reception. I wish I had paid more and got the Arris modem-router.
