If you're in to bleak, yet beautiful visual entertainment, then this is the series for you! It'll have you questioning the humanity of humanity and it'll leave you wanting more. McConaughey and Harrelson are truly master of their craft, and they accomplish a lot in "True Detective: Season 1."

This show is perfect. Dark and moody and brooding. It's not your run-of-the-mill detective stories. Not only is the plot immediately captivating but the characters themselves are so layered that you can't help to enjoy watch, helped of course by a lead cast that all deserve Emmys. Watch it

I was hesitant to buy this with primetime TV being a hodge-podge of crime drama and sitcoms. True Detective is short with the composition and artistry of a Tarantino flick without the humor. So, this may not be for everyone, but it is definitely the best crime drama since...maybe ever.

This series was suggested for me by a friend. He was spot on! The show is extremely engaging while at the same time seeing the underbelly of a seedy, psycho killer methods that makes you recoil a few times. The music is haunting. I cannot recommend this enough, truly a fantastic series.

Great Actors, Great Acting, Great Storylines Great new HBO series about two detectives,Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson) and "Rust" Cohle (Matthew McConaughey), and former partners who worked together in the mid 1990s. Wish season two was going to include the original cast from season 1.

If you've already seen this series, then it's a no-brainer, what are you waiting for...BUY IT! If you missed key episodes, do yourself a favor, buy it and finish what you started. If you've never seen this series...GET ON BOARD...great series, well crafted, and superbly acted!!!

This is a very well written series that keeps you wanting more after every episode. Woody and McConaughey give great performances, maybe the best in each one's career.. The climax does not disappoint and the very end is a well deserved surprise, very cool message.

I think it's pretty common knowledge at this point that this season is the best of the two. Digital HD can be used on both iTunes and Ultraviolet (twice). Great transfers, price has been super reasonable lately. HBO DVD's and Blu-rays are always quality releases.

When ads first started running on HBO, I knew I was going to tune in every Sunday night. Turns out, True Detective is probably one of the best original series to ever air anywhere. If you don't already have this in your collection, I highly suggest you ad it.

Bought this as a gift for someone after watching it earlier this year. Hadn't been that excited about watching a show week to week for quite awhile. Best single season anthology I've ever watched. Just the right length. Some of the things said by the Cole character still haunt.

True Detective is yet another outstanding HBO series. Each episode is more captivating than the last. All characters and performances are so deeply developed with meditative thought by the series creator, as well as the actors. Expect to see countless awards for True Detective.

True Detective is one of the best shows I have ever seen. It was engrossing from start to finish and the story just gets more and more intense and interesting as it progresses. I watched it through completely twice and it was even better the second time. Highly recommended!

True Detective Season One is one of the most well-crafted shows I've ever seen. Written and directed brilliantly. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of either Matthew McConaughey or Woody Harrelson, but both of them turned in fantastic performances.

In my opinion this is the greatest one season of any show that I have ever seen! That is a bold statement considering I have watched and enjoyed Lost, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire just to name a few. BUY BUY BUY and enjoy.

This is a definite must see for action-thriller fans. Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcconaughey are amazing as cops investigating a brutal crime and the layers that the writers and filmmakers place in this series is a joy to see. Highly recommended.

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are just perfect together. Two very different characters that just mesh perfectly. Very suspenseful until the last episode. Every episode you watch will make you want to watch more. I've already watched this twice. Truly awesome.

Whole season is worth watching over and over! Show not available on Netflix or Hulu. Great show if you are into mystery or crime shows. Pay attention to each episode, as details are important. Loved watching True Dectectuve and I hope they continue with more seasons!

This show, like most HBO shows, is very well done! The story only covers one season and is done in an awesome past/present way. The packaging is very cool and sturdy. And one scene in particular in this show was mind blowing! I highly recommend this show to anyone!

The best television show of the last few years, the first season of True Detective was an instant classic. The acting is top notch and the story line keeps you guessing until the end. Do yourself a favor and watch Season 1 of True Detective.

Such a great first season to a series. You can get this on sale and I would recommend it as a great gift or gifts. I don't want to say too much about the plot and give things away, but a suspenseful show that keeps things going until the last episode.
