For those looking for audio quality

So first off you can disregard all the negative reviews on this product, this item works amazing out of the box. It offers a very comfy grip on your head. The detachable mic is an awesome + for when you’re not powning scrubs online.
-The Design
Amazing thought was put into the design of this headset, not only does it fit comfortably on your head but it's angled so it's not just gripping the top but rather wrapping around.
-The Audio
After installing the free drivers I was greeted with probably the best audio quality of any headset I've owned in the last 6 years, Logitech’s 920 offer similar qualities but the cost is an awkward design and the drivers are terrible. The bass is deep when you want it and the voice communication is awesomely clear.
-The Mic
First off the Mic is detachable, so it can be taken off for when not gaming, such as listening to music. The audio quality is amazing; my friends didn't even recognize me when I first came unto mumble/vent. The mic is also adjustable so another +
-The wireless
Don't let anyone fool you, the range on these babies is amazing, my house is easily 300ft across and I could hear my music from 3 rooms over. Also the fact you don't have to worry about cables is another plus. So far the battery life is living up to it' 15 hour cont. play
Overall rating 10/10
I dare say these are the best headphones I've ever owned.

Lousy Sound Quality with a feature full Headset

I am going to go through the pros and the cons of these headphones because for the right person they could still be a good choice and you need to make up your mind based around that.
Pros:
1. Bluetooth is a sweet feature especially since it dual pairing. I love being able to seamlessly switch between answering phone calls and playing my favorite video games and the clarity of the headphones is sufficient enough for it on top of that.
2. 7.1 Surround Sound with a wireless headset under $200 these feature cannot be understated because most headphones at this price range makes you choose between one and another. These do not
3. Voice feedback on switching between options and programming on the headphones. Not to mention that they are programmable, although I have not seen how quite yet.
Cons:
1. 3 hour charge = 1.5 hours of use. What on Earth? The headphones advertise 15 hours of game play, but you would probably have to charge them for 3 days before you could get close to that, and I seriously doubt they charge that much because there is no feasible way that the battery in these headphones is larger than the one in my tablet.
2. Audio Quality is almost laughably bad. I've had better audio quality coming from $40 Sennheiser headphones, and those are in a entirely different pricing bracket. I can deal with slightly below average, but these don't even compete in the same tier. If you are using these as a MP3 Player set of headphones look else where. Even Beats Headphones would beat these things and they are about a joke.
3. Headphones automatically turn off after a period of non-use but the gap is so short that they will often power off after just a minute or so.
4. Setup is quite easy, but continuing to use them is not. The headphones cannot seem to figure out when to turn the Bluetooth feature off. The headphones will automatically but the Bluetooth will not so make sure that if you do use the Bluetooth that you have them charging when you are not using it otherwise it will run right through the battery
5. Build Quality seems to be a little off. They are quite comfortable, but they do not feel durable at all. They easily flexed and are sewn together using red string. Build Quality isn't bad, but not fitting for a headset in this price range.
6. 7.1 Surround Sound not supported at Launch. This is a minor complaint, but the 7.1 Surround Sound is not hardware it is software powered and the software according to Turtle Beach will not be available until December 1st. BAD LAUNCH Turtle Beach.
I will include solid alternates in the related Products Section.

Still waiting for true surround sound

These headphones are comfortable allowing for hours of use and have a very lengthy battery life; however, the sound quality is lacking. When I purchased these headphones I was misled into believing they gave 7.1 surround sounds. The Z300 headphones present a very clear connection, not having the static like my old Sennheisers, but the fidelity in these headphones is very substandard for today’s music sounding very flat and bass tending to be weak. Gaming sound is also lacking. Direct forward and rear sounds are very clear but it is hard to pin point a sound in an approach angle from the sides. Also because this is an external audio device, the onboard audio properties /programs do not apply to this device (Listening to the old bee/helicopter circling noise sounds horrible). One then has to rely on the poor Dolby drivers (had more customization capabilities in Windows 3.1) to get Turtle Beach’s digital surround sound experience. The only customization one gets is Music or Movie mode and three sample rate and bit depth options with only two of them seeming to work properly. A computer will only recognize this device as stereo and the Dolby driver provides a digital surround sound (only two speakers). I personally only bought these because they had mediocre reviews and I wanted some new headphones right then (Plus they did not have the Corsair 2100s in store at the time) and I thought I would just be a slow transition as it is hard to get comfortable in over-ear versus on-ear headphones . There are many complaints such as mine mainly towards the lack of better drivers on the Turtle Beach site but no responses have been made. I write this as I am buying a different set of wireless headphones as I stupidly let the 30 days expire before returning this item, leaving it in back in the package on the floor. These however do work well with my X-box 360 so I at least found them a good home, but for PC gaming and music I am very dissatisfied.

Stereo sound not virtual 7.1 surround

The retailers and websites selling the Z300 should mark the Z300 packages and websites with a disclaimer indicating these are not 7.1 virtual headphones, but only stereo headphones due to lack of availability of an application from Turtle Beach. If you are looking for headphones with virtual surround sound and expecting to hear directional sound within computer games you should look at other products at Best Buy which actually do provide virtual surround sound.
This product has been sold as 7.1 headset since November 2013. Packaging states 7.1 software to be downloaded from Turtle Beach website. As of the time of this review no software is available. Current ETA of software is January of 2014.. In November Turtle Beach site indicated software due Dec 1. After missing that deadline their site changed and stated available first week of December. This implies they figured they only needed a couple more days to fix the application issues. After missing the first week of December deadline the site changed to say software will be available in January. This implies to me they have major issues since they need almost another two months (all of December and perhaps up to all of January) to release the application.

Sound quality is great but just like many other Turtle Beach products I have purchased, once again they wear quickly near the earpieces. The plastic started to crack within 3 months. I take very good care of my electronics (My Altec Lansing speakers are 10 years old) and this is the 4th Turtle Beach headset I will be returning. Please avoid. I am going for something completely different. Steel Series maybe.

these headphones work great with pc. I use them for teamspeak and other VOIP programs. These are great, mic echo feedback button as well as mute and other profiles are on these. I turn off mic feedback so I dont hear myself talk. Great that these have that option. Solid pair of headphones. I think they should be priced at 129.99 instead of the 179.99,but thats just me.

This headset has been a huge step down from my G930's. I was impressed at the features listed on the box yet the actual product failed to live up to it. It is wireless but if I even try to go out of my room the sound will cut out.
The headset is also quite uncomfortable. I can barely wear it for 2 hours and that is a big deal to me. The sound quality is average at best and the surround sound still does not work. The failure to include stand alone software is a huge drawback with this headset.
The microphone is also not sensitive. For bluetooth I almost have to have the microphone in my mouth for someone to hear me. It is a little better for PC applications.
Another minor annoyance is the microphone monitor (the thing that lets you hear yourself talk). It is completely useless unless the volume of the headset is at max as it scales off of how much you've turned up the headset.
A big issue is also the auto-shutoff feature. It is good in theory but you have to have fairly loud sound on to keep the headset from shutting off. If you want to quietly listen to music while writing a paper or something you will have to turn the headset on every 3 minutes because the headset will keep shutting off.
The only "positives" I have seen from this headset is its bluetooth "capabilities", average sound quality, and the battery duration (which is quite good, too bad the headset is essentially wired with its short range anyway).
I will be returning these soon.

I've had many gaming headsets over the years. I'm finding out the more money you spend on them does not necessarily mean they are better than cheaper ones!
That being said, these headphones are junk! I have had Turtle Beach gaming headphones before for my PC and didn't like them either. I bought these because of the options. Wireless, and Bluetooth options got my attention. and Of course 7.1 Dolby.
But no Dolby! Yes Dolby was selected in Properties. Didn't matter, speaker configuration was only set in Stereo, only option! Even with Dolby checked!
I purchased these in to replace my Steel Series Elite in which i did not like either! Only had those for about 4 months. They have no bass either and not enough volume, but at least the 7.1 worked and sounded good. So I will stick with the Steel Series Elites for now!
These Turtle Beach Z300's are being returned! Also, I am so done with Turtle Beach! Never again!

Microphone was completely nonfunctional right out of the box and the sound quality is inferior in every way to the 4 year old $10 headset I was planning it having it replace.
