Great PC Controller with Disappointing Trackpad

The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded (what a mouthful!) is a great high-end controller for PC use. It’s got a lot of modularity and functionality built in and, as a gamepad, it’s very comfortable to hold and I use. I was a bit let down by the quality of the trackpad and the adjustable triggers, but otherwise this is my new favorite controller to use for couch gaming. All the hallmarks of a high-end controller are here. You get the controller and a case that also holds the charging cable, USB adapters, 2 additional D-pads, 2 alternate thumbsticks, a set of alternate gates, and a tool for exchanging and swapping the modules. These bits all sit below the controller in a 2-level foam insert. The cable velcros into the top of the case and this positions it in away where it doesn’t press against the thumbsticks when the case is closed - which is a problem I’ve had with the Xbox Elite Controller’s case. Out of the box, the controller comes in a symmetrical PlayStation-style layout, but this can be swapped to an asymmetrical Xbox-style layout with the included tool and that’s how I have mine setup. I swapped the default dish-type D-pad for the more traditional style, though there is a style included that sort of bridges the two. I chose to stick with the preinstalled concave short thumbsticks, but these can be pulled off and swapped for one of the others without any tools. The grips have a nice soft feel on both the top and the bottom. The face buttons have a similar feel to a traditional Xbox/PlayStation controller, which in general I prefer to the clicky-style buttons I’ve used on other controllers. Overall, the controller feels great to hold and is not too heavy. The build quality is excellent and all the materials feel good against my hands. On the bottom, there are 4 programmable buttons that can be tied to controller, keyboard, or mouse inputs. For me, I tend to press these more often on accident than I do on purpose, so I have them disabled, but this is not an issue for me that is unique to this controller. The triggers can be adjusted to 5 different levels of travel, though you have to do this by feel and for me it was tough to get both triggers to line up to the same stop and I wish that the levels were marked to make setting them a little bit easier. I also think the triggers flare out a bit more than they should and I’ve accidentally activated them quite a few times. The PC version of this controller moves the Xbox/Home button to the bottom and replaces the upper-middle section with a touchpad for mouse input. Below that, there is a function button that can be used in various combinations to adjust functions on the controller. I do most of my gaming on my desktop PC or my gaming laptop. I will often have my laptop connected to the TV in my living room as well and this is where I most often am using a controller. I was excited to use the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded specifically for its built-in trackpad functionality, but I came away disappointed. The trackpad works in a pinch for selecting something from a menu or adjusting a setting, but besides that it’s very limited. It does have a right click function via tapping with 2 fingers and you can also scroll with 2 fingers, but the limited space makes using these gestures difficult and inconsistent. You can activate the Windows Onscreen Keyboard from the controller, but this is an app that is separate and worse than the touchscreen keyboard you normally see and it’s painful to interact with. I think a lot of this can be chalked up to Windows just not being very good with controllers right now. After about 10-15 minutes of struggling through using the trackpad on the controller, I just took my Bluetooth mouse that I normally use back out, which was a bummer. Fortunately, the controller part of the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is fantastic. It essentially just melted away in my hands and I really never thought about it all that much while I was using it. I tried it out on a few games and completed the entirety of the first Alan Wake game using it and never had any issues at all with comfort, connectivity, or stick drift. I did have a couple of scenarios where I’d accidentally activate the triggers, but the deadzone on these can be adjusted in the app to prevent this. Speaking of the app, the Victrix Control Hub from the Microsoft Store provides an easy way to remap buttons, calibrate the thumbsticks, set deadzones, and adjust the audio settings. There’s also firmware updates here and some basic diagnostic functions. To Turtle Beach’s credit, a lot of this can be accomplished directly on the controller, but it’s nice to be able to do it somewhere where you don’t have to remember all the function press combinations. The 3.5mm built-in audio works well enough, though I did run into an issue where the audio distorts noticeably if the audio setting on the controller is set at 100%. Reducing this down to 90% solves the problem and the Steelseries headset I used to test it was loud enough connected to the controller. The battery life is stated at ‘up to 20 hours’. After about 13 or 14 hours of use, the low battery warning on my controller did turn on, but overall I’d call that good enough. So overall, despite some issues, I’m very happy with this controller. It does well for me where it really counts. I do hope that the trackpad can be improved over time because I do think this adds a lot of value, but even without it I think it justifies itself well.

The Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Wireless Modular controller is a PC/Steam edition tournament grade controller with significant feature improvements including extremely responsive magnetic Hall effect thumb sticks and clutch triggers, a precision trackpad, and impressive modularity allowing numerous changes to customize your gamepad. This controller is aimed squarely at Windows PC and Steam Deck users. - Unboxing/Design/Build - The box is fairly basic but when you open it up, there's a high quality hard shell zip case. In the zip case you will see a neatly organized controller with all of its components. There's the controller, a 10 ft braided USB-C cable, a 2.4GHz wireless transmitter, a USB-C to USB-A and USB-A to USB-C adapters (great for Steam deck.) The toolbox consists of three D-pads (cross, diamond, circular), two extra thumbstick caps(sniper stick, short domed cap), two octagonal analog stick gates, and a small hex screwdriver. The case organization is really nice and compact with 2 levels for the add-ons. This makes the zip case really easy to carry around. The controller feels light, but durable. There's two modular areas: On the left is the D-pad and the left control stick. I went old school and swapped it out for the cross d-pad. On the right side is the right control stick and the X,Y,A, and B buttons. I replaced the right control stick with the sniper stick which helps your precision. There's grip in all of the right areas around the controller. There's a dark gray matte finish that helps cut down on the fingerprints. There's also a headphone port front and center. On the bottom of the controller there's 4 buttons that default - Specs & Features - This controller is compatible with Windows 10/11 and Steam Deck. It can be wired or wireless. The polling rate is 1000Hz in wired mode. The thumb sticks are the Hall Effect Modules (anti-drift) and the triggers are hall effect clutch triggers with 5-stop adjustment. There's a precision track pad that emulates your mouse. You can left-click, right-click, and scroll, and I found it very accurate and easy to use. There are reversible modules and a 20 hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery. - Software - The Victrix control hub is where you can perform diagnostics, recalibration, and remapping. The first time I loaded it up, it was a little finicky. I updated the firmware on both the controller and the dongle, restarted my computer, and everything worked great. The on-screen instructions are intuitive and help you test your sticks and all your buttons. My controller passed all of the diagnostic tests. It's recommended anytime you change your sticks or buttons you should run through a diagnostic test to make sure everything is operating correctly before your game. Make sure you're plugged in for the test. - Performance - In FPS games, this controller really shines. The Hall effect sticks feel amazing. They are precise and you won't have to worry about stick drift. There are no dead zones. The sniper long stick was a great idea. There's extra grip on the top of the stick and it just feels accurate. The 5-stop triggers set to their hair trigger mode are fast. The precision trackpad is an excellent addition. The mouse movement feels natural and I found myself using it even when I didn't need to. The buttons feel pretty basic. They don't feel cheap but I wish they felt more premium or mechanical. I turned on Brawlhalla and there was no lag, everything felt quick and accurate. This controller performs as good as it looks. It also feels really good in my hands, as if every button is where it needs to be. - Pros/Cons - Pros: - Anti-Drift Magnetic Hall Effect sticks and triggers are a huge upgrade for durability and precision - Fantastic 20 hour battery life - Customization is thoughtful - Trackpad is convenient for navigation and precise - Exceptional design (weight, grips, layout) - Reversible modules for Xbox/PlayStation layout Suggestions/Needs Improvement: - Buttons are good but could be better - Victrix software for calibration/diagnostics had a few connection problems in the beginning, but after firmware updates I haven't seen any issues - 6-button fight pad is an add-on - No rumble/feedback The design of the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller is the best I've seen. The customization and build quality is top-tier. I've finally found a controller I'm comfortable with on the PC. I highly recommend to any gamers looking for a serious, tournament grade controller.

A Customizable Beast of a Controller

I have been using the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Wireless Modular Controller for about a week now, and it is one of the most unique controllers I have ever tried. This version is designed specifically for Windows and the Steam Deck. When I first took it out of the box, it was set up in a layout similar to a PlayStation controller. Since I am more used to the Xbox layout, I really appreciated how modular this controller is. It comes with a small screwdriver that lets you remove the thumb stick and button blocks and swap them into a layout that fits your style. I changed mine to an Xbox style configuration, and it feels great. I have very large hands, so I found myself accidentally pressing the rear triggers a lot. This made my in game characters and vehicles do some unexpected things, so I ended up disabling the rear triggers completely. For anyone with normal sized hands, they would likely work perfectly. I highly recommend downloading the Victrix Control Hub app. It keeps both the controller and the wireless dongle updated, and it gives you a ton of customization options. You can remap buttons, recalibrate inputs, test every function on the controller, adjust voice control settings, run diagnostics, and access support if you ever need it. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to adjust the trigger pulls. There are simple switches on the back that let you instantly choose between hair trigger mode and full pull mode. If you want to switch during a game, all you do is flip the switch and the trigger depth changes immediately. Switching back is just as fast. The overall build quality is excellent. Every button feels solid and secure even after rearranging the modular blocks. The rubber grips feel great in the hands and make long gaming sessions comfortable. The controller also comes with a very nice carrying case, multiple D pad options, a pair of different height thumb sticks, USB adapters, a long USB C cable, and of course the hex screwdriver for swapping modules. So far, I really like this controller. The only issue I have had is with the rear triggers because of my huge hands, but that is a personal fit issue and not a flaw in the design. For most people, they will work perfectly. I recommend this controller to anyone looking to level up their gaming setup on Windows or Steam Deck. I do not think there is another controller on this level of performance for these platforms.

Premium gamepad that is great for FPS games

There’s a firmware update waiting for both the wireless module and the gamepad, so I updated those before playing with it for the first time. The gamepad comes with a nice storage case and a USB cable with a generous length. My initial impression is that this is a premium gamepad that surpasses standard console controllers in quality. The gamepad has a unique feature that allows users to swap the thumb stick position and transform it from a Playstation style to Xbox style of gamepad. You can also further customize it with the included swappable components. There’s a built-in 3.5mm audio jack to connect with a wireless headset, though it’s kind of a bummer that the gamepad doesn’t come with a microphone module. I’ve been having fun playing Helldivers 2 with the gamepad. The ergonomics is good, the gamepad has a good weight to hold comfortably with both hands, and the grip is nice. Movement is smooth enough and drift free thanks to the hall effect joystick. At first, it does not seem to be as smooth as other Hall effect joysticks I am familiar with. After playing the game for several hours, I can say that I really got used to the gamepad. Firing weapons with the trigger feels responsive and natural. The gamepad works well for FPS games. Though primarily designed for PC games, the gamepad includes a built-in trackpad feature, giving it a feel and functionality similar to that of a PS5 controller. In terms of buttons, I got no complaints. It has plenty of configurable buttons for a variety of playing styles. The Victrix control hub app allows you for deep customization. With its hall effect joystick, this gamepad should last for years. Pros: Good ergonomics Hall effect joystick Awesome modularity Cons: Doesn’t come with a built-in microphone

    Excellent But Similar High-Quality Controller

This controller is excellent but there is nothing here that stands out from other high-quality controllers, unless you need to set the position of the d-pad and thumb stick but you can just find a controller that already has the position you want. Quality and Grip: The quality here is excellent and well made. The grips are great, and I love the feeling of that “rubber like material” on both the front and back side of the grips. It doesn’t feel like it would come apart, but time will tell. I would say it is medium weight, so if you like a controller that is not too heavy and not too light, you might like the weight of this. I personally like heavy controllers, so I wish this was heavier, but that is personal taste. You get a hard case with it that is also high quality that stores the controller, charging cable, screwdriver for turning the stick and d-pad around, and all your custom controller parts, so the case stores everything you would need for this. There is a Velcro loop to hold the cable in place that I found extremely difficult to deal with. Buttons: This controller has all your standard PC controller buttons. It also has four back buttons. I find with the position of the back buttons that I am always hitting them by accident. That said, I am someone who never really uses the back buttons so pressing them by accident can be annoying, or just me. There is also a center pad with a button like what you would find on a PlayStation controller, so I am not sure what it is for. The page and menu buttons are in a strange place and are a strange size, so I always have trouble finding them during play. I wish those buttons were more standard. There is a power button that you must press for a couple of seconds to turn on. The controller doesn’t seem to have a timeout off controller feature as I have left it on for 30 minutes and it is still on. Turning off the controller requires pressing the power button for five seconds. Customization: This controller has a lot of ways to customize it. What does make it different from other controllers is the ability to reverse the position of the d-pad and left thumb stick. It is as simple as using the included screwdriver to unscrew two small screws that are captured and rotate the module that has the d-pad and thumb stick and then screw it back down. It comes with both thumb sticks aligned on the bottom out of the box, but I prefer the offset position, so I very easily changed it. Probably not important but I switched it while it was powered on with no problems. It comes with one tall thumb stick and one short thumb stick. It comes with two medium height thumb sticks pre-attached. You can use any combination of thumb sticks except two short or two tall, which is unfortunate. All the thumb sticks are concave. They are supposed to be hall effect so hopefully never any stick drift. You must lift on the thumb stick to remove it to attach a new one. I found it quite hard to do this, pulling and pushing the thumb stick attachments. You also get three types of d-pads to use you favorite. Again, pull off and push on the new one. I found this very easy. The right-side module with the controller buttons and right thumb sticks has screws so it seems to be removeable, but there is nothing to replace it with. I think the right module can be replaced with six fight buttons on the PlayStation version, but this doesn’t include such a module. The triggers and bumper buttons feel standard. Connection: This controller can be used either wired or wireless. It includes a small USB-A dongle for wireless use. For wired use, you use the included USB cable to connect the controller to the PC. The dongle and controller came paired so it worked out of the box. I have had no problems with the wireless connection. There is also a small switch on the back to change between wireless and wired use. App: There is an app that is used with this controller, which you can get from the Windows store (free) called the Victrix Control Hub. First, you can go to the configure page that allows you to change a bunch of the audio and mic settings. You can remap any of the buttons to another button. For each of the back buttons, you can remap it to any other button or disable any of them, which I finally did. For the sticks, you can swap them or invert the Y position for either or both. You can set the trigger to use any of the buttons. Since I never use a headset or mic connected to the controller, I have no real use for this. The next page is for diagnostics where you can test each button, trigger, and thumb stick to make sure everything is working. The next page is support where you can get the manuals for the controller, or how to contact technical support. This last page is where you do the firmware updates for the dongle and controller which you will need to do first time out of the box. I found updating the dongle to be easy however when it came time to update the firmware in the controller, I had to try it three times before it was successful. It kept getting stuck in the middle of the update. Finally: As originally said, this is an excellent quality controller but doesn’t really stand out unless you need to switch the position of the left thumb stick. If you have a lower end controller and want to upgrade, this is a good contender, however, if you already have a high-end controller, there is nothing here that you wouldn’t already have.

Trackpad Addition Makes This a Game Changer

TLDR: Not the big name in the gaming sector they once were, the Turtle Beach controller rivals the best. PROS: Anti-Drift Hall Effect Sticks Swappable Modules Convenient Track Pad Triggers Everywhere 3 Connection Options (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz Wireless Dongle, Wired) Dedicated 3.5mm headphone port CONS FlightPad Module Not Included Only 20hrs of Battery Life SET-UP The new Victrix is set-up and configured with Turtle Beach's new Victrix Hub. While it is easy enough to use, it is yet another app for Turtle Beach's products. The Roccat products use the Swarm software and the new Victrix uses a special Victrix hub. Each not compatible with the other. It would be nice to see Turtle Beach unify their product line and app development into a single, cohesive design. The Victrix Hub is not at all like the Swarm software (thankfully), but I find it frustrating that products from the same manufacturer (or at least a subsidiary) require 2 or more apps to make each work. USE I've been lucky enough to receive controllers to test from nearly every manufacturer. I will say that the Victrix is right up at the top with the best of them. The swappable modules are a novel approach to controller design. The ability to switch between gaming platforms and controller layouts breaks free from the mold of dedicated devices. The Victrix is compatible with the Steam Deck and PC. I've reviewed other controllers that made the same attempt as the Victrix and was bitterly disappointed. Cheap and gimmicky. The Victrix is not like the other offerings. It feels tight, crisp, and well-made. Far superior to others' attempts. Precision hall-effect sensors add to this feeling. I think my favorite feature of the new controller is the integrated trackpad. I had never thought about having a trackpad integrated into a handheld controller before. Now that I've used it, I don't know why others haven't brought it to mainstream. It is not finicky or overly sensitive, making mouse movements hard to control. On screen movements are subtle and composed. Proper mouse movement is extremely easy to achieve. Well done Turtle Beach. There are also 4 configurable triggers on the underside as well. Each one easily mappable with the Victrix Hub. You can tell Turtle Beach spent a great deal of time on the layout of the Victrix, as the buttons, switches, and triggers all seem to fall exactly where you would naturally hold the controller. Excellent work! CONS There are no dedicated menu and pop-up buttons like there are on dedicated Xbox controllers. Accessing those options are more difficult with the Victrix, but can be done with customization, they just are not supported by default. The hair trigger setting feels cheap and makes the triggers feel wonky. FINAL THOUGHTS Like I stated earlier, Turtle Beach used to be huge in the gaming market, but seems like they are playing runner up as the bigger names bombard you with new products, endorsements, and advertising. However, that shouldn't sway you away from the Victrix. It is a very good controller. As good as any of the competition's products, and better than most. The more I use the Victrix, the more I like it. That integrated trackpad is a novel addition and now that I've used it, it would be hard to go back to a controller without it. It is oh so convenient to use the trackpad than reach for a mouse to make a quick change in a game. Not to mention the included hard shell, custom fit, carrying case. The Victrix offers the buyer a lot for the money. RECOMMENDED

I am impressed with what Turtle Beach has done with this game controller. They have created something here that is indeed truly modular, allowing gamers to use the controller however they see fit, not how a company or particular console brand wants to force them into a box. Being able to swap the left and right modules up or down means that whether you are more of an old school Xbox controller fan with button positions, or like the newer PlayStation controller position of joysticks, you will be all set to go with this! For me, this would make the controller a perfect gift to want to give to a PC gamer this season since it has the flexibility to suit most everyone. Included in the box is all you need to adapt this modular controller to your preference. The included hard shell carrying case with the pre-cut module and part slots is such a nice touch and means that you can take this versatile controller on the go with you and be prepared to adapt it to your needs. I took this controller from some different PC games I like to play: Hollow Knight, Subnautica, Doom Eternal, and I found that it performs well with all of them. The only thing I was having a difficult time adapting to is how prominent the rear grip buttons are. I had to learn to slacken my grip on the controller a little bit or else risk mis-pressing while I was fighting or navigating. The primary criticism I would offer is as follows. I wish the buttons felt more premium than they do. Perhaps I am spoiled with my Scuf controller, but the “mouse click” buttons are so nice and generally offer vastly more precision in gaming sequences and fights where more control is required, like a frenetic Doom Eternal arena fight or a boss encounter in Hollow Knight. I also do appreciate the on-the-fly trigger click/pull changing on this Victrix controller, but this is again something that is better implemented on my Scuf controller. The Victrix controller goes from being a mushy trigger pull to a mushy trigger click, whereas the Scuf controller goes from being an engaged trigger pull to a clickly trigger click, if that makes sense! However, even with the aforementioned criticism regarding the feel of the controller, if this controller existed in a vacuum, it would honestly be a great choice for just about anybody, and it remains a competitive option when considering specific features like the rotating and recalibrating controller modules. Altogether, this controller is an easy 4.5 to 5 stars. It delivers what it promises, but it may not be the only option you want to look at and experiment with during your PC gaming controller selection quest. Thanks for reading, and I hope this review helps!

Best controller ever, a few minor issues

I am very impressed with this gaming controller. It has definitely become the best controller on any system or platform I have ever used. The configuration options allow you to tailor it to your leisure allowing for controls which are better for fighting games, racing, FPS and so on. First impressions: Unboxing this device is a nice experience with premium packaging and loads of extras. The device is in a hard fabric case along with all the tools and various sticks you might need to customize it to your liking. There is a very nice, braided USB-A to USB-C cable which you can use for charging or a low latency connection. The USB A dongle is also in there and easy to set up, just be sure to flip the switch on the controller to the appropriate connection type. Customization: There is a small hex tool in the case to allow for removal, replacement and reconfiguration of buttons. If you only wish to change out a thumb pad or stick, you will not need the screwdriver for that as you can simply pull and replace. If you want to change out the stick base, or the stick orientation (for example to have the left thumb stick on top like an Xbox or on bottom like a PlayStation). The back of the device has loads of extra buttons you can customize to your leisure using the Virtix Control Hub software. I was impressed by the “clutch” for the triggers. To adjust your trigger to the appropriate depth, you hold the clutch switch, pull a trigger to your desired level and release the clutch. I believe there are five levels for this. I highly recommend you check out the Pro BFG quick setup guide available on the Turtle Beach website as it will walk you through every detail on what the device can do. Gaming: The sticks, pads and buttons on the front and top of the device are pure perfection once set up for your tastes. I had a blast testing this out on Starfield, HALO Infinite, Killer Instinct, COD Black Ops 6 and Overwatch. A really cool feature is that you can use the center area as a track pad for your PC. This could be helpful in various menus or on smaller computer form factors. It even works with two fingers for scrolling. Actions on the sticks are very precious but take some getting used to as I found the controller to be somewhat stiff. The grips on the sides feel to be textured rubber and the rest of the controller is high quality plastic. The only issues I came across in gaming is that the menu buttons on the front are somewhat small and out of the way. This is good if you don’t want to accidentally press them, but it is annoying to find them when you need them. Also, the custom rear buttons are somewhat too easy to press in a FPS. As a result, I often disabled the inputs in the software and only had them enabled when playing an RPG where I might need extra inputs. A hardcore gamer might find better use for these though, but I do wish they were harder to press or extended further out to prevent accidental input.

This controller is meant to go where ever you are going, I have a gaming tablet that it pairs with pretty perfectly and the controller case fits perfectly in my bag that has everything I need for my on the go gaming set up. I love that it can be wired or wireless and that the USB C adapter has a place in the carrying case so that if you happen to want to use a USB C port that isn’t an issue at all. I love the customization ability of it as well, if you want to have it closer to a PS4 layout, just unscrew it and reverse it. I also love the little hex screws wont just fall out, they are held in so no worry about losing the hex screws if you are wanting to adjust on the go. I love the size the feel of the controller, it is extremely comfortable in my hands and has become my favorite controller… so much so that I did try it on the Xbox hoping that it might be compatible with that… no dice wireless or wired. Most Xbox controllers are compatible with PCs so if you’re hoping to use the victrix on both, maybe the Xbox version you’ll have better luck with. The triggers were a little interesting to get used to, my old controllers I had a tendency to have the triggers depressed to the just before they registered, these, there is none of that, which is awesome, but took a minute to get used to. The controllers were very responsive and overall I love using this controller for gaming.

I’ve been using gaming pads since the 90’s. Times have certainly changed. The Turtle Beach Victrix Pro is clearly built for enthusiasts. The build quality feels solid and premium. The materials feel durable, making long gaming sessions easier and enjoyable. It feels good to hold and the shape and size are fantastic. This controller’s modularity is wild. It comes with eleven swappable components. You can experiment with the different options and really find a configuration that fits your play style. The “anti drift” thumb sticks have good range and feel precise. The addition of a trackpad adds extra versatility and makes PC gaming even easier. The Victrix Pro comes in a nice looking sturdy case. The case also stores all the additional components, making it easy to swap parts whenever you need to. It’s a nice touch and adds real value to the hefty price tag. The price might be high to some new to the premium controller market. However, there are plenty of competitors in the same price point that don’t offer the modularity, integrated touchpad or any of the other extras that make it a force to be reconned with. Overall, the Victrix Pro is a fantastic controller. Its comfort, customization, and slick design make it worth every penny. If you want a controller that checks all the boxes you expect, along with several you didn’t even know you needed, this one should be at the top of your list.

The Turtle Beach - Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Wireless Controller for PC is an impressive piece of tech that is sure to please all the tinkerers out there. Opening the package, you will find the case that contains the Victrix BFG Pro Reloaded Wireless Controller for PC with hall effect thumb sticks, 4 mappable Quick action buttons on the back, 5 stage clutch hair triggers and 12 interchangeable components and modules to fully customize to your liking. Also included is a detachable 3m Braided USB-C Cable for connecting wired and charging the controller. Get up to 20 hours of playtime with the built-in rechargeable battery. Holding the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Controller for PC for the first time, you will feel the quality and craftmanship that went into making it. What sets this controller apart from the myriads of controllers out there is its modularity. Included in the Hardshell case is a torx screwdriver that makes it extremely easy to swap out the components and swap the thumb stick placement by simply turning the module around. Once tightened back down, the controller instantly recognizes the change and just works. What a brilliant innovation I say! Overall, my time with the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Modular Wireless Controller for PC has been a good one with one glaring exception. The controller does not work 100% like the original Xbox Wireless controller when it comes to being recognized by most games. You must attach the included 2.4GHZ wireless dongle to get that functionality. I took a star off for that missing feature, plus this model is missing Bluetooth capability. Don’t forget to download the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded App to further customize the controller. If you are into having a professional high quality gaming controller for all your PC Gaming, grab one today and you will be impressed with its overall quality and versatility.

    Customizable Pro Level Controller

The Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Modular wireless gaming controller is definitely a pro level controller. It's very comfortable in my big hands, and very ergonomic, making all the buttons are easy to use. Being mostly a PC gamer, I prefer the layout of the Xbox style controllers, and when this controller arrived it was in a PlayStation configuration. No problem. I just used the included hex tool to loosen the screws and then rotate the module to the Xbox configuration, then re-tighten. It also comes with a carrying case that hold all the extra goodies. Inside the case there are two other D-pads, two analog extra sticks, one is convex instead of the standard concave, and a longer stick for more precision, like when plying FPS games, charging/wired controller cord, and a couple USB-A to USB-C adapters. Everything you need to get your gaming controller just how you like it. Once you get setup how you like it, I highly recommend downloading the Victrix Control Hub. In my case, a firmware was available for both the dongle and the controller. Most of the games I play don't require the four extra buttons found on the grips of the controller, and fortunately you can disable them through the app. The buttons are very sensitive, so there was a lot of accidental button presses before I figured that out. The analog sticks are excellent and have the perfect amount of tension to them. The triggers are also fantastic. They are highly sensitive, like hair triggers. The lightest tap or press activates them. Another nice feature is they can be fully analog, or they can be set to be just button presses like the rest of the buttons depending on your needs. So far I haven't played long enough to drain the battery while playing wirelessly, but I also plug it in at night to make sure that doesn't happen. It would be nice if Turtle Beach had a battery meter in the software. And to take it a step further, I would love to see an option for an overlay of the battery percentage while gaming. That way you know exactly where you stand. The onboard sound is also very good, but only as good as your headphones, lol. It also comes with a license for Dolby Atmos for headphones, which is nice to have, but personally I find most games sound better with no added spatial effects. It does work well for music and movies though. Lately I've been playing a lot of Monster Hunter Wilds and The Crew Motorfest with this controller, and I have been loving it. Using this controller has enlightened me as to how worn out my other controller is It was time for a replacement, and I am happy to say that this is my new everyday controller.

A PC Controller Designed For Pros

Overall Thoughts: The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is an excellent wireless PC controller. Latency is virtually nonexistent, even when used wirelessly, and its feel, weight, and functionality are top-notch. The touchpad and ability to use the controller like a mouse make it a game changer for living room setups. While it’s on the pricier side, the value packed into this premium controller is pretty substantial. Pros: • Modular design with swappable D pad, thumb sticks, and left module (a fight stick module is available separately but not included in the PC bundle) • Solid build quality and premium accessories including a hard case • Outstanding low latency performance in both wired and wireless modes • Four mappable rear buttons • Hall effect five stage trigger locks • Hall effect analog sticks • Modular analog stick and button layout • Precision touchpad for navigation • 3.5mm audio jack with wireless audio support Cons: • Premium price point • Only 20 hours of wireless battery life • Victrix software can be finicky. Firmware updates for both the dongle and controller took a few tries • No haptics or adaptive triggers like those found in other controllers • Not compatible with Xbox, PS5 or Switch Verdict: If you're a competitive gamer, this should be on your short list. Even if you're not and just want a modular controller packed with features while skipping fluff like haptics, the Pro BFG Reloaded might be exactly what you're looking for. It’s not an easy recommendation for the average gamer, but if you're serious about elevating your PC gaming experience, don’t overlook this controller.

Excellent PC controller with Hall Effect Sensors

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Victrix Pro BFG feels like a high end Xbox controller, but with hall effect joysticks, rear paddles, and some neat customization options. It’s aimed for the upper end of the controller market and even comes with a nice hardshell case that conveniently stores the controller and accessories (screwdriver, assortment of D-pad covers, different heights of joysticks, angular joystick gates, and adapters). I appreciate how everything feels high quality and that extends to the controller itself. Not only does the body feel rugged but more importantly the controls are responsive and precise. And best of all, because it uses hall effect sensors for the joysticks that means no more worrying about stick drift! As someone who loves the series X controller body, this is my favorite alternative so far. CUSTOMIZATION When I opened the case and saw the screwdriver and extra parts, I knew this controller was something special. You can change D-pad styles, the joystick gates, the height of the joysticks, shorten the pull range on the triggers, reprogram buttons, and then there’s the one big novel feature. You can flip the joystick and D-Pad/button orientation around. They’re modular and can easily be set up like an Xbox controller, or swapped around so the joysticks are parallel like a DS4 controller. I believe you can even move the physical buttons around, but haven’t tried that yet. In terms of customizing the controls themselves, it’s pretty straight forward in the Victrix app and I appreciate how easy it is to use. My only knock on it is that it won’t allow you to program macro functions. You can reprogram essentially every input on the controller, but only for one function at a time. No turbo modes either. This controller is geared for competitive play, so I guess they left those features out to stay compliant for tournament regulations. Which is fair, but something to keep in mind. FUNCTION All of the controls feel responsive and accurate. There’s excellent tactile feedback for all of the controls, though I feel like the triggers are a bit soft. I’m really nitpicking here, because it’s been a fun gaming experience and I really like how the middle sensor doubles as a mouse trackpad (like the DS4). It comes in handy for PC play and the D-pad is a definite upgrade from a series X. But the big draw are the hall effect sensors for the joysticks. Stick drift has put many of my favorite controllers to rest and that issue is virtually eliminated with these sensors. I’ve read that joystick tension can feel light with them, but that’s not the case here. The tension is spot on for me and for whatever reason, I seem to be more accurate playing FPS games. I did notice there’s no rumble effects or haptic feedback, and maybe that’s what it is, but there’s been a definite improvement lately. Speaking of which, I’m a fan of haptic feedback but was surprised how much I didn’t miss it here. It took me a while to even realize it wasn’t vibrating. I’d still like it as an option, but it doesn’t add as much to the gaming experience than I thought. If there’s one major knock it’s that you can’t see what the current battery charge level is. I’m hoping a software update can fix that, because it’s nice having more than just light flashes when the battery is low. At least the battery is rated for about 20 hours per charge. Overall, the Victrix Pro BFG controller is almost perfect for me. The look, quality, feel, and responsiveness are all there. I do wish for a battery level indicator, but aside from that it’s an excellent controller and my go-to for the foreseeable future. PROS - Excellent built quality - Good joystick and button tactile feedback - Good size and ergonomics - Controls feel precise - Love the touchpad - Hall effect joysticks - Kind of like blending an Xbox Elite controller with a Sony DS4 controller and adding hall effect joysticks. - Can swap joystick and button layouts - Can swap joystick height, joystick gate, D-pad type, and buttons - Triggers have 5 adjustable range levels - 4 programmable rear paddle buttons - Nice case that stores accessories - Easy to program buttons and calibrate in Victrix app CONS - No vibration or haptic feedback - Can’t see battery charge level - Triggers feel light (prefer more tension) - No turbo button programming - No macro button programming

The Turtle Beach Pro BFG Reloaded is a deluxe controller with numerous customization and configuration options. It ships inside a rigid storage case along with swappable components (D-pads, thumbsticks & gates), a 3-meter braided USB cable, USB-A receiver, USB-C to A adapter, Steam Deck USB-C adapter, and a small hex-style mini-screwdriver. Unless you own a small electronics driver set, I suggest being careful not to lose the bundled screwdriver because a regular screwdriver won’t work. The controller has a compact and comfortable ergonomic form factor. This particular model is compatible with Windows and Steam Deck only, not X-Box. The bottom button between the modules is programmed by default to launch the Steam app and the out-of-the-box layout is only partially similar to an X-box controller. The biggest differences are a trackpad where the Xbox home button typically is, the left analog stick being flipped to the bottom, and a different D-pad style. The D-pad can be swapped out for a more traditional four-point style like those found X-box controllers and the analog stick can be flipped up to the top using the included screwdriver to remove and flip the module 180-degrees. Module and component swaps are easy and intuitive to perform. A companion app is available named Turtle Beach Victrix control hub that can be used to update the controller’s firmware, remap the buttons/switches, adjust dead zones, and calibrate the controller. A QR code link to the app is provided and good thing too because I was unable to find it searching the Windows app store. Only the Turtle Beach PDP control hub is currently available in the app store and it is not compatible with this controller. The Victrix app immediately detected the controller and applied a firmware update on launch. I then calibrated the analog sticks and re-mapped the buttons to my preference. Performance is fantastic. The reversible hall effect modules provide precise controls with no noticeable drift. The controls can be recalibrated in the app at any time if any issues develop. Dead zones can also be adjusted in-app. The controller has true precise aim and quick response with no observable latency whether wired or wireless. The 5-stop clutch operated hall effect triggers are very responsive and are fantastic for most gaming scenarios, whether that’s requiring a hair trigger in a FPS or a long throttle control for racing games. They can provide an advantage when quick reflexes and reaction times are a must. There is a trackpad at the top of the controller that seems more suitable for a Steam Deck. I’m accustomed to using traditional X-Box style controllers on PC, so I don’t really have a need for it. Another feature I don’t use is the onboard 3.5mm audio jack. I had one on my previous Turtle Beach Recon controllers and wasn’t too thrilled with it. I’ll stick with my USB and wireless headsets and buds. The texturized controller grips are comfortable and slip-resistant, even during sweaty palm lengthy gaming sessions. The controller can be used wired or wireless. A switch on the controller bottom toggles between wired and wireless modes. I haven’t experienced any connection issues or degraded performance over wireless. Button placement is suitable for the most part, but I recommend disabling or remapping any unneeded buttons because when engaged and locked in during intense gaming, it is easy to accidentally hit one of the back paddles on the underside of the grips. Battery life is on par with my similarly styled X-Box controllers and the controller can charge and be used simultaneously with the cable. The Pro BFG Reloaded is a solid controller. It feels well-built and durable. It’s comfortable and has a ton of customizable options. The stylish storage case is a nice touch, especially considering it efficiently holds everything so no pieces can easily get lost or misplaced. However, I can only recommend this controller to those who own both a Windows PC and/or a Steam Deck. This controller is not compatible with Xbox and is lacking some of the Windows/Xbox-centric controls and defaults. The Xbox version of this controller would definitely be a much better option for those strictly on Windows and/or Xbox. The Xbox version even includes a flightpad module. Despite this fact, for those splitting time between a Windows PC and a Steam Deck, with a little customization, this is an excellent and highly capable controller with spot-on accuracy on a Windows PC. It’s also a good option if using on PC exclusively or primarily in Steam rather than through the Xbox app. Options like the Steam launch button are just as useful on PC if the Xbox app and button aren’t utilized or needed.

Modular Pro Series First Person Shooter, Fighter

This pro series controller comes in simple, easy to open packaging. Unboxing includes taking out the controller nicely stored and safe in its very own carrying case. The controller itself is lightweight with adjustable trigger buttons and thumbstick stands. The thumbstick stands enable you to choose different sizes for different games for precision aiming and control. The buttons on the bottom of controller are nicely placed, making them easy and comfortable to use during gameplay and can be programmed. Looking further along the underside of the controller, one will find a small toggle button (purple) to switch between wired and wifi options for those charging periods when trying to play. The controller does not seem to have rumble or haptic feedback. The “adaptive triggers” (Sony owned rights) is done via a sliding locking mechanism switch on each side of the underside of the controller to change the range of pull for use. For pro-players, the haptic feedback is not always used for first person shooter games as it tends to be more of a bother. On my own normal controllers, it is something I personally turn off as a feature when playing fist person shooters. There is an additional button by the wired/WiFi toggle that allows you to set 3 savable controller configurations. There is an app to configure the controller and perform updates to your controller. It does include the standard 3.5mm headphone jack that does supports communication. Modular control design allows you to switch between various layout configurations to meet the needs of the player from the directional pad to thumb stick extension, left side. From the old school directional, hybrid, and/or rolling; one additional thing to note is the notched locking ring to gain a feel during play of where you are holding your directional pad; relative true position. The right side has tabs to allow for a specific layout using the additional “Fightpad” pro module. The buttons on both the pro and fighter modules seems to have mouse click and short throw buttons. True modularity to customize on the fly to your needs. Everything is neatly stored in the included travel case. The one thing, that seemed to be a little out of date is the Wireless dongle. Plugging the dongle in and pairing to the controller when switched to WiFi enables 2.4G wireless gameplay. The included cord is USB-C to -A, nice length to play wired and charge or wirelessly. There are adapters to convert this cable to USB-C to -C. The dongle is a concern if you plan to travel with the controller and happen to forget or loose it. Without it…no more wireless capability. The controller does have the xBox controller dedicated shape. Referring back to the app, there is a mode for Thumbstick recalibration should stickdrift occur. Short throw triggers and sensitive. There is also an option to set the controller into competition mode; locking out certain features for tournaments, preventing accidental actioning and disqualification.

By far the best controller for PC Gaming

I've always been more of a console gamer than pc gamer, and a big reason for that is the fact that I simply prefer a controller over a keyboard and mouse. Of course there are games that don't work well with a controller, sometimes because of the type of game it is and sometimes just because there's not enough buttons on a controller to do everything you need it to. While there's not much that can be done on the former, this controller does address the latter in many cases. First impressions straight out of the box is that this is a very well built controller. The hard case is nice and everything you need to use and modify the controller is stored very nicely within the case. That last part really shows how much thought Turtle Beach put into not just the controller itself, but the little things as well. It's really easy to re-arrange and modify the controller too. I prefer offset sticks, which is not the default configuration, so the very first thing I did, before even looking at any guides, was switch the orientation of the left stick/d-pad. I had that done within the first couple minutes of unboxing, that's how easy it is. With that done, I charged up the controller, which took a few hours, and installed the victrix control app on my PC in the meantime. Once charged I connected it wirelessly with the dongle and after a few seconds the app recognized it. As always I checked for any updates and there was one for the dongle specifically. Once that updated, I checked for updates for the controller, which it turns out can't be updated wirelessly, so you need to connect using the included usb cable for that to happen. Fully charged and updated, it was time to use it. The app includes a nice testing feature to make sure all of the inputs work correctly, which they all did. Before loading up a game though, I wanted to see how this controller works just within the OS. I have to say, the trackpad and buttons surrounding it is absolutely amazing. It completely replaces the trackpad on my laptop, so in cases where I may not have a mouse hooked up, I can just lean back and use this controller. The trackpad is obviously a lot smaller, but it works flawlessly. It didn't take very long to get used to it either. Finally it was time to do some gaming. I used it both wired and wirelessly, and the inputs were equally responsive. There was no lag of any kind and it felt just like I was used to with a console. With the programmable inputs, it was able to handle games so much better than a console too. Best part is the ergonomics. This controller is just plain comfortable to hold. All the inputs feel natural, even the extra buttons on the lower back. Even though I've never used those fingers before since none of the controllers I've ever had have had buttons for those fingers, I was able to use them just as naturally as I did all the standard buttons. I truly love this controller, it's completely changed how I look at PC gaming. The only downside I have is the fact that it won't work with my Xbox too. I tried just to make sure and can confirm it doesn't. It was never meant to though so I can't hold it against it, but Turtle Beach does make a version for the Xbox and I honestly might just have to pick one up for that too.

The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Controller for PC is built different from the competition. First things first, this is one of the best lightweight and customizable controllers I’ve used. I’ve gotten a chance to test Turtle Beach’s Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller for XBOX too. After using both, I have some thoughts. The Turtle beach website recommended downloading the Victrix Control Hub App from the Microsoft store. This was really easy since I already had the app on my PC. I was able to update both the dongle and controller to the latest firmware fairly easily. The PC version feels more lightweight and better in the hand after using both. What is this controller and who is it for? The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller for PC comes in one color option of black with purple accents. The controller is lightweight and feels great in the hand. Having the ability to customize the modules is a big plus. If you love fighting games, this controller should definitely be looked at due to the ability to buy an optional fightpad module. Since this version of the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is for PC, this means compatibility is limited to Windows 10&11 and Steam Deck only. I would suggest choosing the correct controller version before purchasing as the PC version doesn’t not have Bluetooth or the ability to operate on the Xbox or Chrome OS platform as of the time of writing this review. What’s in the box? The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded for PC comes with the below accessories: Victrix Pro BFG reloaded controller Braided USB-C cable USB Wireless Transmitter USB-A to USB-C Transmitter Adapter USB-C to USB-A Adapter (for Steam Deck compatibility) Additional D-Pads and thumbsticks Module removal tool Carrying case How does it perform? Since the controller doesn’t have any rumble motors, it brings the weight of the device down considerably. This helps for long gaming sessions and helps with arm fatigue. The trackpad works like having a built-in mouse in the palm of your hands. Having the ability to use the controller wired or wireless is also a huge benefit. In the box, it has the transmitter and the adapters to assist connecting to both USB-A and USB-C type ports. The thumbsticks use Hall-Effect technology to avoid the dreaded stick drift that most controllers suffer with after long-term usage. The left and right triggers can be adjusted by using the trigger stop feature. This is awesome and allows the left and right triggers to become hair-triggers. The manual claims 20 hours of usage after a full charge. I’ve played for about 2 to 3 hours a day for 4 days and I have yet to charge the device. I will need to continue to monitor the battery life long-term. Mappable rear buttons act as paddles that helps give an advantage for quick button presses and having the ability to add different 3 profiles allow you to assign a different profile based on the game you are playing. The only minor gripe that I have with this controller is the small menu buttons. They are thin and out of the way. Other than that minor issue, I think this is the controller to beat. If you need a tournament style controller with plenty of customizable options, looks no further than the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Wireless for PC controller. Just be sure to pick the correct version.

[PROS] Thoroughly Enjoyable: The controller is extremely comfortable to use. Although there's nothing special about its shape, the textured grips on the handles make it easy to use for hours on end. Furthermore, it can be adjusted to mimic Xbox or PlayStation styled controllers which aids greatly in maintaining muscle memory. Feature Rich: From swappable D-pads to changeable joysticks and gates to customizable trigger stops, this device can adjusted for any situation. There's hardly anything missing from this controller other than a fight stick module which can be purchased separately. Additionally, the biggest concern for any gamer regarding has already been addressed through the inclusion of hall effect sticks which do work well. Personally, my favorite part of the controller is the trackpad which allows me to less dependent on a mouse to do certain tasks. Straightforward Compatibility: I was able to use the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller on a wide variety of PC platforms. It worked easily with Steam, Epic, Xbox app, and without any device recognition issues or quirky behavior even with button remapping. [CONS] Victrix Control Hub: I'm torn about my feelings regarding the app. On the positive side, its barebones and not clunky. However, Turtle Beach has an existing app (Turtle Beach Control Center) that currently supports multiple controllers. It seems like it would have made more sense to integrate support of the Victrix into the the Turtle Beach Control Center. I also own the Stealth Pivot so I'm needing to toggle between programs to use products under the same brand which is unfortunate. As far as experience, the Victrix Control Hub is simple to use and self explanatory. You can test functionality of the analog sticks and trigger stops along with configuring other controller elements. However, it often hitches or is slow in response when executing different actions. Also, there's no battery percentage indicator within the software which is odd for any wireless device. Lastly, setting up profiles isn't as streamlined as I was hoping for it to be. [MIXED BAG] Build Quality Concern (Long Term): I love how the controller feels, and I will definitely agree that its sturdy. Yet, changing the modules requires adjusting tiny screws that will probably strip easily if users are not careful. Furthermore, they're locked in their designated holes which means that an entire module must be replaced in the event of compromised screws. [CONCLUSION] The Victrix justifies the Pro label by providing an ample amount of customizations and function. I was able to make hardware and software adjustments for a mostly pleasant experience. I loved using the controller for long periods of time, and didn't have one complaint about it. Overall, its not perfect, but its still very powerful.

I’ve been able to use the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro controller for a while now. Out of the box this thing is nice. And you will be bombarded with all the features and also all the accessories that it comes with. You get so many and I’ll try to list them off the best I can. You get joy sticks convex and concave. And one longer one. And you get 3 types of Dpads. One that has a bowl type that’s attached on it and you get a wider button then finally a thin old school button. There are two plastic sticks in the case (oh yeah it comes in a nice case) it’s just to hold the foam in place. I was going crazy trying to figure out what it was for. So don’t go crazy. It’s just packaging. The controller itself feels great. I have larger hands and it feels good. My wife who has smaller hands says she likes it as well. Shes a PlayStation controller enjoyer. So that’s a good sign. The controller has a lot of flexibility for controls and setup. You are able to swap the joysticks to however you want. You can have them both in top, or one down and one up, or both on the bottom. You are able to do this by unscrewing the module and spinning it. At first I thought the screws could be lost but then realized they are captive screws. Nice touch. It has the ability to set the depth of the triggers too which is really cool for adding speed to your triggers. Also the 4 buttons on the back help with shooters for keybinds. I want to note that USB C is a nice braided purple which is super cool. Overall it’s a nice gaming controller with tons of flexibility.
