It is useful for outside lighting and is very bright.

There are some less than flattering reviews here for this device. Trouble is that all of them from users who never should have purchased this item. This is a Bluetooth controlled device having his own merit. Should you need to have unconditional control for your home automation device, go for the Wi-Fi variety. This bulb does everything and all that it promises that will do. It's definitely a 5 star device.

I think this is a solid bulb (quality) - bright (actually turned it down to 75% for my patio/yard), love the colors, i'm hoping it'll last a long while for the $$. The software for this is (iOS) wonky (at first especially, new version better). Fortunately I installed it in the correct order: older version first, there was a firmware update that took several tries before it would take - then i fought with the app to get the bulb scheduled to do what i wanted. Simple things - like On at 6pm and off at 6am. Then i found out that they had an upgrade to the app to a newer version - it copied over everything, it was much simpler to setup what i wanted... but still, i think they could really improve the app some more but they're in the right direction as the first iteration was like an afterthought of programming. It doesn't work with home kit or anything else that i can tell (it's bluetooth). Plus side: harder to hack from internet, Minus side: can't use things like home kit, IFTTT, etc. Still, it's a great bulb and LOVE the colors. I bought it on sale, i needed an outdoor light that i could alter the colors and not have to change every 1-3 months. Hoping it'll last a long while. I'm not sure i'd recommend it over one that does the same/quality the same with homekit/ifttt ability though.

These are great when they work. The reason I say 80% is because sometimes I have to move my phone and around for the bulbs to work. I picked up 3 bulbs on clearance and replaced my kitchen lighting (yes you can use them for indoors as well). The colors are nice and bright and I like that it comes with pre-programmed lighting themes. I do have a few issues 1) Bluetooth mesh doesn't really work, I had to hold my phone up to each bulb for it firmware update. 2) Alexa can't control it directly because the bulbs aren't over Wi-Fi but if you download the IFTTT app there's a workaround. 3) the app must be running in the background and the GPS must be on for your phone or tablet in order for the bulbs to work. Still to me these are not major issues but I would only recommend these smart bulbs if you pay under $30 for each.

The ilumi lights are similar to hue lights which I have. The only problem with them are when I try to make the lights change with the sound of music it shows that it can only work with Google play music. It will not work with any other music such as rhapsody, spotify and so on. Even though the lights are bright the lights changing with music brings my rating down.

Wanted something that I could easily install to light up a new backyard pergola. Two ilumi bulbs do the trick and enable me to change colors whenever I feel like it through the iPhone app. Only downside I have found is that bluetooth control doesn't work well from inside my home even though I am in "range" of the bulbs Other than this they are pretty amazing

When I bought this light I needed a color changing bulb for outdoor use. These bulbs are built well for outdoor weather conditions. At first the app was terrible, but now with the most recent update I'm not having any troubles at all. I now have 6 of these bulbs in my porch ceiling and couldn't be happier.

I bought this one to add a change to a floodlight in my front yard. I didn't read enough to know it would not work on motion detection devices . I am changing it to another area to provide some cool lighting. It works as should but it you have it with motion detection. it will not work

I bought this because I didn't want a hub to control my lights. Turns out I might need to. These lights work off of Bluetooth, so I was limited in how I could access the bulbs. Sure I could have set up vacation mode, etc., but the whole point was so that I could control them remotely. I think I may have needed a SmartThings hub and some IFTTT in order to make it work. The colors were amazing and this was the only smart bulb that was rated for outside. I ended up returning these bulbs in hopes that maybe Hue will come out with an outdoor rated bulb. I recommend it, but make sure it fits your needs first.

These have been a fun addition poolside and provide some color to the patio. They are a little clumsy as far as the app goes but wound up keeping them as they provide some outdoor color. Prefer LIFX but no outdoor product for them yet.

The bulbs works pretty well when it can connect to the app. The range is around 10-15 feet. I don't like that I have to have the GPS on to use the app. Got these on clearance so I doubt they are still available for sale. Also found out they stopped support for them so I guess get if you don't expect to get any support if they end up breaking.

Great price, powerful bulb and really easy-to-use app. Highly recommended.

Very nice outdoor lighting system. Colors ate bright and look epic agiainst a light colored wall.

I have a ton of Phillips Hue products and unfortunately they don't make a bulb suitable for outdoor use. I decided to try the Ilumi outdoor floods. They work as advertised however the Bluetooth control leaves a lot to be desired. You have to be in relatively close proximity to take advantage of the features of the bulb. You can turn them on easily enough with your wall switch but to change color or bightness you have to go get close to the bulb. So for me, with 6 sets of floods on the exterior of my home, its turn them on inside and then go walk around to each fixture to adjust the color and brightness. I decided to keep the bulbs mainly for Holiday type lighting, red for Christmas, dark purple for Halloween etc. So in that circumstance only would I recommend these bulbs.

I had been interested in trying one of the ilumi products for a while and was excited when I was able to pick up this bulb at my local store. I had seen other ilumi products live in action but not the outdoor bulb. As with the other ilumi products, this bulb surprised me. Installation is as simple as screwing in a new lightbulb and downloading an app on your phone. After these 2 simple steps you are able to control many aspects of the bulb including color, brightness, and on/off, all right from your phone!!! If you want something that is a game changer for any indoor or outdoor area then this is the bulb for you! Being able to function as a normal lightbulb was important to me and even as a "normal" lightbulb it performs well. Even though this bulb is labeled as "outdoor", it can be used indoors, which is how I am currently using it. I have it mounted in a recessed canister approximately 30feet from ground level functioning as a floodlight and providing mood lighting to an open living room and fireplace. In my scenario, the ilumi bulb is just as bright, if not brighter than, the 75W bulb it replaced. With all the features of the ilumi bulb, however, I would much rather have the ilumi!

This bright is really really bright and will light up your entire backyard. It's great the downside is the connectivity through Bluetooth. It's very poor. We put the light outside on our deck and it wouldn't even connect from five feet away. I did attempt to play around with and it and try new things but nothing really seemed to work or make it better. Be careful about purchasing this unit.

Planning on using these on our new outdoor patio -- patio not built yet but we have the indoor ones in our family room and love them. Great colors -- only color LED bulb that does a great green color.

i deducted a point bc the app is not very user friendly. I have 4 of these outside now and all still work fine. 2 have been outside for almost 2 years.

Ok app, little flaky. The bulb works great. Hopefully there will be updates to the app and have the ability to tie to alexa or google, but right now you cant.

For the price, its really a good product with decent light. The app is simple. I wish the interface was a bit easier for switching colors.
