    Very Gripping Movie

The movie is the true story of Louie Zamperini, the Olympic runner who went from national hero to prisoner of war. The movie goes into great detail, how his life struggles made him the person he became, that gave him the courage and strength to endure life as a Japanese prisoner of war. The story is captivating, the photography is outstanding and special effects are realistic, but not overdone. I liked the movie enough to get it on Blu-ray after seeing it in the theatre- what else can I say?

Great story but a bit long

Unbroken is the story of the heroic, nearly unbelievable life of Louis Zamperini, a former Olympic runner who survived 47 days in a life raft during World War II, only to be captured by the Japanese and tortured in a prisoner-of-war camp for three years. It is an inspirational and life changing story, but the movie tends to take too long to tell it, particularly in such a conventional manner.Make no mistake, every aspect of this story is worthy, as is every second of Zamperini's sacrifice. It's the repetition of the same notes again that makes the movie a bit too much and thus too long, but is still very worthwhile to watch.

In short the movie shows the strength and endurance of what one POW went thru in a Japanese prison during world war 2. I don't know and can't imagine how he managed to surcive the torture by one of the worst of the Japanese army. I also learned how after the war he was able to forgive the man who put him thru so much pain and suffering. This isn't a movie that young children should see simply for the torture scenes are too intense.

I was worried that this would be a dull and slow movie. Far from that, it was a great show of strength, courage and faith. You soon felt yourself in his position and wondering if he was to give in , but what a man. My wife cried and cheered as did I. Needs to be seen by young people to instill a sense of pride and belonging to live their lives by. Wouldn't hurt for most adults to see and adjust their lives also. A must see.

    To endure and forgive

Powerful true story of fortitude and self control. It is especially powerful to know he went back to "forgive" his captors later. That exhibits the possibilities needed to be at peace within ourselves. Perhaps pardon the ones who were off target or hold them accountable (ie prison) but forgive the pain and anguish that one carries inside themselves. That internal pain is what kills us faster than the external torture.

I do not buy a lot of movies. Only ones that I would care to see again. Saw this move 2 times in theaters. Bought the movie as a gift for my dad. This movie was difficult to watch at times and can not image going through what this man did. I am so thankful for men and women who serve our country and have fought for our freedom! God has truely blessed America. May we continue to be one nation under God!

A true life story brought to film that will greatly improve your respect for our prisoners of war. While we do really like this film, one has to feel that the director left too much on the disc and not enough story development. While the film is quite long, the last twenty minutes felt rushed as if the director was told to cut it down to a more reasonable size. In the end, like I said earlier, this true story will bring to focus the amount of torture, death and despair that goes on with being a POW.

This was an eye-opening movie. It's amazing that Louis Zamperini had such strength to endure all he had to go through. He goes from Olympic athlete to a prisoner in a Japanese concentration camp. It was heart-wrenching to see him go through such pain, and still keep his spirits and strength up. I highly recommend this movie but have your kleenex ready. The blu-ray dvd combo was a great buy.

ANGELINA JOLIE directed this real life drama of a real life Olympian , ZAMPERINI . A WW2 story of survival on a raft for 47 days , after a plane crash and , after capture by the Japanese , an incredible physical and spiritual drive of survival. Jack O'Connell plays ZAMPERINI with great commitment. It's a great film of human personal perseverance. Shouldn't miss this hero story.

A Well Done Story About the Harsh Reality of WAR>

A realistically told story, which is well-acted and directed, and coupled with CGI to effectively show several aerial and POW Camp sequences. It’s an emotional trip, which grabs you completely – they say war is hell – well this film is the that side of hell that you don’t want to experience and you will experience it due to the Directors drive for an unusually gritty but true moving-picture.

The main character in this movie, Unbroken, which was based on his life story, was a courageous, spirited individual who did not let the repeated setbacks ruin his indominable spirit. He withstood many grueling episodes of hardship throughout much of his life, which ultimately made him stronger and more understanding, philosophical and kind-hearted. A truly Inspirational story.

I totally enjoyed this movie. It shows the resiliency man is capable of. When Louie Zamperini is taken prisoner by the Japanese in World War II, his brother's mantra of "If you can take it, you can make it", is what will allow him to survive his terrible ordeal. Definitely worth watching. I only wish the movie was longer to show more of what he went through after the war.

I loved the book and went to see this movie at the theater when it came out. Louis Zamperini's life story is inspiring. The things he went though make our current trials seem so small. The Blu Ray has many special features that include interviews with Mr. Zamperini. He died just before the movie was released. Definitely a good movie to have in your collection!

Unbroken shows the cruelty of war and the bravery of those who will not relent to evil. The acting depicting the soldiers of both sides was excellent. The reality of this movie will dig deep to the sympathetic and will enrage the warrior. A must see .... This is an Oscar performance for all actors. Too bad Hollywood still believes in social modifying movies.

This film should have won the Oscar! Its a brilliant telling of 1 mans journey from troubled kid to war hero and Olympian! Its really hard to watch at times because its soooo real. but its a journey that's as good if not better than SCHINDLERS LIST. Angelia Jolie may just be better BEHIND the camera than in front! I still think it should have won its OSCAR!!!!!!

Although this movie isn't as good as the book (and what movie is ever as good as the book?), it's still excellent. All the main points are there, and you can really feel the pain of the tortured prisoners. (I wouldn't recommend this for the squeamish or for children under 14.) If you like true-life stories, war stories, or both, you'll love this movie.

Enjoyable movie. That poor SOB was tortured by that Guard.Hard to believe he wanted to meet him later in life,I read where the fellow in Japan refused the meeting.I guess it would be hard to look a person in the eye that you had mercilessly tried to torture and kill.A good story of the enduring human spirit and the will to survive.

While watching the movie (Unbroken) at the theater, I knew I had to add it to my DVD Library. Best Buy offered the best price so I ordered the Blu-ray Disc online and I was happy to receive it a few days earlier than promised. The picture quality is great and I was very pleased with Best Buys "online ordering process." I will order online again.
