I purchased this dash cam to start keeping video records of people's terrible driving around me and in case of accidents and have been using it for about 2 months now. First to start off, I immediately bought a 30gb mini SD card to use in the camera instead of the 8gb one that came with it. Around 40 minutes of recording is about 6gb of data. Comes with a USB transfer cable to easily hook the camera up to a computer and transfer the files. As stated in some reviews, sound will not play back when using windows media player. I downloaded Quicktime player and video and sound work just fine.
Installation of the window mount suction cup is quite simple and have mine mounted just to the right of the rear view mirror, which puts it out of the way and still easy access to the control buttons. Hooking up and unhooking the camera from the mount is not hard and secures very well when in place. Removing the camera is definitely a two handed operation but is not a burden. The mount is very flexible with locking collars so it is easy to adjust the position. Feels very sturdy when locked down and does not feel like it will break.
The power cord for the camera is very long, and I have several feet left over tied up that isn't being used. Plugs into cigarette lighter. Camera powers on and off automatically when car turns on and off when left plugged in. There are settings in the camera you can change to make it start recording automatically when powered on or just record when you push the button. The battery life of the camera is not bad, but not great either. I have been able to get roughly 35 minutes of recording on a full battery charge. Comparing to other camera batteries like GoPro, it's not terrible battery life, but I just leave mine plugged in most of the time anyways.
The camera body itself is small and very portable. It is smaller in diameter than a credit card, but thicker than a cell phone in a case and the main lens sticks out twice as much as the thickness of the camera body. I usually keep mine in the box that came in the packaging as it has a protective bubble wrap sleeve and a smaller box to carry it in to keep it protected when not in use.
The video quality is pretty good. Definitely not the best out there, but easy to make out everything around you, and is fairly clear in night time driving. It has no problem picking up area lights/signs, etc at night. Lighting quality will definitely depend on how bright your headlights are to begin with but surrounding objects it does well with. The quality of the video seems to distort a lot the dirtier your windshield is so it is important to keep it clean for a higher quality video. It comes advertised as 1080p at 30fps but you also have to option to change the quality to 720p at 60fps which is the setting I normally run as it captures smoother video using double the frames per second. It is not always able to capture license plates, depending on how fast the other car is moving and your lighting conditions.
Sound quality is pretty decent. I usually crank my music up while driving and only has a minor amount of distortion during playback. The mic has pretty good sensitivity so you can hear talking outside of the vehicle, but not sure how far the range is.
The camera also has a lane departure warning system built in that you can turn on and off, but I have not used that feature yet.
Overall this a really good dash cam to have, especially for the price to help keep you or your family protected from liability's while on the road, or just to make video's for Youtube.

Pro's: Works as advertised. Has long cord. Easy set up. Decent picture. Good enough price. Came with everything needed to use in the car and download / view on PC. Fairly straight forward operation, although it's easy to fumble wrong button when attaching to windshield, especially the emergency record button. No GPS to use against you if it came to that (i.e. speed).
Con's: Weak mounting bracket. Although I haven't broken the suction cup to mounting bracket, it seems like a good possibility if trying to adjust camera aim without loosening the friction ring well enough, or when trying to remove from window without targeting the suction cup itself. Wide angle lens is good, but captures too much of the car, or other objects on window not necessary. A factor of where you mount it, but unless you mount it square in the middle of the window, a lot of the camera view isn't the road.
Bottom Line: A good buy if you're careful with the mounting bracket. Day recording is good, license plates readable about two to three parked car lengths ahead. Night recording OK, can see only those things well lit by street or headlights. License plate readable when parked right behind car in front. See's traffic lights well.

The camera performs very well when it is on and the parking and collision detection are quite sensitive. I found those aspects very reassuring. However, this product is sold as a portable "rechargeable" device. The battery only lasts about 30 minutes, and will only charge while powered on. This means that constant battery charge damage is immediate instead of gradually over time. This also means that it needs to be constantly plugged to be of any use. While it gets a little warmer than seems normal for such a small device. This raises my concern about the type of battery that is in it and if the heat would cause it to fail, or at very least cause damage to the LCD display. The suction cup is not very securely attached to the plastic bracket. The bracket is free to spin around the suction cup. After using this 1 day I have realized that a dash cam is the right solution for my needs but this Uniden Camera is far from adequate.
I will be exchanging this device tomorrow for something else.

Bought this dashcam in 05/16. It is now 08/16 and this camera is still working well. Easy to setup and operate. Great picture! Screen is tiny, but so is the camera. This makes it easier to mount. Plugs into tv and computer with no problems. I did have an issue with the power cord breaking shortly after purchasing, but the warranty (which is easy to use) took care of it. Has worked fine since. Definitely recommend.

The display is nice and the camera takes nice video. Not everything on the camera worked well. Example, the power button does not work at all. A micro SD card is needed to connect to the computer however that cord is not included.

This is a great little camera with excellent quality pictures. I have over 3000 miles on it and have reviewed a lot of them. The only slight drawback I find is that the files are rather large so do not lend themselves to being emailed. I also have not noticed the lane departure warning, maybe I just drive well!!! All this being said, I would recommend this dashcam if you do not want to spend huge amounts of money.

I am very impressed with the video quality of this camera. I can also easily take stills with it. The price I paid was very reasonable as I got it on sale. You can also capture stills on your computer when you edit the video. I like this for security, but I purchased it primarily because I often see something I would like a photo of as I am driving. Unfortunately, I cannot always stop to tke a picture because the driving situation doesn't allow it. It is great to have the ability to use either the quick still capture or to get it later as a screen capture from the video.

After I had far too many people cut me off and do stupid things on the road I researched a dash Cam and purchased this one. It works well and was worth the money - knowing full well someone will hit me one day and I might want to prove my side of the story. The unit is small but easy to use and its easy to erase old footage when you no longer need it. Although it only comes with a 8g memory card I have no problem with the storage as I am not recording my trips just the road and traffic issues. I really like that I can hit the lowest button at any time and it will record as an emergency that will not be erased until I do it manually.

Hard to "capture the moment" if you need to record an event on the camera. Night vision is questionable. Lane deviation becomes overly annoying and had to discontinue as it was beeping at every increment. Overall a good beginners camera but looking for a more user-friendly cam.

Set up was easy and installation was fine. The unit sticks to the windshield very well but the camera continues to stop recording I believe when it feels like it.
Will try another brand for dash camera.

The Dash Cam Is small but effective with the features it has. I leave it attached to the windshield at all times. I don't feel it calls attention to itself. The menu driven setup works easily and entering settings is straight forward. I like the wide angle lens feature.
