    The Valkyrie Revolution

The Valkyria, the embodiment of death, is returning to the battlefield in Valkyria Revolution, and players will have to do - and sacrifice - whatever is necessary to liberate their homeland. With an engaging story full of political intrigue, a battle system that mixes real-time combat and tactical strategy, a gorgeous visual style, and more, the game will immerse players into the frontlines of a desperate war.

I love the fact that Best Buy puts collectors edition games that weren't picked up by pre-order customers on the shelf after a while so those who missed out still have a chance! The game itself is a fine strategy tactical strategy game, but the bonuses at the great price make it even better.

If you have played Valkyria Chronicles, you will love this as a continuation of the story...many many years later. It is more of a story and not as much playing, but it is still good to sit down and lose yourself in that story.

I've played about 2 hours of this game and though it's not exactly like Valkyria Chronicles it does share a few similarities in combat but it's most action and not turned based. It's very story heavy, the opening felt like 30 minutes of cut scenes. I will continue to give this game more time, but so far it's just not scratching that Valkyria Chronicles itch like I had hoped.

A game that is seperate from the past Valk series but a refreshing and amazing new style of gameplay. It has an intriguing cast of characters and a unique set of battles that bring a refreshing style of the much needed series. The series is good and came with alot of freebies. It is cheap to get and its good to buy and try out. If you want a new take on the tactical battles, get this game!

Pretty good battle system once you get to it. Be prepared to maybe battle 2 or 3 times though in the first hour as cut scenes and excessive text occupies 95% of the first hour. A shame they used the GREAT Valkyria name though. It seems Sega lets sales numbers dictate whether they make sequals.

I enjoy this game a lot, however...

While I really enjoy this game's characters, the story, the soundtrack, and the boss battles, there's a lot of annoyances here. If any of the following turn you off, you may not enjoy this game: 1. There are TONS of cutscenes, more than actual gameplay, and the cutscenes are split up by a TON of loading screens. I haven't seen this many loading screens in a game since Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. Luckily, this game's a lot better than that one. 2. Gameplay takes a backseat to the story. Personally, I'm a fan of many of the characters, so the story is interesting to me. I'm normally not one for anime, however I am enjoying this. That said, it's too bad that they're so frequent since I'd like to be able to enjoy more of the gameplay if there was more of it. 3. Graphically, I think the game looks pretty nice, however it's still pretty dated with stilted & robotic animations that would be more at home in a PS2 game. This doesn't bother me much since many Japanese games are behind western games in this regard. There's a lot to like here, however there's a lot to dislike too, so just be aware of that before buying.

I have always been a fan of the Valkyria series. As with most of them, this entry is enjoyable however the gameplay seems to get disrupted by the story cutscenes very often. The game looks great, plays well and the story is very well written. Be prepared though to sit through very lengthy cutscenes and load scenes before taking back control if your character.

Revolution spins an intriguing tale of betrayal within the Alt-Europa land where the game is set. A mix of technology and magic fuels the flames of war that serves the backdrop of the story. Beautiful artwork, character design and soundtrack serve to help the story keep flowing. Definitely recommend for those who played the first game back on the PS3.

I was a big fan of Valkyria Chronicles and was hoping that this would be more of the same. I suppose my nostalgia for Valkyria Chronicles spoiled my impression of this game. For me it was tedious and repetitive in many spots. Wasn't feeling it in the end. If you never played Valkyria Chronicles you'll probably like this game. Otherwise if you're a fan pass on this one.

This game has an excellent combination of RTS and RPG elements. This combination is sure to keep you entertained for hours and hours. The Valkyria series has always delivered great story with strategic planning and this installment is no exception.

Shouldn't be compared to the other games

Starting off, this *is* part of the Valkyria universe but should be seen as a side story and doesn't play the same as previous games, which isn't a bad thing. Visually, it's easy to tell this isn't a native PS4 game. Animations are somewhat stiff at times and aren't completely fluid. Graphics could be better, but this game is also on a portable system, you can tell the engine used is scalable to work on weaker hardware. There is also a major difficulty spike more than half way through the game that almost requires you to have skills and gear maxed out to that point. It can get rather frustrating if you don't like or want to grind. But if you don't mind that and get past the fight easily; the game, story and characters are entertaining enough. The music is also great.

    Fun and beautiful, but different

Valkyria Revolution is the newest game in the Valkyria series and the most important thing to note is that it is a spin-off. Making a return are the beautiful, water-colored visuals that the series is known for and the fantasy pseudo-WWII Europe setting. The character designs are great, the music is scored by Yasunori Mitsuda and it's fantastic, and the game features top-notch Japanese voice acting. What's different is probably the most divisive thing that could have changed. Rather than the turn-based- grid-based strategy RPG approach of the previous games, this game takes to a more pseudo-real time combat system that utilizes an active-time bar found in many Final Fantasy games. This is a huge departure for the series, but as it is a spin-off, differences are to be expected. And despite the great change, it still retains an element of strategy and planning that veterans of the series would be familiar with. Valkyria Revolution is a good game with a couple of flaws, but I would recommend RPG fans to give it a shot.

The gameplay could be smoother, nevertheless the story is just as intense as any other Valkyrie title!
