I grew up listening to the music. I enjoy Martin Scorsese and Mick's input is clear. Some of the story / scenes are a bit harsh, but the story wraps up nicely by the conclusion of season one, which is good because it was not renewed. This is not something all would enjoy - so I would selectively recommend to friends / colleagues. BTW - first bought a Blue Ray that did not play / was defective.

Fantastic HBO show about a fictitious record company in the early to mid 1970's . The cast is great as are some of the rock stars that are portrayed here . Great plot with interesting stories that hook the viewer quick . Sadly this truly entertaining show was surprisingly cancelled by HBO after one season but the first season on blu-ray or DVD is an excellent addition to anyone's collection !

Realistic fiction of music industry in early 1970s

The series is a good representation of the music industry in the early 1970s. It starts with the actual economics of the industry and moves into the stagnation that developed by the seventies. The series is focused on one label in New York City music scene. As the series progresses, it concentrates on the label's primary owner and his personal and professional relationships.

It's too bad "Vinyl" didn't get a chance to expand on a fascinating story. Bobby Cannavale is perfect as the music-and-drug-obsessed record man, and production values are first rate. True, the drug thing does take over all too often, but the ambitious series holds up to multiple viewings. Looks good and grimy on Blu-ray. Sound is okay if not exceptional.

An interesting drama series depicting a struggling record company through the early 70's. I really liked the mix of fictitious characters used with real musicians of that time. Jagger does an excellent job as music producer for the show. Just sorry there isn't going to be a second season.

Terrific program, excellent representation of that time period. A mix of actual performers from that time and actors playing their parts. The group performing as the Velvet Underground were particularly dead on. Technically the audio and video are outstanding.

Vinyl shows another interesting side to the music industry and the birth of several music styles. Inside the record company, powers clash and scramble to stay relevant in the music biz. The series fails when it tries to mimic artists we already celebrate but succeeds when it creates new material.

Not sure why HBO would pull this show. It was a very entertaining show. Especially if you like music. I hope Netflix or some other network picks it up. Glad to get the Blu-Ray.

It's a shame they didn't renew this series for a 2nd season. The acting was great, the backdrop of 70's NYC music set quite a stage for this series!

As an avid fan of all HBO shows I bought this without question. The show was good and worth the purchase price. Filmed a little differently than most traditional HBO shows.
