Customers appreciate the replacement remote for its better design and long range, which allows them to remotely start their vehicles from a distance. However, some users have concerns about the battery life and durability of the remotes, as they have experienced dead batteries and short lifespans.

Unit did not work exchanged it for new one and that one did not work, Both units had dead battiers in them. No one in the store knew when service tech installer would be in house. So had to keep going back till he was in the shop. He was the one who found the dead battles. Not happy with my whole experience!

Design Flaws

This remote obviously had design flaws, viper doesn't even list it in their site anymore since they've replaced it with the 7254 model due to the faulty battery covers. Both of my remotes are broken. I barely ever used one of them. Turns out this is a very common problem that the backs are brittle and the lip holding in the back plates crumbles off. I contacted Viper online and sent them pictures and they are replacing both of mine. They should just issue a recall.
Other than the horrible casing the remote actually works great. The battery drains a little faster than I would like but I guess that is due to the 2-way function.

It's really a 7254V.

I bought this as a replacement to my 2 way remote that died. I bought it online and picked up in the store. When I picked it up, I noticed the remote was all black, and the package said 7254V, but had a 7251V sicker over it. Apparently the original 7251V is discontinued, and this is the replacement.
This remote is a MUCH BETTER improvement over the older remote. The battery compartment is in the front, instead of the back, and doesn't fall off anymore. The buttons are much hard to press, meaning the remote won't go off in your pocket anymore.
Programming was easy. Just follow the directions on the package. It even came with batteries already installed.

Cheaply made remotes

I got my Viper 5301 system 2 winters ago. I loved it when I first got it and was very happy. The problem is that they only give you one 2-way remote and one 1-way remote. Within probably 3 months my 2-way remote broke a notch and this isn't fixable other than with electric tape or duck tape because the door doesn't break...The little notch on the main remote that HOLDS the door shut is what breaks. I then switched to my 1-way remote and within another few months the same problem happened again. For the last year I keep having to re-tape the device because it just doesn't hold. (I paid around $500 for this device and I have to put up with this?) Then when it loses connection with the battery there is about a 15 second tune or whatever that starts playing every time it re-connects to the battery which is very annoying. I'm really not sure how Viper got to be as popular as they are with the cheap remotes they give you.

Unit only lasts about 9-13months, and every time I need a new one I am outside of my year warranty. The back of the unit keeps breaking and Viper doesn't even cover that under their warranty. What a horrible device.

I wanted to get a remote system for my car. There were some strange things about remote start on the vehicle. We found out that everything was in place except there was not a remote!! Oh happy days! The tech setup the remote and sync'd it with my system and I am ready for winter!!! I know it is still May, but I'm ready... I can even get the AC going early if I want. Works like it was made to work!!!

Viper Mistake

Just bought my 6th remote. They last about 6 months. I'm not too rough on my stuff, but the back always breaks off. I literally had my last one for a month when I accidentally dropped my keys from my pocket and the back just snapped off. Viper needs to seriously reengineer this remote so that it is usable. It also constantly goes off in my pocket. What a piece of junk.

The four little pins that hold the batter cover just broke for no reason after a year. For such an expensive remoter, the quality is unacceptable.
