Sound is great but lag time with audio prevents its use with new 4k tv

Excitedly purchased this soundbar after reading the good reviews and figured it would pair best with my new Vizio TV. Well, after 3-4 hours of troubleshooting, I've learned four things: 1) this sound bar looks cool, it's only redeeming quality. 2) it barely works, the sound quality is fine, but the HDMI-ARC is the better part of useless, huge delays with the audio (which cannot be adjusted for the better, only for the worse. 3) i was lucky to "only" spend $269 on this, if I paid $469 for it, I'd be even more hurt. 4) every time I turn the TV off, I need to set it up again. Do yourself a favor and find a different sound bar, or just go without, both are better options than this junk.

This unit packs quite the sonic wallop for its size. Setup was a breeze using a smartphone (I typically get irritated by having to use a smartphone to setup and access functions with tech equipment that has nothing to do with your phone- but this may be the first setup experience that made that worthwhile). You can use your smartphone as the unit remote, as well- which is a little easier to use than the supplied remote, though the latter is perfectly adequate. On the subject of remotes, it is amazingly easy to program the sound bar to respond to your TV remote's volume control (note how I said that- you don't have to mess with your other remote at all, it is the soundbar that learns what signal to respond to. Brilliant!). This is awesome if you have other (perhaps universal) remotes that you programmed to control your TV... because they now will all magically work with the soundbar! (Ok, granted, it's engineering- not magic.) Obviously this is not a "surround" sound unit- it has no rear speakers- but the volume and depth of sound it puts out is amazing. And everything is completely wireless, so setup is easy. For a smallish room, this is much more than enough. The soundbar has bluetooth connectivity, and sounds better than my (more expensive) bluetooth music speakers. It's easy enough for my wife to use, which is more than I can say for any other tech in the house, so it got a big thumbs up from her. So, obviously I was provided this product for this review. So you might be taking the above with a big grain of salt (which would be prudent). But I can tell you this- unlike many other products I've reviewed- this unit is going to be a permanent fixture in my household. It sounds amazing for music and television. Setup was easy, as is adjustment to sound parameters (particularly with the smartphone app). It is nearly seamless as part of my TV setup. It's compact, wireless, and therefore unobtrusive. It's not a complete surround system, nor does it try to be. The upward firing speakers work well to provide the sensation of being enveloped by the soundtrack, even without rear speakers. In a smaller media room, where mutliple speakers tend to get a bit muddy (and directional sound really only works well for the person sitting in the absolute center)- this is the perfect solution. I really love this thing.

Maybe I got a dud? I purchased this as an open box item, supposedly inspected and 100% functional. The ARC connection worked once and then never connected again. The Bluetooth functionality did not want to work, I had to connect to it as as WiFi connection and then Bluetooth. Overall issue after issue. Sent it back for a refund. This is the first time I am ever disappointed in a Vizio product.

Initially is was great but stopped working after 4 months.

I previously had a smaller, less expensive home sound theater system and it is true, you get what you pay for! The sound on this home theater is nice and crisp clear and it makes listening to music/watching movies/playing games a lot better. It has a nice slim design,and its wonderful for small spaces. I had a little trouble with set up (But I think it was my WiFi glitching). Definitely a great product, I would recommend to a friend.

The first thing to say is WOW! This little system hits hard in your listening area, with a small footprint. It pairs well with most new dvd and tv units that support ARC. If you have a blue-ray or 4K player you should have ARC built-in. Older dvd players may not support this. With that said, this unit is designed to work with most rooms with a ceiling height of 8-12 ft.high. Basciallly, this unit utilizes upfiring atmos speakers on top to give you an emersive experience that you would get in a theater. The main speaker is only 3 inches tall and 36 inches wide. The subwoofer is about 4 inches wide by 16 inches long by 20 inches tall, it can lay on its side or stand upright. There are two very small brackets included for mounting the soundbar to the wall if would like to. The sub is bluetoothed automatically to the soundbar, so there's no need to worry about an extra setup for another device. Kick the unit on with sub placed behind your seating area and prepare to be amazed. This tiny sub hits hard and I am also surprised with how much power the soundbar produced. Interface is nice. It includes a remote, however functions are limited. The app gives you much more. You can easily connect to your phone or tablet in a few clicks. I experienced no problems. With that being said, I give this Vizio Soundbar a 5 star rating. If you need a soundbar, I would definately consider this one. It competes with the big guys no problem. So the bang for the buck is big!
