Over the years I've pieced together a 7.1 surround sound system for our family room by going to pawn shops and garage sales. Our system became unreliable and needed constant audio adjustments depending on what we were watching. I started doing research and we needed up buying this Vizio system because of the price, the excellent sound and easy set up. After doing a lot of research online and going into Best Buy to actually listen to many soundbar systems I ended up getting this one. Out of the box easily set up and ready to go! Minimal work was needed. Sounds better than the system I had. We like it so much I'm going to be relocating the bar closer under the Panasonic 50" Plasma where it should be. I also bought wire hiding kits to run the wires in the walls so they won't be seen. You won't be disappointed with this sounder kit. Our family room where this is located is 14X20 and the TV is at one of the far ends. I installed it about two months ago and have been using it blissfully ever since.

I researched and tried many soundbar systems before settling in on the Vizio 40" 5.1 with sub and rear satellites. The system does not disappoint. Setup is amazingly quick and easy. The soundbar is a huge upgrade to my Samsung 65" 4K TV. Listening to ballgames, you will hear things that you never knew they broadcast. The sound from the soundbar itself is strong and the center channel is just strong enough. Having the rear satellite speakers is a huge plus for the 5.1 experience. The sub is nice although I wish there was more ability to tune it. In some movies with huge bass sound effects, you may experience a little bit of "rattling" noise. But again this is a system I was able to get for just under $300. The mounting brackets are simple and flat. I chose to purchase some new wall mount brackets that were adjustable to tilt and swivel since I needed to mount the speakers high on the rear wall. Choose any other wall mount brackets carefully since the speaker connecting wire has a very large head on the RCA connection that goes into the speaker and may cause issues attaching the speaker to your mounting bracket. I had to mount the brackets that I purchased upside down to make mine work; but that worked out okay as well. In the end, you won't get a better sounding soundbar system or functionality until you spend well above the $1,000 mark. This is a great buy for someone who is wanting a nice full room sound but doesn't want to spend the same price as the TV for it.

I was not looking for a blow your hair back theater experience when I purchased this sound bar. We simply wanted a good value unit that did the following. 1. improve the voice portion of tv shows and movies (flat panel tv speakers make it difficult to serparte voices from background). 2. Give a decent surround sound experience. 3. Be convenient to set up without a lot of wiring. Vizio is doing all that we asked for. The set up, with rear channel speakers plugging into the wireless sub made it very convenient and easy to put into place. The center channel (voice) separation is very good and makes for a much better viewing experience. The overall surround sound is pretty good. It does not compete with higher end Bose systems and others, but at the price point it is quite good. The sub woofer is a bit of an overachiever and requires a little tweaking of settings to reduce the bass levels for some programs, but when it is toned down a bit it works very well for our purposes.

I spent a couple of months shopping and reviewing sound bars for our living room TV. After listening to several different brands and models in the store I decided on the Vizio. I came to this decision as it sounded as good as the much higher priced Klipsch and other high end speakers. I'm more than happy that I did. It sounds great with solid bass response and clear mid and high range. Another plus is it comes with all cables you need. Setup was a breeze and I couldn't be happier. Movies and music sound awesome now and almost as well as our home theatre in the basement!

This set went perfectly with our 60" Vizio that we also bought from Best Buy. Instructions were easy to follow and it was ready to go,including pairing the remote to the tv, in under an hr, while simultaneously cooking dinner. I agree with the other reviews that the defaults have the bass set too high but it an easy adjustment in the remote menu setting. We also love that it's bluetooth and can easily connect to our phones and iPad to listen to music. Great for parties. We've had it for about 3 months now and are still happy with it. This sound bar with the surround speakers at this price was a steal. I purchased online and did store pick up. Perfect customer experience.

Best Sound Bar System Under $1K

I shopped around, tested, etc. for several months trying to decide what sound bar system to buy without spending more than the cost of my large TV. I ended up with this Vizio system and I am not disappointed. Easy setup and connection out of the box. The included sub and rear speakers is a must to simulate 5.1 theater sound. With this set up you will hear things during sports broadcasts that you didn't know were broadcast if you have been listening through your TV speakers. The speakers have mounting brackets included. But if you need to tilt and/or swivel the rear speakers to direct the sound, you will need to purchase additional mounting brackets. The only issue with mounting the rear speakers to a mounting brackets is the very large head on the RCA connector of the speaker wire. It can pose a problem to mount the speaker to the bracket. Overall, you can't beat the value for the system to get a great sound. You have to get to a Definitive Technology system with starts at ~$1.3K just for the sound bar before you get better. So save some bucks for other things you want and get this.

Picked this up as a gift for my parents on Black Friday on sale for $229. I must say that I was surprised by the quality of the sound this system produces. Pros: -Easy Setup (<15 minutes) -Comes with all cables included (HDMI, Digital Coaxial, Optical, RCA) -Long length cables for satellite speakers -Great quality for price -Auto tuned for surround sound Cons: -AC plug on subwoofer is very short, about 2-3ft long. Digital Optical cable is also fairly short. All the other plugs/cables are very generous. I hooked this up to their new Sony - 55" Class (54.6" Diag.) Model: XBR55X850C via the digital optical cable. Did a test run on Top Gun for my dad and he was blown away by it and I have to agree with him. Great surround sound with direct connection to TV (no receiver). Comes with wall mounts and a paper template to make it a super easy install. Couldn't be happier with what I got. Even at non-sale price I might have to get one for myself.

This sound bar brought life to my living room. I really never desired to hang out in our living room and watch tv at night. I usually hang out in our bedroom but with this addition to the living room, I have really been watching tv more out there. The quality is really something for the price of the sound bar system. Quality of the build is also quit impressive for the price. LOVE the wireless bass box with surround speakers. So easy to set up and enjoy! The only negative is the music does not sound the greatest because of the fading in and out like some other reviewers have stated. It is not horrible and I can tolerate it. I think turning the surround off helps a lot with that. Overall well worth the money, probably worth more!!!

The price of this system was really perfect. I did test drive this system at my local store before making my choice. I have to say the setup was very easy and the sound quality is very very good. I would highly recommend this surround bar system to anyone looking for a high quality surround system.

For the price (currently on sale for $299.99), you really can't beat this sound system. There are no other comparable systems that provide the 5.1 "experience" at this price point. Vizio created a smart design, capable of supporting a wide variety of TV styles and connections. I hooked this up to my 55" Panasonic and had no issues whatsoever. The unit turns on when the TV turns on, as well as off when the TV is powered down. The sound quality is crisp and enhances any show/movie you may be watching. The satellite speakers are very quiet, which has me a little iffy on the quality of the surround experience, but the sub produces well; I imagine that due to the wireless aspect, a lot of the quality is lost/distorted--same issue I have with my wireless Beats. The length of cable provided for the satellite speakers, however, is very generous. Nice to see they don't force you to place them very close to the tethering point (i.e. the subwoofer). Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase so far!

This sound system has been as good as advertised! I had read several glowing reviews and I agree with all of them. Easy set up, great sound, not a premium price. If there is one negative, it is that the bass is a little strong.

I had been looking for a sound bar to use with my 60 inch tv for a while now. After doing research on line and in person listening I settled on Vizio as being the best quality for the dollar. I had considered their 2 and 3.1 systems but am glad I went for the 5.1 system as there are so many movies available in this format the surround really adds a lot . The settings are all easy to use via the remote and set up was complete in a matter of minutes. As others have noted you may need to lower the bass with some material. This system is a great value and even better if you catch it on sale.

These speakers were incredibly easy to setup. I might help that I also bought a new Vizio TV to go with it. Either way, I plugged it in, and turned it on and it just started working. Didn't have to configure my TV, or the wireless sub or anything. This might be different if you have a TV from a different manufacturer. The sound it amazing. Probably a little too much for my little living room, but better too much than too little. I turned it off after a week to remind myself what the TV sounded like by itself. All I can say is, i'm never going back to TV speakers alone. The TV speakers sounded fine when I first got it but now that I'm used to the 5.1 surround the TV speakers just sound flat and lifeless in comparison.

I reviewed many soundbars and listened to them as well. I had a full Klipsch surround speaker set plus a receiver but have to downsize due to a move. This Vizio system is rated as one of the top soundbars of the year. What caught my eye about this is the true surround sound system as you get two rear speakers that plug into the subwoofer. The wires are very long and did not hinder me from speaker placement. Sound is much better compared to the Samsung that has 2 rear speakers. This system really puts out great sound and great surround too. This is coupled with my Samsung 55" 3D tv. Levels are easy to adjust. Instructions are clear, setup is easy. Easy programming with my TV remote too. Sub is compact and gives awesome bass. Overall speaker construction is better than last years models as the speakers are not covered with fabric but full metal mesh. Nice inputs in back allowing optical or ARC hdmi. Bluetooth connection no problems at all. Remote is small, sometimes difficult to read. No lcd screen on soundbar just a row of led light to show you level you are adjusting. (They gotta cut costs somehow at this price point) Also, soundbar is a 1/2-1 inch taller than most. But I'm getting used to it. For the remote and the size I'd probably take off a half star if the rating allowed me. But all in all, I got it on sale plus I had a $25 gift card. So for $200 I'm very very pleased!

I have been an audiophile for decades and this surround sound has not disappointed at all! I really love that the subwoofer is wireless and that it set up within 15 minutes (I have a Vizio 60" LED Smart TV!) it may take a few minutes longer with another name brand TV...not sure...yet...the sound is incredible and really has no cons...the rear speakers ARE wired to the subwoofer, however...it all sits in the back of the room anyway and the wires are way longer than you may ever need! Again...simple set up with wifi and am very happy with the system! Great price too...

My big surround sound system blew out so instead of spending 800 or more got this. Audio volume is not bad at really high volume it gets distorted and med to low volume Crystal clear. The bass is a tad loud but I don't mind. Kinda sounds hollow and very distorted at high volume. Bluetooth works really well. All in not bad for the price could be better the pioneer sound bar my brother has is much better and cheaper.
