This was arguably the best mid-budget TV of 2018. And PQ today still holds up compared to current mid-budget offerings.

I've had this tv for 3 days and I'm going to return it. Very bad screen uniformity, banding in almost all content and when any camera pans you will notice it every time. Vizio's response to my photo was to revert to factory settings. Should've waited for professional reviews before buying this.

This TV set my hair on fire

I've had the TV for a few days and have been testing as much as possible so I'll try to break it down as quickly as possible. Picture Quality-9 I own a 2016 OLED and although the blacks are better, this PQ makes up for it with color and brightness. If you enjoy sports, have some 4k HDR movies, or binge Netflix this TV has some serious chops. I've rewatched a few movies I like to use for comparisons (Gravity, Mad Max, Logan) and the blacks are fantastic with searing highlights and beautiful color. I can't stress how bright this set can get when watching HDR content. Just blistering and the colors just scream from one spectrum to the next. For uniformity and dirty screen I haven't run into any visible stripes or bands on this set. There is slight banding in the grays, but nothing extreme or out of the ordinary. I did see a lot on my 2016 Vizio P series that I ended up sending back as well as some pink stripes on my OLED, but I was pleasantly surprised when I turned to the NHL network and was presented with not only excellent bright clean whites, but fantastic motion handling. I tried some golf and a lot of football and I'm happy to report this TV will be a gem for anyone who views fast motion content and sports. No trails at all like I saw on my 900F. Can't wait for football season. Quality-7 There's a reason why this TV has the specs it has for the price. I just hope it's cosmetic and not going to cause any reliability issues. The remote is cheap. It works fine, but the whole thing just doesn't feel premium, but I think Vizio is marketing this TV to people who want an excellent panel and will either use their phone or their own universal remote system. I'm in that category so I'm ok with that. The body felt fine. The bezels are thin and on par with other set's in this price range. Maybe 1/2" black strip all the way around, but no visible physical bezels. The HDMI placement on the back is great. I wall mounted and didn't have any issues getting to the ports I needed. Back is made of fairly sturdy soft touch plastic with a lot of ventilation across the top ridge. Legs are chrome which I think is a dumb choice. They felt really light and mount to the ends so that might be an issue for some who don't have a 60" entertainment center. I would wall mount if possible. Gaming-9 Amazing. Low input lag, excellent motion handling, and great color make this a gamers dream. I only wish it had variable refresh rate like the Samsung. I think that would have made this tv competitive with the Big Format Gaming Display that's in development by Nvidia. That TV is expected to cost close to $5000 and will be for PC enthusiasts. For consoles, having tried a Sony 900F and not being wowed like I am with TV, I wouldn't consider anything other than maybe the Samsung Q9FN. But again that TV is $3500. This TV punches above its weight class in so many areas that it really is a product in its own category. For those afraid of burn in from an OLED like what happened with mine, then I'd say this is a very good option. I've since moved the OLED to the bedroom and wanted something brighter for the living room and this did the trick. Sound-5 They're fine if you don't want premium sound, but once you turn the volume up it's like every TV with internal speakers, they distort. If you buy this TV and don't pair it with a sound system you're missing out. Apps-7 I tried them. They're not great. Slow and clunky, but they got the job done. Smartcast using your phone was great. Worked just fine. I think this is going to be the way to go if you absolutely need to use the apps. I'd recommend using a 3rd party device like an AppleTV 4k to get the most out of this TV. If you prefer android try a shield tv. Very capable device and I use mine for gamestream a lot. Overall I'm very happy. It's an amazing panel loaded with features and specs that other manufacturers just can't touch for that price. Vizio placed this TV in a goldilocks zone at a price I think the average consumer can stomach. I think once they start to make their way to the endcaps of big box stores and rtings.com pushes out their review in the next couple weeks this TV will be worth picking up. I'm an early adopter type who loves tech so I took a risk and it paid off. Looks like the search to replace my OLED is finally over.

I purchased this TV from another retailer due to Best Buy not having it anymore. Got to say this TV has the best picture quality I've ever seen. It gets very bright, too bright in some cases but displays HDR/Dolby Vision content excellent. The viewing angle does slightly deteriorate when off center but it's not bad. It has the best black levels of any LED TV out there except OLED but from what I've seen in the reviews, it very closely approaches OLED and is not far off. There is slight blooming around letters that are bright and so finding the right settings may take you some time. Overall, you won't be disappointed with this TV.

The 2016 P Series made me change my mind about the Vizio Brand. That TV blew me away. So when I heard about an even better Vizio P Quantum coming out I had to try it. I've been using it for a few days now, I've tested and calibrated it. Wow. Best TV I have ever owned. It is NOT perfect though, but worth the price. Positive: +Picture Quality is Excellent +Perfect for bright rooms (what I use it for) +HDR handling is also excellent. (Better than regular P series) +Anything 1080P or higher resolution looks amazing! +Gaming is smooth, works perfectly with Xbox one X in HDR Negatives: -Anything below 1080P looks fuzzy. There are setting to try and clear it up but still noticeable. On par with previous Vizio tv's. -The screen itself is a quarter inch tilted. I mean inside of the frame the TV is not even. It tilts to the left side 0.3 inch. It is only noticeable if you look at it closely. -The built in speakers are terrible. You must get a soundbar. -Some TV Channels in 1080i format cause black dots to appear on the screen (along the edges). I can't determine if this is a problem with the video source or the TV's processing.

    Amazing Value

This TV is the number 1 rate TV by Rtings.com for HDR and standard video games. It's also toe to toe with the OLEDs on black levels. Be warned, the picture is BRIGHT. I use it in a dark basement, and turning the backlight up to 100 is probably damaging to one's eyes....like staring at the sun. I've brought the backlight setting back down to 50, which is still very bright. White scenes make me wince somewhat still. This TV would be perfect for a bright room. Watching Netflix in Dolby Vision is pretty amazing. No quality issues so far with the Quantum...I had the regular P65-F1 before this, which had HDMI UHD problems. I returned it for that reason. Overall, you won't find a better TV for the price...possibly at any price. The closest competitor is the Samsung Q9F, but it's more than 2x the price.

My LG OLED 65B6P TV had screen burn. Luckily I had the Geek Squad protection so I had a chance to replace my TV with another LG OLED B8, but I got caught up in the hype of the Vizio P Series Quantum. The Rtings.com review YouTube sold me on the TV. So I got me a P Series Quantum TV to replace the OLED TV that had burn in. I got the TV installed yesterday (Saturday, Sept 15) and I started to play with the settings to activate my HDMI Ports to Full Color UHD. Then I popped in the Avengers Infinity 4k Blu Ray in My Xbox One X and played with the picture settings. The Vizio remote and menu was a challenge to maneuver coming from the LG menu system. The picture settings only had 5 or 6 options with each option providing a full array of settings to get the picture they way you want it. I found the Calibrated mode to offer the best picture w/ a few settings. Once I got it right.... MAN THE PICTURE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND BRIGHT! Great detail and black levels were a notch below my OLED TV. I also got my Xbox games looking awesome. The reason I only gave this TV 4 stars is that I'm experiencing an issue with the ARC HDMI Port intermittently losing connection. The issue occurred 3 times within a 24 hour period. Also, any video 720p or lower doesn't look good due to the TV upscale capabilities suck! Allow the Xbox One X, Apple TV, Roku, etc... to upscale your video content. Overall The Vizio P Series Quantum is a great TV for the price point.

Best picture quality of All TVs I have seen!

I have been watching this TV coming since their first debut in CES early this year.I finally got one and I can say it is definately worth the wait: this TV has the best picture quality that I have ever seen! This is not an easy achievement at all as I am very picky about the picture quality and I have seen all the premium TVs (including OLEDs) avaliable today through Best Buy and Trade Show. This is also confirmed by other reviewers such as rtings where this TV's picture quality has been rated as the best LCD TV ever tested. I am not fully agreed with the weight rtings used for grading picture quality, I think for most people the visual expericen brought by the super high peak brightness, sufficient black level and high color gamut of this TV is significantly outweighting other advantages provided by OLED TV such as its theoratically low black level and viewing angle. The first test I had for the is playing Netflix's HDR content Lost In Space Season 1 Episode 1 which is shot in true HDR camera with Dolby Vision support and high color gamut (DCI-P3) support. And the picture is so realistic that I was thinking that I was watching them in real life. For example, the LED lights on the spacesuits, the feeling of sunlight are so life-like. I have also tested the TV with the Ozark S1:E1 and I was equally impressed by the picture quality of the dark scenes in the beginning. There is one scene where the car is driving away in the dark, the tail lights from the car is so bright and life-like that I was telling myself this is what it should be! Of course, there are many contents like this for you to enjoy in Netflix's original series or Amazon's prime original series. My 2nd test is SDR content by playing movie Pearl Harbor (2001). Again the high peak brightness and rich color gave this movie a new life on the screen! Comparing to another 2018 premium UHD model from a major brand next to it, you can easily appreciate the difference and wonder why anyone won't want to pay a couple hundred dollars more to get a significant upgrade in picture quality. My 3rd test is for computer use. The screen is as uniform as the Dell UltraSharp monitor that I have and the color is significantly richer and purer as the monitor was only a sRGB monitor and this TV covers about 98% DCI-P3 color gamut and >80% BT.2020 color gamut. My next test is wi-fi speed. I am connecting to a 5G router and then watch the UHD version of the Planet Earth II through Netflix. The picture quality is again top notched and the whole video was very smooth from the beginning to the end. I have also tested the TV broacasting with local NBC channel (720P) and the picture quality still looks very sharp. Now I have had the TV for more than 3 week and have watched all kind of contents through WatchFree, Netflix, Amazon Prime video and Youtube. I am still as satisfied and as impressed as the first date that I got it, I am really enjoying watching the TV! About settings: I would recommend to use Calibrated or Calibrated Dark for Movie/Video and Standard or Computer for computer. But you may want to tweak the settings a bit to get the best picture quality. Main knob is the Xtreme Black Engine Plus which controls the local dimming, I recommend to use Medium for Movie/Video and Low for others. As for the cons, I think the start up time is a bit long, about 20 sec and the remote is quite basic. But for the price, I am not expecting more.

    Great TV so far.

I went into this year thinking of getting an OLED set. After reading about rtings torture tests, among others, that resulted in moderate to severe burn-in in OLED panels, I couldn't do it. My use case with a PC/gaming setup this burn-in risk could be a reality.. so I went looking for something comparable. This seems to be a great alternative. With close enough black levels to OLED, and an incredibly bright picture (great for HDR content), this set has treated me very well so far. Also very important to me is the input delay, which is very good in game mode. I mainly use this in a dark basement 'theater' room with the following devices: -XboxOneS mainly for 4k bluray - PC for streaming/gaming @ 4k60 (or 1080p120 for gaming) -all other manner of consoles (Switch/PS4, etc..) I've had no substantial issues as of yet and it has been a great upgrade from my old 2014 Vizio p70". I hope this review helps, and if you have any questions that you are desperate enough to ask on a review.. feel free to do so. Have a nice one. :)

    Great Picture & Great Colors!

    Posted .

The wide gamut picture produces better greens and reds than any TV I've ever owned! Colors look great watching NFL games or streaming Netflix: everything looks better with sharper colors! This TV looks bright enough to use outdoors... I placed it in a well-lit room and watch it in "calibrated mode" (the brightest default setting is "vivid") switching to "calibrated dark" at night. The 192 LEDs really do make for bright highlights in any mode. The built-in over-the-air tuner works well and had no trouble locking onto my local channels when connected to an indoor HDTV antenna. Over-the-air picture looks great as mentioned above. Two minor criticisms are that the remote appears to be an afterthought and there are no channel +/- buttons on the physical TV (only power, input, and volume controls). Additionally, the viewing angle does fall-off beyond about a 45-degree angle, but with such a large screen this only would be an issue in a very large room. Overall, the Quantum Dot nanocrystals, ultra-bright viewing, and HDR combine to make a great TV. It's worth seeing in-person!

    Wait Till Next Year

I was anticipating this tv for over 6 months. Three months after release it went on a significant sale. When does a tv's high-end set drop so much, so quick? Never, that's when. I was leary seeing the sale, but went with it anyway. After seeing the "professional" review online, saying it was on par with tv's double it's price, I felt more at ease about the purchase. Being a field supervisor for a large cable company, I figured I could iron things out. Nope! The tv looks horrendous out of the box. So if you're a person that doesn't adjust any settings, don't even glance in this direction. It took me over a WEEK to dial in the colors perfectly, and that's even trying the "calibrated" settings online, which didn't help much. I was replacing a 2014 Vizio M series 4K, 65" (with no HDR) with this Quantum. This new tv was actually worse in key areas. The picture for a cable signal, which are terribly compressed signals to start with, was abysmal. Any 720p or 1080i signal just looked worse than my 2014 M series. The M series I had, which is also 4K, has a much better upscaler. This Quantum degraded a cable signal worse than I've ever seen. It takes the bad parts of the signal and amplifies them. To get the picture to be watchable I had to turn off full array local dimming (fald), which it one of the selling points of 192 zones. Next problem was the ethernet adapter for the tv and how it runs apps. Another step backwards. I have my tv hardwired, not wireless, and if I put on Vudu or Netflix the tv would start at 480p, then after a minute get to 720p, then slowly 1080p. Eventually it made its way to 4K but then HDR took even longer to kick in (This is with a 200 Mbps internet connection btw). Where as my M series would immediately snap on a 4K image. Being this happened with a direct hardwired connection, I would guess wireless to be worse. This was the biggest reason it went back. The build quality was cheap, but passable. I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't mount the living room tv. The legs have to be jammed up into a slot and the screw holes would not line up properly. You may not want to mount this tv right away either because you may be returning it. Brightness.... Way too bright. You basically have to have a setting for day and a setting for night. Because at night time it feels like you're looking at the sun. There's really not a good universal way to set it and who wants to keep switching settings around? Gaming looked great with the Xbox One X and the regular PS4. You don't even need to use the low input lag port (port 5), which isn't 4K. Although it looked good, it did take a significant amount of time to fine tune the settings between the tv and the consoles themselves. Sound... I actually found this to be one of the tv's strengths and it's not even that good. The dialogue was good, though the sound flat overall. But that is to be expected with tv's nowadays, with speakers behind the tv. A soundbar or AV system isn't necessary, but advised. Last but not least, the picture wasn't a significant improvement over a 4 year old M series 4K with no HDR. Therefore, not worth the investment, even with the sale price of 25% off. At full price I wouldn't not consider this tv at all. There's just too many problems. Being this is Vizio's first crack at a Quantum tv, they had to cut some corners to keep the price down. They just cut too many corners and all in the wrong places. They also don't have the experience in making this type of set. Hopefully next year will be better, and come in a 75". If you're replacing a 65" with this 65", don't even bother. You'll give yourself a headache and wonder why you didn't listen to the "cable guy."
