Good:
Bought this phone b/c the phone i recently had disconnected me from the internet when i used it, now it doesn't since i have this phone. The sleek razor look for the phone was nice. it comes with many good things such as different ringtones and you can also program a ringtone for the base which i thought was kinda cool. It also has a nice bright vibrant screen. The speakerphone was also a good plus, it was real loud and clear. I haven't been able to use the answering machine yet though.
Bad:
The bad thing about this phone was that it's hard to hear when having a phone conversation b/c i use the phone about 3-4 hours per day and i always hear myself asking the person im talking to to repeat theirselves. The ringer for both the base and the headset was low. And the phone doesn't seem that durable, if someone were to drop it on a hard surface, it would probably crack or even break in half.
All in all, it would be a decent buy for someone who doesn't use the phone that much or someone who wants to invest in a newer technology of the phone.

I bought this phone after I looked at many, many different ones. I liked the design and blue backlight of this phone. The phone is very thin and is slightly contoured so that it is comfortable to hold. Many reviewers complained of the volume being too low on this phone, but I think it is perfectly adequate. I can hear just fine on the fourth setting of five total settings. You can pick ringtones for both the handset and the base and can adjust the volume for both ringers as well, which I like. However, the ringers all sound like something that you would hear in an office building. I bought this phone knowing about the complaints in customer reviews regarding the phone's battery life. Based on what I have read in customer reviews and the product manual for the phone, I think this is a phone that you should put back on the charger sometimes. So, if you are someone who doesn't like to put the phone back on the charger until it is dead, you might not like this phone. For my purposes, I am quite happy with my purchase and was quite pleased that I was able to get it on sale from Best Buy.

Problems so far....

Well, i read the other reviews and was excited about getting this phone. I first ordered one from bestbuy.com and one of the main buttons didn't work from day 1. After 2 days, i exchanged it for the same model at a Best Buy store. Now, all the buttons work, but it has a lot of static, which is very irritating. I avoided giving it a 1 because of the great look of the phone. It is very stylish and lightweight, and i'm not sure if the static is just because i received a bad piece or all phones of this model are like this. Overall, very disappointed so far. Trying to decide what to do...

This phone has a very nice design and the menu is simple to use, very light and it looks just like a long cell phone. The problem is the battery dies too quick, you get other phone calls from around the area mixed in your own conversation & to make it worst it makes a horrible static noise that everyone hears but you. I'm looking to bring it back into the store and exchange it for something else not sure which one yet.

I never expected to get a VTech phone. I have always bought Panasonic or Sony in the past. However, when I saw this phone at the store, I noticed it looked far more modern and stylish than any of the other models of any brand. I checked it over further to see it was DECT 6.0, had a simple-yet-attractive button layout on the base and handset, and was only $60! Sure, it doesn't have a multi-color display, wallpaper, or talking caller ID, but it was the perfect choice for me. I love how great it looks and feels in my hand and the crystal clear sound quality and easy-to-read display. Also, some great little features are the "in use" and "voicemail" lights on the base unit. When someone is on any phone in the house, the "in use" light illuminates and it also appears on the handset. Whenever you receive a new voicemail, like I do with my digital telephone service, it lights up the VM light on the base and has a message on the handset. Also, this might be silly, but if you like to customize your "toys", it does let you name the phone (which appears at the top of the handset). The only negative thing I could say about this impressive product would be the fact that the menu, talk, and off/clear buttons don't light up with the rest of the keypad via the blue backlight. They ARE angled in such a way though that it is still pretty easy to find them in the dark as long as you know their layout. I HIGHLY recommend this phone. You won't regret your purchase!

Bought this phone because of it's sleek design and general quality of vtech devices, and boy am I sorry!
Sound quality using the handset is barely passable, speakerphone is worse. Battery life is REALLY bad...If I'm on the phone for 15 minutes it drains the battery.
Dialing is a hassle because the 'touchpad' style keys are unresponsive and offer no tactile feedback. Also the DTMF tones are very short, so entering passcodes or using phone menus ("press 1 to reach joe, 2 to reach jane) is a problem. I'm going to try either the AT&T or Panasonic DECT phone instead...

Slick but limited phone

I bought this phone because the phone I had was a 2.4 mhz and a wireless internet connection in another apartment interfered with its operation.
I liked the looks of this phone because it is stylish and slick looking, but I was somewhat disappointed in the limited array of ringtones it provided. The tones are all very electronic sounding, rather than providing the nice variety found in other models. Also, the remote access to messages is a somewhat cumbersome process compared to other phones I have used.
The phone is functional and certainly has been reliable, with easy installation and a rather utilitarian keypad access for setting up the various settings and functions.
It seems like a bit more effort was put into the visual design than was put into the back end operation.
It does look good sitting on a desk or table.

I've had this phone for a few weeks now, and it's working fine. It works great in my condo, but I haven't really tested it's range. I like the fact that it's simple and straightforward. No crazy handset options like uploading photos, which drives up the price. I have no interference with my wireless router, unlike my prior phone. The lack of speakerphone on the base unit is disappointing. I haven't had any of the battery life issues that other ppl keep mentioning....we'll see how it goes.

I actually have had many VTECH phones and when I saw this one had FLAT BUTTONS (so my fingers or chin didn't disconnect me or hit buttons) and a NICE BLUE back light instead of that horrid orange, I bought it. The box shows 2 other handsets on it, but I have been unable to find them even on line...or I'd get them, too!
All in all, it's a nice sleek phone and I can use it in any position and not get disconnected. Great ring tones, EZ to set up phone & answer machine. I like mine a LOT.

I read the reviews here before I purchased this phone, I could see that many people had complaints about the battery life but there were people who didn't so I decided to take a gamble. I don't talk on the phone that much and the only time this phone is not in the cradle is when I'm talking on it. The longest calls I've been on while talking on this phone were a couple of instances where the calls lasted about 25 minutes each. The phone conked out both times. I really like the design of this phone...I am sad to say I'll have to take the phone back to the store now.

This product has been designed with comfort and ease of use in mind. This phone has the clarity of a slim line phone, but the mobility of a cell phone! The range is also very good!
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a slim, easy to use (buttions and dials) phone with a large home or property.
For the price, it's a very good deal.

I read the reviews and saw the consistent issues with the battery, but figured it wouldn't be an issue for us, and it hasn't. We don't use the phone much. However, the charge IS exceptionally short lived. I left the phone off the charger just to see what would happen, and without using it, it was dead within a few hours. Also, there's no radio interference concerns, but near speakers it does create a low static hum. So it's reliable and showy, but not very practical. Especially if you've teenagers in the home.

Extremely Disappointed

I've been a fan of VTech for a number of years and my last cordless phone lasted about 7 years. This phone, however, fell far short of my expectations. Upon purchasing this model, I followed the instructions and charged the phone for approximately 24 hours (they instruct a MINIMUM of 16 hours). After taking it off the cradle, the phone then only lasted about 3-4 hours and I only talked on it for 3 minutes! The sound reception was ok, not good. I exchanged it in hopes that the battery was bad. My second try ended up being worse. The sound quality was extremely poor and I found myself plugging in my corded phone in an effort to hear the person on the other end. Then the battery problem started just as the first one. The battery life did last for the first week, but even after following the charging and recharging instructions, the battery ended up being a failure. This phone's going back and I'm picking up a different brand. :(

Great style. Everyone loves the look of the razor phone. However don't expect this phone to last long. The sound is great, the speaker phone with mute is clear, and the line in use indicator are all great features. My only issue is the small handset is easy to drop and the plastic casing does not appear to be durable enough to take the abuse.

Great everyday telephone

This phone could be mistaken for a cell phone. The build itself is as thin as most cell phones. The blue backlight enables great visibility at night. It has a large lcd screen that has many more user-friendly options. The Dtect-6.0 technology seems to create better voice recognition and less interface compared to my older 2.4ghz phone. The digital answering system works well and can record many messages. The only drawbacks are the low sound, and the fact that it isn't expandable. Otherwise i would highly recommend this phone.

The size and shape of the phone is great, but the battery life is terrible. I have looked everywhere to find the battery and no one has it.Its a shame to spend that much money on something and then can't use it when you need to.

I have never purchased a Vtech phone before this one, but I couldn't resist the sleek design. If you are a fan of the RAZR, then you know why. Besides that, its speaker phone gives great clarity and is loud. I absolutely love it. Its perfect too if you don't have a huge place because you don't need extra handsets. I have already gotten several compliments on it as well. I feel like I definitely made a great decision by choosing this product.

The Vtech No Dial Tone Phone
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I'm writing this review on July 28, 2008. I purchased this phone on July 30, 2007 and have been unhappy with it for the last four months.
The phone has developed a habit of losing it's connection to the base. When the phone is picked up from it's cradle and I press the button to talk, there is no dial tone. The handset will read "searching for base" or "unable to connect." I must unplug the phone then plug it back in to be able to dial a number or speak on the phone.
At first this behavior was intermittent, maybe once a month. Now it happens every two days. This is unacceptable in any phone made in the twenty-first century.
Today I am buying a new phone. It won't be Vtech.
BEWARE.
