Once again 4K UHD with HDR10 or Dolby Vision is showcased. It also has a very strong grainy film look that is intentional in this movie. The dark scenes are incredibly contrasted to great effect. The Dolby Atmos and LFE are exceptional as well. The aliens coming out of the ground for the initial ground assault is stunning in how low it digs with a subwoofer. Nice that it also includes the Blu-ray and digital versions.

I will always have a soft spot for this movie. It was partially filmed in Bayonne, NJ when I lived there and it was released on the day I asked my wife to marry me. Having typed all that, I really consider this one if not Tom Cruise’s best performances. He really became the working man and he really brought out the best in all his costars. What I will always complain about is the Spielberg contrived Happy Ending. I don’t ruin it but IMHO, it completely invalidates Ray’s journey. But that’s just me.

I loved the original. Saw it as a kid. It was pretty scary then and still is now. I am not a fan of remakes and when I first watched this was skeptical, but this movie is very well done! And scary! Tom and Dakota get high marks for the great acting in this. They really bring forward the angst of this alien invasion and truly bring home. The 4K version is a great remaster in both video and sound. You will not be disappointed!

I wasn't much of a fan when this film hit theaters but it has grown on me since. Tom Cruise playing the "everyman" seeing the invasion through his eyes gives us a more realistic view. We learn as he learns. Spielberg has crafted a story based more on the book than the original film and just hearing the aliens siren(?) as they destroy the countryside is truly terrifying. My only wish is that this BD was in 7.1 Surround to further enhance the soundtrack. But that is a VERY MINOR complaint! Seek out this BD at Best Buy and look for the steelbook version. I love the artwork! Highly Recommended!!

I really thought there was going to be some eye popping visuals with this 4K upgrade. Honestly With a good blu ray player you get The Same picture quality from the original blu ray version. Yes there are some scenes that are more detailed, but other than that not much different to watch, IMO. As far as the soundtrack you can definitely notice the difference with the added Atmos track. Overall I’m not that impressed with this release. It’s still a good addition to the library anyhow.

Stern Spielberg take on War of the World's is a good action movie. I had forgotten about the HUGE split the town apart sequence and the amazing special effects. I get goosebumps thinking about standing in those yards, looking to the standing lightning storm and feeling "the wind is blowing towards the storm ". On 4K about is crisp and very, very clear. Really enjoy the movie.

War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise, is a great sci-fi flick (Blu Ray). Without giving away too much about plot, Aliens come from the ground through lightning strikes in their pods. The Aliens are looking to take over the world and destroy humanity in the process. Special effects were excellent and the story moved along quickly. The film is well acted and exciting through moments of tension. War of the Worlds would be an excellent addition to any movie collection.

Dockworker Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) struggles to build a positive relationship with his two children, Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and Robbie (Justin Chatwin). When his ex-wife, Mary Ann (Miranda Otto), drops them off at Ferrier's house, it seems as though it will be just another tension-filled weekend. However, when electromagnetic pulses of lightning strike the area, the strange event turns out to be the beginning of an alien invasion, and Ferrier must now protect his children as they seek refuge.

I’ve had this movie on DVD since it was released and saw it in theaters when it came out. I’ve been looking forward to upgrading this for awhile and was not disappointed. The Atmos track is amazing and the uptick in detail/color saturation is on point. Definitely worth the upgrade. And the collectible steelbook is the cherry on top.

One of the greatest Sci-Fi movies ever made. Tom Cruise is stellar as is the rest of the cast - especially a cameo from Tim Robbins. Although the movie is about aliens coming down to take over the world - the stories foundation is that of one father's love for his family and the lengths he goes to protect them. Absolutely fantastic. It will have you scared, laughing, crying and cheering - a pretty good run of emotions from just one film.

It had been a while since I'd seen this version, but it's every bit as entertaining as I remember, and has never looked or sounded better than the 4K presentation here. There's a few really eye-popping shots that are made all the better by the upscale. Would have liked some new art for the steel, but it's awesome we even got a re-release at all!

Listing states it’s a steelbook it’s not. It’s a metalpak and the disc was loose. Movie isn’t even that good.

The movie is great, you can read reviews on that elsewhere. The steelbook looks great except that its dinged up pretty bad and the disk arrived loose. It was shipped in cardboard instead of the padded plastic that I am used to seeing from BB. Remove the dings, and this a really nice looking steelbook. I will have to reconsider online purchase of steelbooks going forward; hate that

Highly underrated, it is a masterwork by Spielberg. Riveting, terrifying, and a great catharsis for 911, Steven Spielberg thrusts Tom Cruise into fatherhood during an alien invasion. Spielberg comes up with endless cool shots, pans, and scenarios to scare the life out of the audience. Cruise very compelling, one of his best acting works.

I Purchased the CD version of the movie not long after it was released in 2005. I was always a fan of the novel and the 1953 version of the film. I was not disappointed in the 2005 version and decided it would probably be excellent to view again in 4k. I was not disappointed. Sharp picture, great sound with a film featuring tremendous special effects.

I’m sure by now most people have seen this amazing movie. However, the 4k version is by far the best release to date. It just brings everything to life in amazing quality. The Blu-ray was a true disappointment and looked more like a dvd with all the noise. I highly recommend this 4k release to anyone who is a fan of the movie!!!

I have only seen this movie once back when it came out and decided to revisit this one since it was dirt cheep at Best Buy on 4K. Glad I did, I didn't like this film back then but found myself surprised by how good it was. Also any Sci-Fi on 4K looks amazing.

I’ve seen this movie a ton of times. A lot of 4k rereleases are mediocre because they’re working with original content that wasn’t designed to viewed at home with such clarity. This is an exception. This looks fantastic. Audio was remixed with Dolby Atmos too. I’m super stoked on this purchase.

Great performances, solid direction and amazing FX make this a must own. The 4K is a step up from the already nice blu-ray with a reference quality picture and booming Atmos sound. The movie still holds up on all levels 15+ years later. Highly recommended.

I remember when this came out in 2005..i said dang that looks good..Lets fast forward to 2020..I got this on 4k..the film looked good on bluray..Heck even DVD..But the 4k format..blows them out of the water..It has extremely great sound..The visuals are out of this world..The color is really bright..And of course every movie has a great plot
