Installed three WD Red 3TB in TerraMaster NAS, no problems so far. Picked up a fourth one today to fill my last bay in the NAS since they were back in stock. Should be able to just plug in and the raid array will see it and ask if I want to initialize the drive and rebuild the array for added storage. Have been using WD drives since the mid 1980s, anyone remember the WD Winchester drives?

One of my drives was starting to act up in my Drobo. This came on sale at the right time. Installed the drive in my Drobo and has been working ever since.

This is the 'retail version' of WD30EFRX, which is the current model for 3TB NAS drive from WD. In the box there is the drive and mounting screws.
Not sure why WD30EFRX isn't displayed on the product listing. The server recognizes it as such.
While this is a new drive and time will tell, had WD NAS drives installed over two years ago with no issues.
These drives are 5400 RPM and 64MB Cache, and have firmware specific to be used in NAS/RAID configurations in smaller arrays up to 5 drives, for home and small business. It's designed to be always-on and has additional heat and vibration related designs that don't apply to desktop drives.
Note that there's a separate 'NAS PRO' line for bigger and faster arrays.
It comes with a 3-year warranty.
Used these drives with Synology NAS enclosures and connected to Linux PCs.

They're not the fastest drives available, but they're good for bulk storage, and especially for NAS use.

This is the first time I've ever used Red drives but if they are like all other WD drive they will work excellent . I have bought WD drives for the last 5 years and all are still working as I write this. So I am confident they will perforn flawlessly for many years to come

Designed specifically for NAS units, this drive was a direct replacement for one that reached its end of life. Western Digital has a solid track record in this space and I have been using their products for many years. The replacement was simple and performance has been as expected.

I wanted a larger capacity drive to replace a near full HDD in my current NAS. This drive is quiet, and setup/formatting is pretty basic. You can get a larger capacity for about the same price online but I was in a pinch and this is all that was in stock. Good for any user for storage but the drive read/write speed is average. If you can swing it the WD Red Pro is a step up but so is the price.
