Plug & Play. I was able to use immediately without a lot of fuss. Been using it a year. Lug it around the house and hook it up to various computers to do back ups. I use it both as a hard drive to store files and as a back up device. Very easy to use. Works as a letter drive on windows based computer.

I love the ease of transferring my pictures and videos from my MacBook Air to my external hard drive. Click and drop ~ seamless! No monthly fees for cloud storage, plus the 4 TB gives my tons of storage!

not to say the 4tb is bad, but i use it for music production so the amount of space is a factor. i was lead to believe the product could be used in a NAS, WD would not disclose the nature of the drive. as it turned out the drive uses 'shingled' technology, so is not NAS compatible. WD offered to correct the situation for a limited time. i opted to keep what i have as the price to storage is a good value. recommend others with digital data such as family photos, use a NAS or system such as ZFS or BTRFS with checksums and auto error correction as data will eventually get corrupted over time, equivalent to Polaroid photos from the 1970s. i plan to upgrade my system before i lose my data. i will not store my data in the cloud which would address the ZFS/auto error correction issue, even with local encryption as even strong encryption will eventually be broken with quantum computing and i have little confidence i'll be able to delete my data from the cloud entirely. family videos would be available for hackers, etc. i'll eventually have my own data locally on non shingled, non easystore drives.

Needed extra storage and Best Buy had this NEW, and on sale for $85 and it's 4 TB. Works great. Plug and play. A number of utilities on the drive from WD. Kept some, tossed some. Only downside is I should have bought two as my Mac child wants a larger Time Machine, and it works with Mac (after you reformat it) :-)

used it to do a major backup of all my pics scattered about, now all my pics and videos in one place, makes life a lot easier, and the photo memories safer and more accessible , a win win win situation, and cheap at least at the sale i bought it for, if you need a large storage solution here it is

Works like it’s suppose to & was easy to set up. Took less time to back up my Mac than it first said it would.

This product was substantially discounted. It is from WD and will be come my daily back-up drive. I put it in test for 3 weeks to determine its reliability . I have owned other WD products and all have worked well. I am using Acronis as my backup software and to clone my drive. At full price I would consider a broader range of options. This drive is larger than my real requirements.

Got this external drive on pretty good sale. Using it to store movies and TV shows. It's worked great so far.
