My wife's "old" WD My Book was exhibiting signs of impending failure, so I bought this new *cavernous* one to hold all her stuff.. I simply copied all her old drives (or partitions) over from the old one, and now she's got TONS of room, and no more annoying Windows Errors! Thank You WD and BestBuy! :-D

This is a great 4 Tb WD NAS Drive. It can either be used as is, or remove the drive use it separately. Just plug in the USB 3.0 connector to your computer to use it as is. If you stream media from a WD Live and would like more storage space without buying another WD Live, you can plug it into the USB 3.0 port of your current WD Live drive to increase the amount of streamable media storage. Also - you can "schuck" the drive and install the bare drive into a NAS box (for example, a WD, Drobo, Synology or WD Mycloud). There are numerous videos online on how to remove the case ("schuck") from the drive. I definitely recommend this.

Works great! I am not tech savvy and appreciated being able to use this straight out of the box. I didn't need an external drive that has all the bells and whistles but I did need one that's easy to set up and quick to transfer files. Compared to my old western digital external HD, this thing is speedy!

Good, large storage Back-up Drive. Easy to connect to a laptop. Western Digital has been my first selection for many years. Can set up automatic back-ups or simply use as needed.

Being a user of several other WD external HDs, this is by far the easiest model I have installed. The initial setup & activation for scheduling automatic backup and for general copy-to function was straight forward & uncomplicated.

If you can score this on sale it is huge storage on the cheap. I have a couple for backups and have had no issues. Love these external hard drives.

Got this drive on sale for 89.00. Can't beat the price. works as a back up drive and that is not what I wanted(always backing up). I had to reformat the drive which was a slight pain, so I could just drag and drop go pro files. Once that was done I had no problems. Works as stated so if you want automatic back ups use the included programs, otherwise you need to reformat the drive. I am using this on a mac.

I bought this 4 TB hard drive for my x-box 1S. It was $10.00 more than the external x-box hard drive but has double the space! It was plug and play and works fantastic!

I bought this for my PS4 Pro. I have a 1 TB model, and while I've switched hard drives out before with my original PS4, 2 TB wasn't going to be enough for me. Since physical and digital games both take the same amount of storage, I opted to get this external hard drive. It's hardly noticeable and very easy to set up with the PS4. The PS4 Pro also has three USB ports, so that also played a factor. I just wanted more storage and while switching the internal hard drive is easy, it wasn't going to be enough storage for me. If you buy a lot of games, this is a great external hard drive to have.

I was looking for extra storage for entertainment in my man cave. This is a great drive, nice size, and exceptional price. I may just get another for the PS4 Pro.

I did not want the "easy store" features, but it was cheaper with than without. It was easy to delete the files (to recover all the storage) and then it was plug-n-play for use as an external hard drive. It works flawlessly and no noticeable difference in load times.

I take a lot of video and like to be sure I have 2 backups. I have used Seagate drives in the past and have several fail. The Western Digital was a great price and had 4TB for lots of storage. I will be looking for another one soon when this one starts filling up

This big boy is perfect for use with an automatic backup program, like Apple's Time Machine. I just hooked it up and stashed it behind my monitor, and now I can stop worrying about a crash on my main hard drive. Bought it on sale and got a great price too!

Don't know if this is a Red or not...probably not. Still works great with the USB 3.0 interface, it's actually faster than my internal 1TB Sata drive. Seems to run cool as well, I've had no issues with it heating up at all. For $90, it was a great deal.

I was going to purchase a second computer to replace our home desktop but decide to purchase this instead and use it to create a docking station for my laptop. I love that it has its own power source and I am able to save files from pc and open on my mac.

I bought this to extend storage space on my ps4 and it has been great! I've had it for several months and transfer speeds have been great, no lag or other issues! I got it on sale for 89.99!!

Great product, but what is missing from the software is the ability to transfer data or back up from 1 external drive to another external drive. I called tech support and was told this drive is not capable of doing that. Seems like an obvious flaw. I have to rely on copying which takes too long.

A bit to early to give my full review. only 2 weeks of use. So Far, the Pros , This portable external hard drive looks and feels solid. easy to install. lots of space when I shutdown my PC I don't unplug it. It's always plugged in ready to access my files anytime. Cons: A bit heavier verus other portable drives like the passport. but that 's fine , I don't use it as a portable much. One thing I have noticed while trying to access my files it hesitates before it opens the file. appears that's trying to connect to the drive ? my other external drive didn't do that. as soon as u clicked on the file to open took about maybe 1 , 2 seconds to open.this WD Drive takes about 5 ,, 7 seconds to open a file? I formatted the WD drive and copied all my files again. looks like it is working much better time will tell.
