This is what I needed for back up. Only problem is that is running all the time. The last one only ran when the computer was on.

Easy setup, lots of space for the money. Connects right up with no needed drivers.

Several years ago, I had purchased a WD 250 GB MY Book External Hard Drive, and it recently started to make some rather strange noises, so I thought might be time to replace it. I purchased another WD My Book Hard Drive, but this time it was a 3 TB, which is so much more storage than I'll ever need. Best Buy had it in stock and the price was definitely right. I'm SAD my old HD bit the dust, but I'm HAPPY with the new one!

Needed this for additional storage and unit worked great, I was up and running in no time at all!

So far so good and no problems to report. The WD Backup is functional, but I had to figure out how to automate the "wake up" in order to do a late night backup. It would be nice if that was automatic. I like it that it stops spinning when not actively in use - why wear it out? I also wish there was a way to know what the files that it won't back up really are. There's a list of files that the software won't back up, and it makes sense, but still it would be good to know. Just do a search for them, right? That doesn't work, so they probably are protected files. Doesn't make me confident that the operating system is truly backed up. I partition my hard drive and put data on one drive, and OS on the other, and WD does show that both are backed up. Regardless, I will soon do an image of the operating system to make sure that I have a solid recovery capability of at least some point in time. Win 7 Pro on a Dell workstation.

Works great with my laptop and XBOX One. Easy to store movies or music on and watch anywhere.

Problems downloading to My Book external memory. GeekSquad helped formatting the difficult task to get the icon on my computer. They were very helpful several times (4). One that I was sold, was NOT compatible with MacAir

3TB and USB 3.0, very fast and use it to backup my data

When my extra hard drive died, I was surprised because I was not aware of the limited life expectancy. I lost a lot of things but also had much doubly saved on my PC. Now I am in business again with My Book 3T External USB. It is working great. I will watch for signs in the distant future when it might need to be replaced, now that I Know they have a certain life expectancy.

Ive has this back up hard drive for several months. Plug it in, backed up my computer. That’s it! Simple, easy back up with no issues. Would highly recommend.
