I've purchased over 20 of these drives for client backups. Pros: Easy install. Plug and Play. Cons: The preformatted file system is not compatible with some Windows PCs. The BIOS sees it as a active HD and wants to boot to it, and the PC will stay locked in the POST screen until the drive is disconnected. The only fix is to reformat the HD with the NTFS file system. If you already have data stored on it, you'll need to save it before formatting.

The WD My Book is a good external drive, but somewhat slow. They come with the WD Blue drives installed which are very dependable drives. Setup is easy. My recommendation is based on those who want to backup their system then this is a quality solution. Otherwise, for those who are constantly moving photos and video files you might want to find a faster solution.

I use this primarily to backup my MacAir and iPhone on a daily basis. It backs up everything that I need without human intervention.

I use this as part of my redundant backup strategy. The USB 3 allows for fast data backups. It just sits there and does its job.

I brought in my tower to have everything stored on it backed up to an external hard drive. I spoke with an employee and he recommended this particular hard drive. After using at home I was very impressed with the speed in which it transfers info. I think it is an excellent hard drive at a very reasonable price!

I purchased this as a drive for Time Machine backups. It has been running almost continuously since I installed it and has been problem-free. At the time I am writing this, that's less than a year, but it did work through a 5.3 earthquake!

Great for extra storage for Xbox 1. Was a plug and go.

I reviewed many external drives and I am glad I bought this one. The ease of use was amazing. My son is 11 and he plugged it in and set it up on his Xbox one with no problems. Start to finish in under 5 minutes. Connection wise, the speed seems faster to launch a game off of the external than it does the gaming unit itself.

This hard drive has been very reliable so far. I can't talk about the software that comes with it because I am using another backup software. But I can say that the software I'm using worked flawlessly with the hard drive. If you're looking for good reliable storage this will do great for you!

3TBs, inexpensive, easy install & small footprint.

It works great! I bought it for my mom to store her photos and videos. She was able to set it up on her own!

I'm a graphic artist for a local non-profit organization and needed to free up space on my computer. This was the perfect choice! Study, plenty of space, and a long enough USB to prevent it from getting wretched from my laptop when I move about (which is sadly the fate of most of my portable hard drives...).
