Simple setup and works great

Setup is still as simple as plugging it in and the USB 3 is compatible with USB 2 ports. I've never had issues with WD drives in the past and I really don't expect any issues with this drive either.

I haven't had any problems, and data goes from my desktop computer to this VERY fast with USB 3.0 attached. I would have bought an even bigger external hard drive (EHD), 6 to 8 TBs, but the price per tb goes up more on those, so not always worth it for those larger sizes (at the moment!).

This, along with the Passport I bought for my wife's laptop do not 'continuously update' as promised! The 'fix' from WD is to uninstall their software and reinstall it. But you would have to do this each time you want to update all your files!!! This is totally UNSAT.

I have 2 hard drives so I had to figure out how to back both up. My only question is if it is in continuous mode, is it backing up both drives? I got it so I can build a new PC and then transfer information to the new hard drive. I will know more once I need to get to the information.

Great external 3.0 Backup drive

Hardware encryption is a plus. I also like having the option to backup my entire hard drive including system files with the Acronis True Image software.

Possible issue with downloaded games

Large storage from a trusted brand

I got this hard drive at a great price and also because it is a WD. I have had several other WD drives that have worked week for me. So far it has been workng fine.
