Purchased this to backup our photo library. The disk is a bit slow to load but it is reliable and I had no problems within the past few months of usage.

Ran out of room on my 1tb drive and decided to to go bit. I run a youtube channel and keep all of my raw video footage. Boot up was slow the first time but was faster subsequent times. No issues thus far and holds a load of files.

The drive fits my needs perfectly. Its shut down when not in use which is something I really like. I would recommend this drive.

I bought this mainly to put my "stuff" in it. Mainly backing up my "stuff". It is okay just makes some awkward noises here and there.

I love the western digital range of the external drives have a lot of them and was lucky till now that no one fails

I use this for automated backups with another software package and it has been working flawlessly.

The product delivers what the specs state. That is good. But I work in media, and I think I may start looking at dedicated drives for media work.

A lot of space and work perfectly in my Xbox one and I can download a lot of games

It was simple to use. Just have to drag what you needed from your laptop to the hard drive. Only downfall is that it took a while to upload.

I love WD but I wish I didn't have to reformat it for macs.

drive Ok..but still a little slow at times especially for small files.

Works right out of the box. Up and running in no time.

Although I'd had good luck with WD external HD's in the past....for whatever reason the one I bought was defective. Best Buy exchanged it with no problem for a similar unit.

Tried all the options need to make sure compatibility before purchase if you need to access via network and ReadyShare

Making a grinding sound. Worried it may fail. I'm taking it in to get checked.

Good Hard Drive that is quick and easy to use. Also has plenty of room for 20 minute or more shows to help clear room on computer.

The first of these 8TB externals came with HGST He8 7200rpm Enterprise class helium drives installed that cost over $500 separately. Knowing what numbers to look for, I picked up 2 of them. Over 200MB/s transfer rate on each of them. Later ones have come with WD 8TB Red 5400rpm helium Nas drives in them. A little slower. Eventually they will be standard consumer helium drives. WD has not let me down. Also, don't listen to people complaining about the firmware. The firmware is fine. It's more than likely their computer, not the drive.

runs cool .....super fast transfer and 8tb of space in a small package ..great job wd
