Even though I have only had this item for about a month, I am very pleased with the great speed for retrieving stored items. I also have a fairly large amount of data, and the 3TB capacity will last me well into the future.

This was purchased to backup photos and videos from my desktop. Tons of space and very easy to use

The storage capacity is excellent and I got a great price. I bought it because I wanted password protection for my external drive. I encountered some difficulties in the set up process. I could not figure out why the disc icon did not appear on the desktop. You have to unlock the drive and it is a two step process with two different passwords. I am still trying to figure out its patterns, but it seems that every time you restart your computer you have to unlock the drive. I never did figure out how to make it compatible with Time Machine for my Mac. It does not make back ups automatically because of some problem. So I have to drag and back up manually. There was also great confusion at the beginning when I tried to set up Time Machine and it reconfigured my desk top so that I "lost" my screen view. Where it went, I do not know. If the back up is not visible on the desk top it does not make back ups from Time Machine. Overall, this back up drive is much more complicated than it needs to be. I ended up taking it to work and staying with my original back up at home because it was just too hard to figure out.

The WD My Book for Mac 3TB external USB 3.0 Hard Drive installs easily and works right out of the box. It is reliable and a good buy.

I use this for extra storage for my Mac. It works great and gives me the extra storage I need. Quick and easy set up.

This was a great storage for all my pics and videos. Downloaded and transferred fast. Only problem is I can not get it to work via my home wifi. Not sure if it is my router or the WD. Apparently from others online others have had this problem. Im using it with my Macbook pro.

Decided to use time machine to back up rather than their program. Drive keep shutting down for no apparent reason. Took numerous attempts to finally get a backup. Could not figure out if iOS was shutting down the backup or some other problem. Experienced the problem previously and was advised to return drive as defective. 2nd drive has same problem but eventually backed up. Decided to use Dropbox and hopefully won't need to recover anything from the drive

This my book was advertised as the size of a book. When I took it out of the box it is indeed like one,,,a big one like a bible or a Harry Potter novel. What it lacks in the compact department it makes up for In function though because I have slammed 500 gig on it very quickly, without even a hiccup from my iMac. Glad I made the purchase!

WD - My Book for Mac 3TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive was another great buy from Best Buy. This is really a super hard drive and very easy to use and I just like to know that I have my back covered. If anything happens to my lap top and I need to purchase another I just have to plug in my hard drive and I am back.

I am a bit technologically challenged. I wanted to back up my MacBook and iPad so I purchased the WD - My Book for Mac 3TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive. Could not believe how easy it is to use - just plug in the power, plug into computer, let it run and done! So simple even I could do it with no issues! Love it.

I think this is a good amount of storage for the price. I've had mixed luck with external hard drives, hoping this one works out. Bought it to run time machine on a new MacBook Pro. Setup was pretty straight forward.

I use this to back up my computer regularly. The setup was easy and I had no problems. When backing up computers the Cloud isn't enough, you need your data in several separate places. 3 TB is a huge amount of space for Video's, Photos, and important documents and at theses prices you can afford more than one.

So far, so good! I have a Mac computer, so wanted to go with an external hard drive that was made for a Mac. I'm not using the Apple Time Machine back up feature at this time, as I've read it can cause the hard drive to not last as long. I searched other sites, and found Best Buy had the best price, and have had good luck getting my orders quickly with no problems.
