only had this hard drive a month or so, works great with time machine on mac. easy set-up.

I have not used it yet but it is really good looking in the box and it is comforting to know that I'm going to be able to have all the memory I'll need when I learn how to get movies and music. I expect it will be easy to get set up as it was designed for a Mac.

Very simple set-up and does what I need -- photo/video repository to free up hard drive space.

I have been using WD hard drives and this My Book was as simple as all the others - plug it into the iMac and it mounts and shows up on the desktop, easy as that. I set it up to be a time machine drive and so far no problems.

Works better than the Seagate external HD, better long-tern stability (famous last words)

I bought this to replace my old hd that was dying on me. Have not had any issues with this. I should probably consider getting another one soon since its been a while

I've not had it that long, however I have not had any problems with the device. Setup was as easy as plugging it up and it went right to work. I'm using it with my Mac Mini as a Time Machine back up.

Using it to back up 3 computers in home network. Works well and have had no problems.

This thing is almost if not the size of a computer tablet or iPad mini (not sure) but as far as portability is concern, the size might be eh...but it sits perfectly below my macbook pro stand. didn't receive a backup disc for software but can download it online. Serves its purpose of having that 3TB backup...easy set up...at first u have to figure out the how to's then you'll kinda get how it works on the mac. Though I'm using it on both my mac and macbook pro...sometimes it doesn't automatically get recognized by the system...not sure why that is, probably just me...but it's just a minor setback, you can just reconnect and it'll fix the problem. And because of that I just give it four stars. note: this is my first 3Tb hard drive.

If you are looking for speed, this is not it. However it is a solid NAS for a very reasonable price. It has a relatively slow processor in it, so transfer speeds will take a hit. It also takes a fair amount of time to list contents of large directories (again, the processor). From idle mode to spun up takes approximately 7 seconds which I find reasonable. I use it primarily for storing movies that I stream to my digital media player and have no issues with it (note that I am using network shares and not DLNA - which is why I bought this NAS in the first place instead of other inexpensive solutions). I am just starting to try to use it as a time machine backup, but have been having issues with speed (but I have read many forum posts about issues with time machine being slow with this and suggesting work arounds that I will try at some point). So, for my use case, this NAS works great.

Have a late 2011 MacBook Pro. Internal hard drive is on it's last life. Bought this external primarily because it has the Time Machine capabilities. Quick setup and works well.

Great product to use as a backup and basically save your files. It is easy to install since the folder contains everything. I tried to use it wirelessly with my router but did not succeed. I would sure recommend to anyone willing to save and backup files.

Quality not just a name. The product is being used for production backup.

Wonderful product. I have already had two different external drives which I use for my business. The drive stores the required information I need and allows for quick and easy access.

This is my 4th WD external hard drive. Nuff said. I have no problems.

This is a very fast USB3 device. It's built for Mac...The platform I'm using. It works flawlessly.
