If you want to login to WD and store your Cloud on their cloud then give it a try. I was looking for a stand-alone cloud system that keeps my stuff private on my own private system.

Getting this item up and running couldn't have been easier. I called GEEK SQUAD just to be on the safe side and they complimented me on how well I did.

I like being able to access my music and pictures from anywhere with out using up all the data storage on my phone. This thing is really cool!!

We love this external hard drive. We put all of our movies in this and can now access the movies on any Bluetooth TV or device to watch our movies instead of having to change dvds all the time. It was easy to set up and load from other external hard drives we had them loaded on and easy to access from any Bluetooth device to watch them.

It seems that the need to save, store, and refresh information is never ending. I got this drive to save data to my safety deposit box. Some of the older boxes are very narrow, and not wide enough for an external drive, even the smaller ones. This drive fits in, no problem. It's a great way to store inventory photos and financial data.

At the time of writing 12/13/14 You're not able to install a plex media server on this drive you will first have to mount or map the drive on the network. You will have to install plex media server on a computer and the computer will have to be on 24/7.

The backup is automatic and I really do like the hard drive. I have everything on there and it is easy to take along when we winter in Florida.

It is not user friendly. You need to figure out how to work it. Does not include programs to run it. You need to go find them on line. Have not been able to program it to do what i intended it for.

This hard drive is great. It is simple to setup and I now have access to all my movies, photos, and document no matter where I am at.

Expensive, but a lot cheaper than paying for a third part cloud service.

I don't like that you can't use a usb to conect to the computer and MUST connect over wifi.

My home network connection is fully wired and gigabit speed. Whenever I try to connect to the MyCloud, there is a lag. Also, there are issues with what password I use for private folders. Once I setup a password, I can never re-access my private folders on Windows File Explorer as I get a password error. Since I am only using the MyCloud for media and pictures, this is not an issue for me as I am placing everything in the Public Folders. I would not recommend this product unless you are computer savvy.

However, I already had a 4 TB drive and getting the computer to tell the difference between them was too difficult.

The reviews I had seen stated this was a great hard drive with decent speed. I have not experienced that speed. This hard drive has been extremely slow to place data into. I have a modern wifi router and it still takes an extremely long time to add pictures to the hard drive. I have an iMac and it took 3 days for time machine to conduct the initial backup of 350 GB. The pro of being able to access the hard drive from anywhere is not very helpful if it takes all day to move data. It would take less time to move a standard hard drive from one computer to another and download your data. You cannot use this hard drive with a USB cable for quicker speeds. I would not recommend this hard drive.

I didn't want to put my stuff on a google or whatever cloud. This is the next best thing.

Easy set up, access, and use. Great for music storage and acts as server for personal retrieve via Sonos

Had the previous version and this one works much faster as far as transfer rates go.
