My cloud ex2
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice device, i was delighted with it setup with dual writing, so both disks had the same data. However, frequent hacking attempts caused me to shut it down, sadly.

Very Nice NAS!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I added two WD 16Tb Drives to this NAS device and configured it with the RAID 1 profile. It works well for backup from other WD storage devices. I'm very pleased with it. Although it took a while to assemble, I saved a few dollars putting it together by myself and learned a bit about configuring such devices.

Great Mid Level NAS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great speeds, consistently 100+MB/s. Easy to setup shares. I don't use the cloud features. The apps are pretty sparse. Drives sleep and wake as needed.

Easy to set-up home cloud storage
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my file backup for both PC and phones. It works well and is easy to setup. The only issue I noticed is the fan noise. It is not that loud but definitely the loudest thing in my office room.

Can't beat Western Digital
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an older Linksys NAS that gave up the ghost. Needed something to store my media collection, had plenty of hard drives kicking around, did the research, and went with the WD My Cloud. I really like the setup instructions that came with it. Very clear, very little chance for confusion. It all went together easily. Configuring the device on my home network was a piece of cake.

Probably the easiest NAS to set up
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My third one. Easy to use, which isn't always the case with NAS units. It would be great if the app could be updated to better interoperate with Windows 10, but it's usable as is.

Returned WD NAS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Title: Returned WD NAS Due to Preference for Custom Build and Setup Issues Initial Inquiry & Decision: I initially purchased this WD NAS for easy, plug-and-play personal cloud storage with flexible RAID options and good performance. The device features a gigabit Ethernet interface and strong security like 256-bit AES encryption, making it suitable for safe and efficient network storage. Unboxing, Build Quality, & Testing: The NAS boasts a dual-core Marvell ARMADA 385 processor at 1.3GHz and 1GB DDR3 memory, offering solid streaming and file transfer speeds. Its tray-less bay design made drive installation tool-free and straightforward. Compatible with both Mac and PC, it supports WD SmartWare Pro and Apple Time Machine backups for flexible data protection. Multiple RAID configurations like RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD give room for tailored storage setups. However, the device came with 0TB storage, requiring users to provide their own drives to customize the NAS. Unfortunately, I experienced connectivity issues that caused frequent disruptions and made networking unreliable. Additionally, setting up the NAS was more complicated than expected, involving a lot of troubleshooting and configuration challenges that further contributed to frustration. Overall Impressions and Recommendation: While the NAS offers good features and easy drive installation, the combination of connectivity problems and setup difficulties led me to return it in favor of building my own NAS from scratch. This device may suit users looking for convenient network storage but might not satisfy those seeking hassle-free installation and seamless operation.

Works as it should...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product. But this is the 3rd one ive had to buy because every 3 to 4 years they stop supporting it ans the network will no longer recognize it... thankfully you just need to swap the drives into the latest model and its back up and running...

Great NAS device. Somewhat easy setup too!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed more storage capacity. Bought the EX2 Ultra to replace my EX2. I researched on increasing capacity. And, given my RAID configuration (mirror), the easiest way to transfer data was to get a new NAS. Had i installed one larger drive, the device would only format it to access the smaller of the two drives. Thus, losing the added capacity. Would have given 5 stars had WD figured a way to allow for easy converstion to larger drives. They may lose me as a customer if they never push an update that addresses that.

Nice DIY NAS device
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is very nice. Sturdy. Putting my own drives in it that I ordered was an easy process. I originally meant to order a MyBook Duo and not a NAS; my worry was that I HAD to have it hooked up to the cloud and not just my local network. Thankfully, there is a setting in it that disables a cloud connection to your device.
