Intentionally waited a month to give this review since it was shipped, and it's a hard drive. Had to order it online since they didn't have it in-stock at stores that time. Was worried how they will ship it. I normally don't buy Hard Drives to be shipped (my rule of thumb). It was shipped in a plastic bag without paddings, bubble wraps or foam (see attached pic). They used UPS, but UPS hands it to US Postal Services after they messed up sorting, and 2-day free shipping became 3 days instead. That's it! I had to go to the postal office and get it myself before the worst thing happens. Pic attached was taken at the post-office. Packaging had a dent due to drop during transit I suppose. Luckily, Western Digital packaged it well, even for a small sensitive item, kudos to WD. That's why I ONLY buy their products, for their reliability and now, their packaging. All is well with the drive despite using just a plastic bag. HDD still working. Windows took away 370GB which leaves me 3.63TB left before even using it (see attached pic). I'll be needing another one soon as I only have 2.4TB left. About the drive: Best deal of all portable external hard drive as per GB to price ratio despite it's retail and not discounted price. If you need a large storage, this is the one. I switched to Portable drives from the typical size external drives a long time ago. They are small in physical size and don't have any Power Adapter. The regular external maybe cheaper but they're bulky and a lot heavier. My External HDD: REGULAR SIZE: Elements 500GB (uses WD inside), WD 1TB MyBook, WD 1.5TB MyBook. PORTABLE: WD250GB, WD320GB, WD320GB, WD750GB, WD750GB, WD1TB, WD2TB, WD3TB and now, WD4TB. Hopefully this maybe helpful to others.

I purchased this Western Digital drive because I needed more storage. I own a few other western digitalis drives and they always work perfectly. In the past I purchased other brands but they were not as good when it comes to simple things like unplugging. Most of times other brands stated to wait while the drive is still operating. This annoyed me to no end but western digital saved the day. If you are looking to buy a drive, just buy a WD and worry no more!

I am a bit of a fanatic about backing files up. Over the years I've had many Western Digital external USB powered hard drives (they still work, but as the sizes increased I bought the new ones). They have all been great. I saw the new 4 TB size and picked one up. It has worked well, and has tons of room.

I needed something to hold copies of my photos, etc. This external drive 4tb drive is exactly what I needed. Small enough to take with me when I travel and enough storage to hold all my photos, so far. It is easy to use however I have not set it up to back up for me; I do this manually.

After having a second Seagate external HD fail I started buying Western Digital Passport drives for space considerations as well as size of the drive. Plug and play and off you go! Excellent portable backup drives !

I bout this drive to use as a image and video backup while I travel the world working on documentaries. It's small and gets the job done.

These Ultra series hard drives are extremely reliable and offer the security password which is a great feature.

WD makes an excellent external storage drive. I have had several over the years. I bought this one to replace a Seagate external drive that my computer stopped recognizing. My WD drives work great and I have gotten years of use out of them. So far this drive is performing as expected with no hiccups. This is a great storage drive that is reasonably priced and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an external storage/backup drive.

Hard drive works well with PC and Xbox one I use it for storage and to play media files via Xbox

This portable western digital hard drive is the best around. Always reliable and looks great. I personally do not setup the smart ware auto backup due to the fact that I do not like it but you may. Mine is black and looks sleek. You will not be dissatisfied.

I like this drive almost purely for the amount of data it can hold. Working in video production I've always got drives filling up with video files. The size of this drive, it's portability, combined with the amount of storage and USB 3 speed makes it a worthwhile choice for someone on the go or in need of a small footprint.

This little device is amazing. Works effortlessly, just plug it in. 4TB wherever you go. I love it. No need to pay big bucks for large memory on your computer, just buy this little thing and increase the memory of every computer you own!!

Western digital has done it again with a compact large harddrive that is portable and easy to use. I still play PC games so it great to be able to have all my games and not run out of space and room for edit family photos and video.

This is a great deal for a 4 TB hard drive. I have now owned 3 different My Passport hard drives, and all have worked perfectly. The unit is very small and easy to transport in a briefcase with my laptop. The price is great too.

I have a large mp3 collection and I take photos as a hobby so I need large reliable storage and this drive fits the bill perfectly!

Western Digital is always offering great products. This one is very quiet, and a lot of storage. Highly recommend this WD.

Just what I needed to replace my Western Digital 1.5tb, needed more space. Works great. Got a ton more space.

It is about time they started selling larger capacity hard drives. Hopefully this one will last a while!
