Q: Cant this drive be used with XBOX One as external stroage

A: Although I haven't used one of 4TB as an external backup for the Xbox One, I have used a 2TB of the same brand and it works flawlessly.

Q: Can we use this for Smart TV's(Samsung) which is having a capability of recording screen? I want use this as a fixed slot to my smart TV.

A: undefined

Q: Is the encryption hardware-based or software-based? Must it be used or can it be disabled?. The 3TB drive lists encryption as optional. This one doesn't say one way or another. I don't want it, so if it can't be disabled then I'll just go with the 3TB.

A: It's software-based that comes pre-installed. Just don't run the Western Digital program if you don't want it, you'll be fine. I even put all of the pre-installed softwares in a newly created folder to get it out of the way when booting. Computer just sees the drive as an extension drive. I don't bother with the encryption as well. I hope that helps you.

Q: Will this work with SUB 2.0?

A: Yes. It's backward compatible. Even though this is rated USB 3.0 for faster speed/faster transfer, it will still work with USB 2.0 for a slower speed. I use it with a 6 year old gaming laptop with no USB 3.0. It works just fine, just slower than it should have been.

Q: Would this work to transfer all the files from a dying computer? Could I transfer from two dying computers? I don't need programs, just files (.doc and jpeg) ThanKs!!

A: As long as you don't require more space than the WD External HD has, it'll be fine. I backed up two PC's that had a TB each

Q: what is the file transfer speed of this hard drive????

A: 5 Gbps theoretical maximum transfer rate = 600 MB/s. I use these drives a lot, the best I have seen in practice is 100-200 MB/s.
