Pretty entertaining (though somewhat exotic) domestic comedy, based on fact, which details the adventures of a family, grieving after the loss of the mother, who purchase a somewhat broken down zoo. They grow as a family trying to put it (and their sorrowful selves) back to former glory, Certainly adventurous, it features strong characters doing improbable things, Matt Damon is believably bewildered throughout and Scarlet Johansson is also winning in another unusual role. An added documentary covers the actual case, and the man who really did all of this appears in the film as an extra at the triumphant re-opening of the zoo.

This film is loosely based on memoir of the same name by Benjamin Mee. It stars Matt Damon as widowed father Benjamin Mee, who purchases a dilapidated zoo with his family and takes on the challenge of preparing the zoo for its reopening to the public.

A terrific family movie. Very heart-warming and has a good message to it for the kids and adults. Definitely a keeper for the DVD library.

Enjoyed watching this on our big outdoor movie screen. Highly recommend anyone adding this to their family movie lineup.

Gave to my granddaughter for Easter has not gotten back to me but I have watched it on tv and really liked it great for kids

I really don’t care for animal movies but I guess the movie was alright if you like Animals so I would let your kids enjoy it
