Increase in signal, but not in performance

I was very eager to try this product as I have horrible problems with my cell phone service when I leave the safety of the wireless cocoon that is my home. I am stuck as a Sprint customer (worst mistake of my life) and my phone won't even stream audio though I live in a very well populated area. Cell signal and service should not be a problem. Set up is a breeze. First you attach the antenna to the roof of your car. There is a magnet in the base that attaches with ease. Fortunately, the cable to the antenna is thin so you don't have to worry about crimping it in the door jamb of the car. The indoor antenna attaches to the seat, and I just sat the heavy base on the floor of the backseat. Once all set, I could not wait to see if it works. This product does work. It just didn't work for me as well as I expected it to. I definitely had an increase in signal I went from steady 2 bars to 4 bars. That being said, an increase in signal did not translate to very much of an increase in performance. I blame this squarely on the shoulders of Sprint. Their cell phone service is abysmal. It is so bad, that the greatest day in my life will be the day that I pay off my phone lease and kick Sprint to the curb. All in all, this product does work as advertised. I gave it 4 stars for ease of installation and the fact that it definitely boosted my signal. Unfortunately it is not so fantastic of a product that it can fix the inadequacies of the worst cell phone provider in the entirety of the universe, Sprint Wireless.

The Weboost Drive Reach Mobile Cellular Booster is a good device for the individual who requires cellular service in remote or fringe locations. I tried the device initially on a 30-minute drive during which I usually have 10-15 minutes of zero coverage. Before departing, I called my wife to see for just how much of the drive we could maintain a connection. Amazingly, we were able to carry on a conversation for the entire drive, with only one or two spots of static. I then drove around my local area for a couple of days with the device before sitting down to write this review, and during that time, I observed my cell phone's signal meter, unplugged the device, and then checked the meter again. I noticed that I would have one to two bars more with the device operating than without. Installation is a breeze. Just mount the box, plug in and mount the inside antenna somewhere near the phone, plug in and mount the magnetic outside antenna at least 12 inches from any window or sunroof, and plug the power cord into the unit and a cigarette lighter. If you need to use a cell phone in areas with spotty coverage, this unit will help. Because it is a signal booster, there still must be some signal to boost. If there is no signal in an area, this device can't create one, but it can make a very weak signal useable. If you decide to buy it, I hope it works as well for you as it is working for me.

This is the first signal booster I have tried that actually works! It is also simple to use. Annoyingly, I live in a small dead zone among apartment buildings. My phone is practically useless from the moment it loses its WiFi connection until I drive about a mile away from my neighborhood. Voice reception is intermittent and apps say the network is either too slow or simply "no service." I tried out the booster and was blown away. In the deadzone, WITHOUT the booster, my download speed was 0.22 mbps when it received a signal. Upload was 0.31 mbps. With the booster, my download increased to 4.3 mbps and upload increased to 12.3 mbps. Speeds where the signal is stronger will be significantly faster. Keep in mind that this test was in the dead zone where it is often impossible to set a destination in a GPS app let alone stream music. It might sound insignificant but it has become a huge frustration when I have to start driving in the sometimes incorrect direction before I learn the road is blocked. Beyond living in a dead zone, I do a lot of driving in rural areas where the signal is weak. This is also going to be a great asset after a hurricane when the closest cell towers may be down. I am really impressed.

Was a bit skeptical about this as I have tried other products that were similar in the past but this proved me wrong! In areas that I had little to almost no signal this actually gave me full signal! I was a bit overwhelmed when I first opened the box as it seemed like such a huge production to install it and get it working. However I was wrong..... I put it in and had it up and working within about ten minutes! This included time for me to move the antenna around a bit to because I overlooked what the instructions said about placement! I like the on off switch on the power plug it does add some convenience to it because you just turn it off and on as needed! Otherwise you can just unplug it if you will be out of your vehicle for an extended time period. The external antenna is even magnetic so you do not have to use the enclosed adhesive unless that is what you prefer. Wish I had this product years ago as it would have saved me a lot of frustration!

I do a lot of work in far Southeast New Mexico and West Texas. There is a good bit of tower coverage in the oil patch, but there are numerous times each day where I have weak connection points and dropped calls. Enter the Weboost Driver, and I have noticed an appreciable increase in signal strength at sites and while driving. There are still some dead spots, but where there was once a weak signal, I'm gaining one to two bars, which in most cases is just enough for the call or data to remain connected. It has made a real difference and I very much appreciate the product! It's easy to install. It plugs right into a 12V power port, and then you place the internal antenna and booster, and run the outdoor antenna to your vehicle's roof. Excellent product that I am very comfortable recommending.

Great solution for solid cell coverage in the car

I travel about 2-300 miles a week. I have mixed coverage but with this booster I now have solid coverage everywhere I go. With Verizon it is not a matter of no signal but allows me to have a better more consistent signal for streaming music and using my phone as a hotspot. Definetly worth it for those that drive in areas that you have low to no signal. This is not a cellular tower so you have to have signal but it is significantly stronger with this. Cons: I wish it were easier to install. I need to hide the wires which will require and installer and I will always have the black stub antenna on my car. Small price to pay. Also the price is high for what it does.

I live on the outskirts of the Twin Cities and sometimes my reception isn't great outside of the metro area. I was really hoping that this would make a huge difference. Unfortunately, this did not make a difference. I was able to perform a good test because my signal strength isn't great where I live. The setup is easy enough. There is an external antenna that magnetically sticks to the top of the car and then an internal antenna that can be placed inside of the car. The unit charged by a lighter connector and it is fairly large and bulky. There is a light that indicates whether or not the signal is present. This unit will also drain the batter in your car, so be sure to use with an adapter that is only on when the car is on. I had a dead batter in my vehicle after just two days. I should note that I use T-Mobile and the experience could be quite different with other carriers.

Weboost Drive Reach Mobile Cellular Booster Model 470154 is amazing. I take several road trips to see my daughter and let's just say I go through some very rural farmland. I was basically off the grid for most of the trip which was very annoying. But the booster significantly changed that problem. I was able to make and receive calls with no problem. I went from not even being able to roam to having 4 signal bars. The installation was very simple as well. This is a must for anyone one road through the countryside.

Weboost claims their product will boost signals up to 50dB. It supports multiple users across multiple carriers. A review of the installation sheet indicates that the Weboost supports the following: Bands 12, 13, and 17 in 700MHz; Band 5 in 800MHz; Band 4 in 1700MHz; and Bands 2 & 25 in 1900MHz. For those unfamiliar with the banding scheme it roughly equates to the following: AT&T typically uses Bands: 4, 5, 12, 30 and Band 2 for PCS Verizon typically uses Bands: 1, 2, 4, 13 T-Mobile typically uses Bands: 2, 4, 12 Sprint typically uses Bands: 25, 26, 41 GoogleFi typically uses Bands: 2, 4, 12, 25, 26, 41 The bands listed above are applicable to 4G LTE and this is by no means an exhaustive list as there are many more bands in use today. There are also many more carriers, and they too use some or all of these bands listed above. As a whole, Weboost seems to support a majority of the commonly used bands from the major carriers. The device is quite simple to install. The steps are clearly marked on the antenna packages, on the device, and in the instructions. First, install the outside antenna (it is about 3" tall and is magnetic). But, includes an adhesive pad for those with aluminum vehicles. Next, install the inside antenna that the cellular devices will connect to. Find a desired mounting location for the amplifier unit, it measures approximately 4.5” wide, 6” tall, and 2” high and install the amplifier. Hook your antennas to Weboost and run the included power cable to a 12V outlet. The included power cable even includes a USB port to charge your devices. Nice touch. Once power is connected and the unit turned on, the device boots up. If everything was hooked up correctly and you installed your outside antenna in a good spot, the LED indicator light will turn solid green indicating that it is receiving cellular signals. That's it. You don't have to do anything to your phone. It requires no special pairing or software to make the Weboost function. How did the Weboost actually perform? The following were results I achieved during tests from various known low cell signal locations. Tests will always vary slightly based on many factors, from location, congestion on the network, interference from surrounding businesses, foliage, etc. The results below were from a very popular network speed testing app. The devices included a mix of Android and iOS devices and this network speed testing app was installed on each device. I won’t list each and every test I conducted, but here are common results: Before: T-Mobile: Down: 41.7 Up: 1.01 Verizon: Down: 3.62 Up: 0.04 AT&T: Down: 27.3 Up: 7.75 After installing the Weboost: T-Mobile: Down: 33.9 Up: 34.9 Verizon: Down 18.4 Up: 9.43 AT&T: Down: 12.8 Up: 17.5 I would say the WeBoost works well. Even though some of the download speed were slowed slightly, the increase in upload speeds made all the devices seem smoother and speedier with the Weboost. Calls that used to be inconsistent and drop in these locations went through without dropping and without fading. The Weboost was even able to take phones that indicated a 1x connection, to 4G LTE. The Weboost seems well built, and as mentioned before, was very easy to install. The only thing worth noting is that you have to remember that you installed this product and it has an outside antenna. The outside antenna is no match for the brushes and scrubbers at the carwash. Nice product!

This device is basically essential for any rural area. I bought one for my car and one for my home four years ago, and I couldn’t do without them now. Recently purchased the overland antenna to add to my existing vehicle unit, and it works even better now. This is one of the best investments in tech I’ve ever made.

This items is great. My cell phone provider's service has been getting increasingly worse over the past year. However with the help of the booster I'm able to keep a conversation, and use the data without any issues. This item was super easy to install, took me less than an hour. Set up was easy, just follow the instructions.

This seems to (From all appearances) take the best signal from all five(?) major mobile data/voice providers, and repeats it so it is accessible by other providers' phones.. Thanks to transition to Voice over IP (laziness?) you can router (automatic) your calls over any network, without worrying about "who has the best coverage" because quite simply - if you have the lowest cost plan, with unlimited data/minutes, at this point with this, it does not matter. enjoy . I live in a rural area, and travel about 70 miles to work. I have many about 20 or 25 miles of my drive that I dont get enough cell service to make a call. Now I am able to stream music for most of the drive, and make calls in all areas except about .75 miles of a stretch in the woods. Works very well for me.

This product works. I'm just not sure if its needed unless you live in, or frequently drive in, an area where coverage is poor on your carrier. The reason I say this, is that most GSM carriers (I dont have CDMA carriers to test with) are already pretty ubiquitous where I live. I live in sub-suburban Ohio where coverage used to be spotty, but has improved dramatically between Dayton and Cincinnati on both T-Mobile and AT&T. I did install the device in my vehicle, which involved connecting to a power source AND to a place where the device would reside, as well as fishing wires to the place where the amplifier would be hidden (in my case, under the second row seat) and then fishing wires to an exterior antenna. All in all this got to "car stereo installation territory" real quick. If you have the need for this, and you like your car interior to keep a finished appearance, you might want to let the install pros take this one on. Particularly if you dont want to take up a power outlet in your ride. (they have ways of "Hard-wiring' this stuff, but additional parts/accessories may need to be purchased in professional install scenarios - Depends on your installer and their policies). Once I had everything hooked up, I frequently noticed better coverage in signal bars, but as I said previously, coverage is ususally so good I didn't notice a considerable difference in actual phone performance. Since this is a vehicular solution, I was only on calls and streaming maps and music over Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as an example. I wasn't using Internet-based apps or playing games since I was the driver in most of the testing. At the end of the day, my rural drives were interruption free, but I'm not sure that's not the case anymore anyway. The cellular providers are getting good at coverage - These products might be overkill. If you know you have a need, this one works, but if you're not sure if it will help you, it might be a pricey, involved installation for some good ol' placebo effect. Your mileage, and coverage, may vary.

If you do not have a signal to begin with, this will not help you. You need to have some sort of consistent baseline to start with for this to connect to and do it's thing. It can't "create" a signal for you, but it *can* boost a pre-existing one. Just like it's namesake; "weboost." With that out of the way, it works extremely well. In the car on drives through extremely rural areas I have noticed nothing below 3 out of 5 bars when prior to installation of this I'd have 1 out of 5 in those same areas. That and a significant reduction in "searching for network" on those same drives. Did it eliminate all of them? No, but it did it's best and once I looked at the product realistically (ie didn't expect it to create a wireless signal out of thin air...bah-dum-tssss) I realized it did precisely what it advertised to do, and well at that. Definitely recommend if you know you have a signal at all times, but a weak one. Still would recommend even if you are someone with little to no signal and just looking to improve reception however possible.

I was skeptical that this device would substantially increase the wireless signal. I have an AT&T and TMobile phone. I live in a rural area where signal can come and go depending on location. I tried this product in several areas where signal is weak and I was able to make calls and use data. Data speeds were good as well. I would recommend this device.
