I watched this movie as a double feature back in the mid 70’s and always wanted to see it again, it did not disappoint. Only gave 4 stars because the dvd case was not in great shape.

When Worlds Collide is one of those SF oldies I had to have in my DVD collection. It has very good bright color images, and the movie is interesting. I hope we never have an event like this but it does raise the topic. Good quality DVD (not BluRay), one I will watch again, and again and again. Apocalyptic end of the world near collision of worlds, with the chosen few getting a rocket sled ride to the new planet. If the loss of life on the Titanic was tragic, imagine a whole world.

When scientists discover a distant planet is on a collision course with Earth, the government refuses to believe the evidence, leaving it up to private citizens to finance and build a spaceship to carry a limited number of people and animals to another planet to begin a new civilization. Massive tidal waves, earthquakes, the impending destruction of our world and deciding who gets to live or die brings out the best and the worst in people. Produced by George Pal (War Of The Worlds) and an Academy Award for Best Special Effects makes this film one of science-fiction's pioneering classics.

This was a great example of an early sci-fi flick. Everything was done quite well. The difference between special fx then as opposed to today really isn't that much of a difference. If movies today had the same quality of this much older film, things would be a lot better for the viewer. A LOT!

Oldie but goodie. Interesting plot, and who knows, it might be real someday.
