We were seeking a well designed, reliable refrigerator that was cabinet depth so as to not stick out a lot from the kitchen cabinets. This model met our criteria and has so far proven reliable. It makes some usual noises at times when the ice maker drops cubes into its container, and there is some occasional water noises that are only a few seconds long. The compressor sound level is acceptable even in our combined kitchen/great room. The only negative we have in the design, which is a negative on multiple refrigerators these days, is the lack of flexibility in interior shelf positions. Shelf positions are molded into the interior sides--so if you have an item an inch too tall, you're out of luck. Everything else works well for us.

Functions well. Excellent ice maker; however limited freezer space due to ice bin. The refrigerator space on the top shelf is limited due to air filter and water filter.

Overall, we are pleased with the performance of the refrigerator. It has plenty of room for what we need and the counter-depth works well with our space.
The downer is the fan makes more noise than a normal refrigerator does. We had a Whirlpool authorized serviceman come out and he said it’s normal for the new models.
We may have it picked up and get a different make/model.

The size, looks and function have been perfect for my needs. The other reviews saying that it’s noisy are partially right but it’s because the ice maker is on the door, not in the body of the freezer. That’s going to happen with any on door I’ve maker fridge. I don’t mind it because it gives me move shelf space. Also, the ice cubes are smaller - about half the size of traditional sized ice cubes - which I like as well. It’s been a great appliance. So far so good!

Perfect size for our space being counter depth. Inside space is adequate for us. It could use another freezer shelf but I’ve spaced them out and it works fine for us. As in reviews I read prior to purchase, it is a little louder than what I’m used to but not really noticeable unless it’s silent in the house. Don’t notice when tv on. Really like front finish-beware at delivery they carefully pull plastic up and out from top of doors. Little pieces of plastic were left that I cannot get off even with tweezers.

We've had for just a few week, so it's a little too soon to say. But, so far so good. We like it. Quickly cools and freezes items. We really like the ice maker in the freezer door. I frees up more space in the freezer. It make a little more noise than our last refrigerator, but still not bad. Also, Whirlpool should have included one more freezer shelf; not enough of them.

Awesome fridge. Counter depth fit perfectly. Love the smaller ice cubes. Fridge got cold quickly during startup. Had ice cubes drop around 4 1/2 hours. Easy connections. Easy installation. Sleek design. Love it

Very nice design. Like the water and ice dispenser, big enough for a mug to fit in can set the water dispenser to measure out in ounces and cups of water. Has plenty of room inside. The shelves on the door have lots of storage. The stainless steel finish is easy to keep clean.

Great refrigerator for anyone wanting just that...a refrigerator without all the fancy add on’s & at a great price. I’ve now had it for just over 2 months & my only complaints are very minimal (more shelves would be great, the loudness of the ice maker could be quieter, & the delay when you get water/ice drives me a bit crazy & even my guests seem to think it doesn’t work so I have to tell them to hold the cup under there for a few moments). Aside from those things...no complaints.

This is an excellent refrigerator that controls temperatures very well. The icemaker makes good quantities and dispenses nicely.
The capacity is good and organized OK. It needs an additional freezer shelf, that is not available even at the gross overprice of $100.00. Its height is about 1-2" shorter than a standard refrig. This was purchased because it was the only on available for immediate delivery.

We picked this model to fit in a small space with close counters. From that standpoint it is perfect and does the job well. Only drawback is the noise. It seems to be little louder than our previous models. it is not an issue in our case, but just a heads up if installed next to the media room or TV.

My old 30 plus year fridge finally bit the dust.I am very Happy with this new whirlpool Fridge. It has plenty of space. It could use another shelf in the freezer and fridge. I really like the ice maker and the led lighting,

I recently purchased this refrigerator and Very happy with the design, the look and fit. I do wish, however, that it had one more shelf in the freezer section, as it has the space for an additional one.

Overall: it's a decent counter depth fridge for the money. It's not the best but it's not the worst. I had a Samsung that needed to be replaced twice in 3 years due to manufacturing defects so as long as this one doesn't have that, I'll be happy.
Pros: it's a nice counter depth fridge for under $2k. Water and ice dispenser, seems to cool well. There's not a ton to say. It's just a fine fridge/freezer for the money.
Cons:
- as some other reviews have said, it doesn't come with enough shelves, which is annoying. You really need at least one more shelf in the fridge and the freezer.
- it doesn't come with an air filter! It's super weird that it doesn't come with it.
- it's loud(ish). The ice maker is quite loud and the compressor itself is louder than our previous Samsung. It's not terrible but it is more noticeable than I'm used to.

The right cooling area (not the freezer ) on this is a little smaller than what I imagined but still just sufficient for a two people family
Apart from that the equipment is quite efficient and super effective cooling
The ice dispenser is quite handy and easy to use !

Just purchased a new house and the kitchen design had a cutout box area for a refrigerator already made. The counter depth was the primary reason we purchased the fridge, along with the fact that all the other appliances that came with the home were Whirlpool. Sits fairly flush however did not consider the spacing behind refrigerator cannot sit flush against the wall to allow space for the hoses in the back for the water line. Which does not allow the fridge to be TRULY counter depth. Not a big deal though. However, my one knock on it is the sound it makes when processing ice. Not the ice maker dropping ice into the tray, but for some reason when then ice maker is turned on, it makes a loud buzzer sound which I assume is the line allowing water into the freezer for the ice.

Love the ice maker. Roomier than I expected. Quiet. Beautiful to look at. Perfect for my space.

Whirpool 20.6 cubic foot side by side refrigerator

My Whirlpool 20.6 cubic foot side by side counter depth refrigerator was purchased at Pacific Sales and doesn't appear in my Best Buy account purchases but their email asked for my product review. This refrigerator was one of 3 basic units that fit my narrow kitchen so this limited my final selection. The main appearance for a side by side with ice and water dispenser looks generic and hasn't changed too much, but there are some things that make me wonder what the product engineers were thinking or drinking when designing this unit.
The freezer and refrigerator shelves are thin tempered glass, and drawers and shelving sides are thin and flimsy plastic. Frost appears on the freezer shelves. My old Kenmore unit had sturdy wire shelving and basket in the freezer, and the refrigerator side had tempered glass shelves with a lip around all 4 sides to keep minor spills from dripping below, a way better design that should be restored.
The refrigerator and freezer side has problems with the odd vertical spacing of shelves which are either fixed or hard to space apart. They are either too far apart or too close to the one above or below. The door shelves on the refrigerator side are especially odd when the knobs on both sides for the shelves to push down and hang from are spaced apart for one of three measurements. Hard to explain but you'll see when trying to shift shelves up or down, shelves only work in one of three sections of the door.... bottom, middle and upper sections.
If engineers thought like a consumer and made things simpler to use, the shelves would have evenly spaced vertical measurements so all of the knobs to push down on and hang from would have the same distance from the back wall all along the door sides for easier shelving placement options.
The water dispenser ALWAYS drips unless you keep the cup in place an extra couple of seconds to avoid that drip to the shiny metal grill below that has sharp edges so be careful when handling it. I removed and stored the metal grill to avoid seeing spots all over the shiny surface. The ice maker and dispenser seems to be working fine so far.
The refrigerator door hinge started to squeak loudly like in a suspense movie door opening and closing after 8 days and hasn't stopped. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the door alignment is not level vertically and spaced unevenly horizontally. The installer mentioned that the door is made heavier based on many complaints and that he couldn't help adjust it for me. Others don't seem to have the same issue based on their photos.
I'll check out the owner's manual again and call the Geek Squad for help.
