Wife and I bought all new appliances after the old hand me downs retired. Wife loved the design so we bought this and all the matching appliance to go with it. Within the first 3 months the freezer door broke (crack on inside of door) customer service easy to work with and was fixed with a week. 8 months in and the ice machine stopped working due to the motor being blown.... customer service was easy to work with and problem resolved within 2 weeks. Due to customer service I would buy this brand again. Ice maker is slow at producing ice. Water filter doesn't last 6 months, but I have 4 kids who "must" have water from the fridge. Tons of storage for all those Capri Sun and soda if you drink it. Overall It's a great product and we love it!

This fridge is great! It fit where our old, very simple fridge stood and we were able to get it inside our home by taking the doors off (well, the delivery guys took the doors off). I love having the middle drawer, as it makes it much easier to find fruits and veggies while cooking. The ice maker is located in the door, so there's not wasted space inside the fridge - unlike many other similar models. All the shelves are customizable, so you can truly fit everything in there! I used to have an overstocked fridge and I have yet to fill my fridge up - even after a $200 shopping trip at a discounted farmers market for mostly refrigeration-required groceries. The freezer is nice with 3 shelves - so I have a random section, a veggies section, and a berry/smoothie section. We keep the ice maker dry/off unless we have guests over and use the water function frequently. After a few months it seems as though the water doesn't finish right when you let the button go - but I think that's common.

    Surprising Amount of Space

I was skeptical of how useful the space in this would be, since I am accustomed to side-by-sides. The in-door baskets that can hold gallon jugs and additional small items rally make this fridge, and the middle meat/cheese drawer, accessible from the outside, has proved very useful for those go-to kitchen items (cheese, butter, garlic, bacon, etc.). The best part, hands down, is the freezer space. The two slide-out drawers are surprisingly roomy - one can hold three Warehouse Store bags of fish laid flat - and the sectioned bottom makes sorting for stuff easy. I do think the pricepoint is too high for what you get.

    Excellent Refrigerator

This is our first French Door refrigerator and our second Whirlpool refrigerator. Our first Whirlpool lasted over 16 years and was still going strong at the time of the new purchase. It was hard to think of switching to another brand. This refrigerator has exceeded our expectations so far. Some people have reported that it is unusually loud but we haven't noticed this at all. One important feature is the ice in the door. After an exhaustive search, we noticed that many of the models had the ice maker in the refrigerator which took up much needed space. The interior is well lit and spacious. For us, one of the major selling points was the 4th door, or drink drawer. We have two teenagers and this has become the most used feature of the refrigerator. No longer do they have to stand with the fridge doors open trying to decide on what to grab. I was skeptical at first but after a month of use, I can say that the drinks are ice cold and easily accessible. The freezer section is spacious as well and has two pull out drawers that are of a nicer quality than others that we had seen. There's even a frozen pizza compartment on the door. I would recommend this refrigerator to anyone.

    Great Whirlpool Refrigerator

I had a side-by-side refrigerator that I really was not happy with. This fridge is awesome. It has so much space. Everything is in view. No more hunting through the whole fridge looking for something. It even beeps if the door doesn't close all the way. The middle drawer provides even more room for organizing your fridge. I am very pleased with this purchase. The stainless surface is even more friendly to fingerprints.

Whirlpool Refrigerator Model: WRX988SIBM00 Retails $2,999 Purchased 12/2014; delivered 12/24/14 Loved this refrigerator for the first year! Like french doors, shelving/organization, and particularly the extra drawer. Freezer is convenient, etc. But then, just before the one year warranty ran out (thankfully!), the refrigerator stopped cooling properly. It sneaks up on you because it cools to about 58 degrees. At first, you think you are imagining it, but then things begin to spoil quickly. Investigated and found drawer vent had frozen over. It is since been de-iced four times (by ourselves and Geek Squad). We have been without refrigerator for nearly 3 weeks (over the holidays!), and Best Buy Geek Squad is in no hurry to resolve the problem. I am writing a lengthy review (first ever actually!) to help future buyers understand the level of frustration and the cost that may be associated with owning this product, and getting service through Best Buy. Week of Dec. 14, 2015 noticed it was not maintaining coolness. Cleaned out and noticed vent in drawer was frozen over. Threw away hundreds of dollars of food and beverages. De-iced, and fridge cooled down for about 24 hours. When we found it had warmed up again; called Geek squad to determine underlying cause and to repair. Geek squad repair person, Randy, came 12/22/15. He was very kind and polite. Once again, he de-iced the drawer vent and ordered some parts to be delivered to our house. Told us to call him when parts arrived. Refrigerator cooled down, and we reloaded. By 12/25 it was warm again, threw away more food and beverages between Christmas eve and Christmas day parties. Parts finally arrived the following week, and called Randy directly; he came late in the day 12/28. It did not occur to us until later that these parts were not expressed. Once again, Randy defrosted the vent. He also took one of the parts, and left one here; didn’t use any of the parts that had been ordered. Said he ordered a different part and the refrigerator should be cool for now; once again we were to call him when it arrived. By 12/30 refrigerator was warm again. Threw away more food and beverages. Called Randy and left detailed message at noon (with New Year’s eve party the next day), he did not return call until 1/2/16. He said he will come when part arrives sometime next week. 1/2/16 called Geek squad general number to speak with supervisor and get a status update. Gave detailed account of what has occurred. Turns out part was never ordered on 12/28 as promised…It wasn’t ordered until 1/2/16, and again, it wasn't shipped express. Seems like the Geek Squad would keep some of these parts on hand given that several reviewers have indicated they had the same problems. During that call, had to wait for call back ~30 minutes. Then, explained everything to next person. She put me on hold and got transferred to “Rashon.” After putting me on hold again, he reported that he called Randy’s manager, who didn’t answer and that he was going to email him and one of them would get right back to us with a resolution. I wasted nearly an hour with no answers while refrigerator still isn’t working. Between 1/2/16 and 1/5/16, I did not hear back from Best Buy Geek Squad or supervisor as I had been told. I called several times, but didn’t have 30 minutes to wait on hold. Desperate to get our refrigerator working, I called again today; I repeatedly listed my problem as “supervisor” for the voice system and eventually was connected to “Hershon,” who appeared to be very empathetic and said he’d transfer me to the appliance supervisor. Instead, I got put back into the waiting system and waited another 30 or so minutes for another return call. During that time, I contacted Whirlpool at 1-866-698-2538; received another message telling me that they were receiving high call volumes and I would be on hold for some time. Can’t sit here for 30 minutes just waiting, and chance missing the Best Buy call back. Further, based upon the other reviewers with similar problems, I soon realized I won’t get anywhere with Whirlpool either. This is the first Whirlpool product we ever purchased – won’t purchase another one. Our last refrigerator was a different brand – lasted more than 20 years with only one minor repair of the ice machine at about the 15 year mark. Too bad I wanted the extra refrigerator drawer (and wanted to buy an Ohio product) and tried Whirlpool. After about 30 minutes, I received the call back, and again said I needed to speak to a supervisor, but first had to briefly explain the problems yet again. After another 15 minutes on hold, I was told the next part will be here on the 7th and we can schedule repair then. I indicated that we need some higher level of assistance because there is still no evidence that the next part (on or after the 7th) will correct the problem, and we can't continue another week without a refrigerator! I also repeatedly tried to help this person see my point of view, as patiently as I could, that Best Buy seems to have no sense of urgency in this situation. Again, I waited on hold another 10 minutes for assistance, and then was disconnected. No one called me back. I’d like to say I give up, but I can’t just send back a $3,000 refrigerator that is only one year old. I also realize now that we are not the only one with this problem. Other consumers have written in about this same cooling issue. It seems to occur 3-12 months out. This is the worst possible service I could have ever imagined. I doubt any Best Buy employee would find it acceptable to live without a refrigerator for 3 or more weeks (not to mention over the holidays!). Further, most people do not have hours each day to sit on hold, or the patience to repeatedly tell the same story/problems again and again, and get no real answers! It is also not convenient to have to arrange to be home to repeatedly to have the service person come repeatedly either. Ironically, each time I call, they ask me about whether we purchased the extended geek squad protection. Given that our last refrigerator lasted 20 years, we didn't see the need at the time. Given the horrible customer service, we would never consider it now. This is the poorest customer service I have ever experienced. We recently purchased a $6,000! TV from Best Buy, and we are strongly considering returning it because we were worried that we will have the same customer service problem, if a problem should arise. Fortunately, we were able to purchase "Square Trade" from Costco for this Best Buy TV - a fraction of the cost, and our experience with Square Trade was very positive on previous purchases.

We had this fridge delivered 6/26/2014. Upon plugging it in it seemed like it was a lot louder then it should have been. BUT we decided we'd wait til it was completely cooled before we got to overzealous about it. Once it was completely cooled, noise is still going. I guess for people who can't hear it would be a great fridge, but for me the constant droney noise was a no go for me. I tried to call customer service to see if this was a normal problem, but hey they work normal business hours. I had seven days to return with no question and made the call to just send it back. I was very disappointed because I really LOVED everything about this refrigerator other then the LOUD noise.

Have had this refrigerator for a week now. Within the first two days had to have service out because of the noise. Service tech told me that it was normal and that is a common complaint. Hate the noise!!! I love the features of the refrigerator; especially the middle drawer. Makes it very convenient to get items which are used all the time. The water dispenser lever is a bit hard to press with a glass since it is at the top of the lever and not on the bottom of the lever; I usually press the lever with the other hand while holding glass under dispenser. It is a beautiful refrigerator and I hope I will not regret my purchase after reading other reviews where people have had frost issues. Haven't had it long enough to evaluate that yet. With what you pay for the refrigerator, you would hope that Whirlpool would have made a quieter and better refrigerator. When you pay good money for things, you expect better quality than what Whirlpool has offered in this refrigerator.

I've had this fridge a few weeks. It's been great! Everything works wonderfully - including the water/ice dispenser. This fridge is quiet...there are times when I hear the compressor kick on/off or ice being made, but nothing out of the normal. LOTS of room...this is the fridge for you if you like easy loading and being able to see everything. Lots of room in the freezer as well!

DON'T BUY THIS FRIDGE!! We bought the 28 cu ft version of this refrigerator. We trusted the Whirlpool name and were very happy with it until now. It is not even been 18 months since our purchase and one of the fans died causing the French door cabin part of the fridge to settle at 55 degrees. It's costed us time off work, hundreds of dollars and around 3-5 days before the fan can be located and the refrigerator repaired. I am so disappointed. I grew up with Whirlpool and believed they were a quality product, but apparently they are have lowered their standards.

Purchased 2/11. Delivered 2/28. Ice maker leaked and created icicles and puddle of water from the beginning. Freezer built up frost/ice on the track. Called best buy Geek Squad support, but they had to refer me to Whirlpool during first year. Whirlpool took over a week to come out. replaced a seal and sprayed some sticky stuff on the freezer to make the magnet seal better. Within a week we have same leaking ice maker. This fridge has all of the features we want, but it definitely has QC issues and I'm not sure that its ready for prime time. repair person said Whirlpool rushed it to market to compete with Samsung and there are a lot of issues. All I know is that it is feature rich, costs over $2300, and leaks water and has frost buildup. Not recommended, but if you buy it be sure to get the extended service plan b/c if I've had 2 service calls in first 6 weeks, I cannot imagine the reliability will improve over time.

I purchased this refrigerator on November 15th, 2014 and it was delivered on November 22, 2014. At first, everything was great, but after three months we noticed the refrigerator was running extremely loudly and in May the refrigerator started rebooting itself. We called Whirlpool but it was about a week before they could send a repairman out to look at it. During this time we had to house our refrigerated items in our neighbors fridges as well as in coolers. Since then the refrigerator repairman has been out no less than five times due to ice build up and leaking at the top of the refrigerator. Every time whirlpool tells him to order a new kit and come back to install it. Every time, their new kit does not fix the issue. The repairman came out for the fifth time this morning and now they have told him to order a new air flow kit. He went to order it and guess what...whirlpool won't even have the part created and in their warehouse until after the first weekend in December so the repairman said it would be mid December before he can get the new part and try to install it. I've begged Whirlpool to replace my refrigerator with no luck. How much longer can this go on???

I bought this refrigerator about 4 years ago. I really liked the middle drawer and all the storage space it had. However, with this refrigerator I have had nothing but problems. It started about 8 months after I purchased it, it quit making ice. So I read online to unplug it and it would reset. So I did that and it worked fine for about 6 months. Then it started doing it again. So I tried resetting it and nothing. So I checked the error codes and the ice maker was bad. I replaced the ice maker and again it ran fine for about 6 months, then the same thing. It needs to be reset every so often because it stopped producing ice. Then it began leaking water from the water connection on the back of the fridge. It was a slow leak and I didn't notice it till my laminate floor began to buckle. I replaced that part. Now six months after that it has developed another leak from underneath the refrigerator. I turned off the water line and the leak stopped. At this point I am finished with this refrigerator and with Whirlpool. I have owned other whirlpool appliances in the past and I am typically brand faithful, but I have had too many issues in 4 years with a refrigerator. I am replacing it and it will not be with another Whirlpool. I have a side by side whirlpool refrigerator in my basement that is about 17 years old that has given me no issues. Not sure what has changed at Whirlpool, but quality is no longer the same. I cannot recommend this or any other Whirlpool appliance at this point. Buy a different refrigerator from a different manufacture.

Purchased 2016. Had to replace freezer gasket while still under warranty. After warranty expired had to have same gasket replaced only this time it cost me $350. Now a year later the whole drawer is frozen shut and I can’t get my food out so I bought a GE French Door. Hope it works better. BTW I read about Class Action Law Suit and Whirlpool has NOT changed their design even though it is faulty.
