Smoke and fumes from cooking disappear into the hood and are gone. The light is by incandescent bulb, so I will never have the aggravation of changing a halogen bulb again. This is good, because the downside is a very unattractive appearance given by the underside of the hood. Very strangely, this hood does not say "Whirlpool" on it anywhere. And the owner's manual does not mention a maker anywhere. I have never seen before an appliance that was so incognito.

The externally vented fan has two speeds and does a good job venting fumes and excess heat from the stove top.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.When we FINALLY got this, it had a dent in it but because it took so long to get here (2 &1/2 months) we installed it anyway and ordered another one which of course is on back order. It was a little tricky to install if you are doing it yourself. You will need 2 people but the performance of the product is just fine. Gave it 4 stars for taking too darn long.

Great hood for a average size kitchen

I installed it which was a total pain to do, even with two people, and then, the fan worked for one day. It's nice to have a light above my stove but that's about all it's good for. I wouldn't purchase it again. It's just too hard to uninstall and get a new one again.
