Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is by far the most expensive refrigerator I have ever purchased and it's also by far the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. We built a new home in 2016 and purchased all Whirlpool for this new home including this refrigerator. We closed escrow on the home in December of 2016. This refrigerator stopped cooling in the summer of 2017. 8/20/2017 to be exact. I know the exact take is I'm looking at the service call report. I guess there was a recall on a board that they had. (board number W10872523). It's a shame that the customers become their quality control for them. Very upset because we paid so much for this refrigerator and as you know it's a very deep refrigerator and we designed our home around it so it would not stick out. They proudly post the American a sticker on it stating designed, engineered and made in the US! What a disappointment from Whirlpool. Now I sit here and write this review today June of 2019 because my refrigerator stopped working again for the 2nd time. Are you kidding me seriously a 2 1/2 year old refrigerator and it has stopped working twice now. I do not know what's wrong with it as a service Tech has not even come yet to look at it as this happened over a weekend. Today is Sunday Father's Day. This has completely change our plans for Father's Day. So Whirlpool engineers as I am an engineer myself I'm sure you know the issues with this refrigerator. So if you're listing I will tell you the icebox will not get colder than 38゚ and the refrigerator will not get colder than 48゚ I don't know if it's the same issue of frost building up or not I have not turned it off yet. All I can say is I'm here looking for answers so please feel free to respond to this email. or call me. Please please please do something to address the issues with this refrigerator and help me or I will never ever buy any Whirpool appliance again.

Your not going to believe this.

We originally loved this spacious unit but after two days it sounded as if it was a popcorn machine rather than a refrigerator. Best Buy was really good about switching unit out with a second one but unfortunately the second unit quit cooling after 24 hrs and all the food spoiled. Again they swapped out the unit and it worked for a whooping four months.The fridge temp only went down to 50f so the first tech comes and said he needed parts five days after calling. Wait two weeks for parts and took more days off work to be here.Finally get it fixed and same issue happens a month later. Tech was here a little over a week ago and said needed parts again, still waiting for parts again and no refrigerator. I believed the reviews here but not sure how long they have owned unit.

Dissatisfied Customer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.On March 12th, I was convinced to purchase the Whirlpool WRF993FIFM refrigerator. Since it was an open box item, the store offered it for a sweet deal--$1824 (for a $3239 refrigerator) to convince me. According to the salesperson, the item was last year model and had been used as a store room display. I was sold. About week later, the refrigerator arrived and I had them take away my old one. With all of my fridge items in a cooler on ice, I waited patiently for my new fridge to reach peak temperature....and it never happened. The next day, I called the Geek Squad to check the fridge and they said that the compressor wasn’t working and suggested that I go back to the store for an exchange. When I went back to Vallejo Best Buy (Store #1128), they told me that they had no comparable model and would only give me a 20% discount on a new one—meaning that I would have to pay an additional $700. I get that it’s an expensive refrigerator, but they shouldn’t have tried to sell it if it didn’t work. I now have no working fridge (since they carted away my old when the new one arrived), a bunch of rotting food, and an uncertain future of when they refrigerator will be fixed. As an Elite Plus rewards member, I spend a bunch of money at Best Buy every year and expect something better than this.

DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only had this Refrigerator for 2 years and then it went out due to a Power Outtage. Come to find out that the compressors on these models are not good and won't last due to it having a "Rotary Compressor". This is not a good compressor, Whirlpool stop manufactoring this product due to a high rate of customers having really bad problems with the Refrigerator not staying on. My Refrigerator is making a beeping sound every 10 mins telling me that it is losing Temp because it thinks the door is open when really the compressor is shutting on and off. Crazy thing I spent all this money for a Whirlpool that needs a new compressor but get this the compressor which are Rotary compressors cost $500 for the part not inculuding labor. So I might as well buy a new Fridge. SMH Never the less I think I might be switching over to Kitchen Aid or Samsung only because Whirlpool let me down. I'm so dissapointed.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Model #: WRF993FIFM March 30, 2017 - Bought Fridge June – Service calls & repairs July – Service calls & repairs August – Service call & adjustment September - Service call & still waiting repairs Issues in all service calls: water on the floor, noise, and not cooling Repairs: 4 parts “fix”, which included fans / compressor / adjusting the Freon, which was off the last 2 service calls. Whirlpool responses: Continued repairs / 6 months extension on warranty / Limited time offer (9/22/2017) for yearly service plans at a reduced price (Really Whirlpool, I am to pay to get your defective fridge repaired!?) This is the response I got the 3 time I tried to post this review on the Whirlpool site: We're sorry, an error has occurred while loading necessary components. We are looking into the problem. Please try again later. After reading others reviews that bought their fridge in the same time period as us and having same issues with no satisfactory resolution from Whirlpool, I don’t have any confidence that I will be treated any different. At this point, as much as I find the design of the interior and the size perfectly suited to our needs, the lack of quality of the basic cooling system, I would not even want a replacement. We just replaced a dishwasher and is not a Whirlpool product!

3 repair calls in 5 months on brand new fridge

It is now Jan 2018 and I am on hold AGAIN with Whirlpool to try to trouble shoot or schedule another repair visit - 3rd in 5 months. Seems the panel that controls the ice and water dispenser is out this time. Last time it was a defrost issue. I love my new fridge...when it's working. Definitely buy the 5 year extended warranty if you buy this fridge and start saving because in 5 years you're probably going to be buying a new fridge because of the repair costs.

Two brand new fridges neither one works

Second fridge that replaced the first will not cool below around 30 degrees in the freezer section. Ice cream is not even staying solid. Love the operation of the fridge and the fact that it has two ice makers but this is too major of a problem.

Like many others, problems with cooling

But unfortunately we are now on our second service call and are waiting on parts. The fridge starts to build up frost, prevents a fan from blowing air which causes ice to stop being made. Then it slowly gets worse until the freezer and fridge can't keep temps low enough. We have spoiled food twice now. What a waste of money. Our warranty is almost up, forcing us to have to spend even more money on an extended warranty so we can keep getting it fixed. Not much else we can do, except give it a bad review. Extremely disappointed in this product. We will think twice about purchasing Whirlpool again in the future.

Poor defrosting design

There is no heater and consequently it does not defrost the coils. In humid areas I imagine it will be worse. I have had geek squad come to the house twice for this issue. And I have personally defrosted it twice. This in just over year since purchase. I am returning it for another make and model tomorrow.

Looks great, horrible performance, disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the WRF993FIFM model on Mar 2, 2017 due to looks, volume, features, dual icemaker, convenience, etc., as part of entire kitchen upgrade. Last 4 weeks or so, it has developed major issues: 1) Refrigerator is not cooling enough; stays at about 45-47 deg (yes, I use a temp gauge) thus spoiling the food. Bottom freezer works great though. We will frequently hear a loud distant siren like sound as if the compressor is working too hard to cool. Major problem with food spoilage, etc. Tried all control setting, troubleshooting but no luck. 2) upper ice maker does not produce enough ice (it is supposed to produce 3 lbs per day). Bottom ice maker works great and plenty of ice. But upper one will produce like 1/2 cup and then stop; after fully emptying and cleaning the chute, it will do the same. Upper ice also moist, unlike bottom ice. Geeksquad tech mentioned upper is incorrectly maintaining a 18 deg temp and needs to be at 8 deg to produce ice. 3) Water thru dispenser is room temp and not cold. I had bought BestBuy's warranty so GeekSquad came once, did some diagnostics; ordered parts, and now will come back next week to try to repair. One thing to note is the depth-it will stick out about 8 inches beyond a regular counter-depth refrig-may not seem much when measured but when in kitchen, it does stick out. In summary, must purchase BB GS plan, very disappointed with the product, with Whirlpool's quality. Will update in a few weeks.

Spaceous, but breaks quickly, buyer beware!

It just stopped cooling one day out of the blue and started making a loud buzzing alarm noise. Apparently ice got stuck in the cooling shaft and broke the whole thing. Dual ice makers are NOT a good idea. The entire design of these french door models is terrible. They need to do some redesign and quick. Something this expensive should work and work well for years and years and years. Not one month. It is huge, so definitely make sure you have enough room to get it through your doors! Overall, I would not recommend buying this, complete waste of money and major headache. Thank goodness we still had our old fridge because to fix or replace appliances, it will take up to a month... All of your food will be wasted. Whirlpool needs to get it together.
