Customers are impressed with the 4.3 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer's cleaning performance and large capacity, finding it easy to use and a good value for the price. However, some customers noted that the washer can be noisy and that the lack of an agitator, less-than-ideal spin cycle, and absence of a fabric softener dispenser were drawbacks. A small number of users also reported reliability issues.

I got this whirlpool washer delivered a couple days ago. Have done about 10 loads. About 6 of the 10 were still soaking wet after it was done so luckily they have a drain and spin setting and that took care of it. Couple of those loads took forever to get thru the cycle. Kept sensoring constantly then would wash and just sit there and nothing would be running but the light would be on wash forever. Very disappointed in this washer. They must not make washers like the used to. My old Maytag you could throw it in and be done in 10 minutes and be fine. These new HE washers are for the birds. I will keep this for now but I would never buy this type of washer again. Too much drama with this washer. Just wash my clothes, drain and spin. That’s all I want!

I am very frustrated with this washer, it leaves white residue on my dark clothes. After this happened I looked on line and found this to be a common complaint but not mentioned in any of the best buy reviews? I have tried everything from setting combinations, detergent changes, allowing it to fill and dissolve soap before filling etc and still getting residue after an extremely long cycle. I like to use fabric softener but can't with this machine as it seems to make matters worse. It is very loud and takes a long time. The dryer is no better, have to run longer than previous dryers I have owned. My washes are not challenging, no kids just work clothes and gym clothes so this should be an easy job for any washer. Most loads are not even full. Regardless of the wash I am always frustrated and disappointed with the results. I can't imagine this could handle a family's washing needs with children's dirty clothes etc.

The Maytag I had gave out after 16 years of dutiful service, so I had to find a replacement. This is by no means a good replacement for what I had. It's the noisiest washer ever! It sounds like it's going to take off and fly through the roof...! Scares the daylights out of both my husband and I.
The new High Efficient machines are really not that efficient. I'm looking to replace this with a different model if possible. I've done 8 loads now, read the right way to load it and have given it a fair chance. It's not making me happy ! All my clothes are tied up in knots also. That never happened when I had the agitator.
Hopefully I can find something with a agitator that doesn't sound like a freaking airplane is taking off from the laundry room.
Look at another model ... this one sucks!

Worst product I have ever used in my life.

Like the title says this is the worst product I've ever used in my life by far it doesn't do what it's supposed to and that is wash clothes. If you put more than two pairs of pants in this machine it will set this thing off balance and will shake your house to an oblivion. It will go on a reset Loop and can take hours to do a single load. Sometimes I have to use delicate mode and even that doesn't work and will constantly do rinse Cycles. Because of this machine I question whirlpools thinking when they launched this machine the quality is subpar and it simply does not do what it was designed to do for this reason I will never in my life by another Whirlpool branded product.

Buyer Beware! Disappointed! Loud & Takes Too Long!

WOW! I was so excited when I read the reviews and have been utterly disappointed since the machine was installed last week. It's soooooo loud it borders on obnoxious!! It also takes over an hour for the clothes to wash (on 1 rinse cycle; normal setting) and the clothes come out VERY wrinkled. All balled up and that's with just half a load. I'm not sure how clean they are either. I don't see a difference between our OLD machine and this brand new one. This washer matches our dryer, so we were really looking forward to getting this machine, but were waiting for our old one to die. I am going to give it another couple days to see if somehow I can get used to it, but I have to say I am really, really bummed about it so far! It's just not as good as we hoped for ... not even close. Buyer Beware! I probably should be giving it one star, but I feel like I will give it a few more days until I completely evaluate the quality/functionality of this machine. I will definitely be looking into the return policy if I still feel this way this weekend.

No spot to hold softener!

Washer works well. However, the salesman did not let me know that there was not an area to hold the softener. Now I have to keep track of when the rinse water is running in the tub and add the softener at that time. That is very inconvenient!

I have 3 kids so I do a lot of laundry and this washer has been a God send. It has so many options that work for every different load I'm washing. The capacity is great and the clothes always come out clean.

Not what I expected

I was debating between this set and the Samsung set, the salesperson told me they were essentially the same, but the whirlpool was better longevity wise and cheaper to repair down the road. I didn’t realize that this washer did not have a detergent and softener dispenser and in order to use softener I would need to listen for the rinse cycle like my grandma used to do 20+ years ago. Had this been brought to my attention, I would have either gone with the Samsung or upgraded to the better whirlpool model. I guess that’s my fault for not noticing, but I didn’t realize any new HE washers were THAT basic. It washes my clothes just fine, I haven’t had any issues with excessively wet clothes like others have mentioned, but I’m really disappointed it’s lacking what I consider to be incredibly basic features. If I was within my return window I would most definitely return and upgrade

A washing machine should last more than 4 yrs

I've had this washer for 4 yrs. It was a good machine until recently. It often can't make it through a spin cycle and gets the dreaded F-51 code. Many times I have to put the clothes in the dryer while they are too wet. The repairman says it needs a new motherboard. The cost of the part plus labor is more than the machine costs new. I called Whirlpool and they can't do anything to help. The repairman says he has seen this in other machines of this brand. I am struggling with this machine as is and will eventually purchase another machine of a different brand. A washer should last more than 4 years.

6 Month Review

Bought this for a new house and have been using for 6 months now. If you read the directions, it works perfectly. I have found the sweet spot to be light soil, cold wash for great results. It is not super quiet, but for the price it is by no means loud. The drum is huge and can wash an entire hamper of clothes at once, pretty sweet. If you live in a tiny apartment I would say get something quieter (but look to spend double), but if you have a normal house (i keep mine in the basement) i would recommend.

Excellent Washer

My wife and I bought this washer, the Whirlpool wtw5000dw. It is the best washer we have owned (and we are in our 50s so...)
Anyways, i have noticed some poor rating reviews here, that i am sure is due to operator error.
Operator error is what we would term when there was a supposed "issue" with product but it was the customer who was not using the product correctly.
The poor reviews include that the washer vibrated way too much. People...the washer must be leveled first with a level before using, ensuring all 4 feet are firmly touching the floor. Also another poor review was the washer does not wash well, leaving sope residue. Now, when installing this washer, one must use the new style, High Efficiency water hoses and not the older, previous hoses connecting the older washers.
Also, one must use High Efficiency style detergent as well.
I believe if these people who have written these bad reviews would go back and ensure they are following all these tips, they would have a wonderful outcome.
Again, this washer is excellent. It does not vibrate excessively and surely does wash very very well including rinsing completely!
I would highly recommend this washer. Buy it trust me.
And all this is coming from a lifetime do-it-yourselfer, previous car audio installer, a car mechanic and a professional machinist for 20 years. In other words...i know how "things" work!

Washer has no agitator. The style of washer ties clothes in knots. I have spoken with others who own washers without the agitator and they say they have the same issue with clothes coming out tangled together.
Also no way to pre-load the fabric softener. My washer is located in the lowest level of the house so I don't easily know when it's time to add the fabric softener. Very inconvenient. I do not recommend purchasing.

After my old whirlpool washer waterpump started leaking after 20 years of reliable service, I decided it was time for a new washer from Whirlpool. The price was right and it doesn't get off balance. It is so different than my old washer! It is not loud at all but it has different sounds at different times in the wash. It only
has a little blade in the middle 2 inches high, It doesn,t use much
water or detergent as before. It has many settings to customize
the wash. BOTTOM LINE IT CLEANS THE LAUNDRY BETTER THAN BEFORE! THe tub is very large and I can put a king size comforter
without any difficulty which I could not do before. There is no need to spend double on front loaders! The quick wash setting is very useful. As an added bonus it is made in the USA.

Read all reviews the worst 1st. The best last. This washer makes me wonder why all washers aren't HE. Reading the negative reviews and the manual. It's obvious that the negative users did not read the instructions! Everything the sited are the warnings of what not to do. Bought ours on 4-2-16 couldn't have it delivered until the 6th. In one load all of our laundry for 3 people for 1 week (just over 2 loads normally) was done perfect! The noises are new the settings are different. But very quite. People this is not the washer we grew up with. That said don't buy it if you can't be taught! It's not a washer it's a HE clothes washer Read! Learn! Enjoy!
