Customers are impressed with the 4.3 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer's cleaning performance and large capacity, finding it easy to use and a good value for the price. However, some customers noted that the washer can be noisy and that the lack of an agitator, less-than-ideal spin cycle, and absence of a fabric softener dispenser were drawbacks. A small number of users also reported reliability issues.

Dirty clothes

Dirty clothes, extremely basic machine, and LOUD! This washer did not allow enough water or supply movement to get clothes thoroughly clean. Because it locks when washing, it took awhile for me to notice the lack of water in a wash. A few times I had to pause a wash because I forgot to put something in, so that's when I noticed that the water level does NOT cover or go above the clothes. The machine's load size is "sensed" rather than selected by you. The drum doesn't move all the clothes around well so your clothes don't all get a good swish of movement or even water coverage. Very basic washer: no place for detergent or fabric softener; detergent has to be put at the bottom of the washing tub and before clothes are placed in. No place to put fabric softener liquid!!!! You have to wait and time yourself to be ready to pause your rinse cycle to put in softener. Who has the patience or time? I had to buy a fabric softener ball and go all primitive. My clothes smelled clean but I noticed big dirty spots. My white sheets came out with stains where dirt would gather in clumps on various places after a wash. When I washed color clothes, it wasn't as noticeable. When I washed lighter clothes, I could see how it wasn't coming out thoroughly clean. Yes, it is loud! I read the other reviews and agree it is extremely loud. My son alarming commented that he thought the washer was broken because it sounded unexpectedly loud. No it was not broken but just loud. Though it sounded like it was working hard, it didn't do much washing :(

This is my first brand new washer. I shopped around and compared prices and Best Buy beat the others. It's a good washer so far. I wish it had a fabric softener section, but I will just get a Downey ball.

This washer is OK but not great. The clothes are sometimes left very wet after washing. It happens only sometimes so I don't know why. Also it doesn't use enough water to get all of the soap off. Especially on black clothing you can see dried soap that's left on.

Well, good washer. Heavy load and it lasted me four years before trying it to get repaired. Used by a family of 5.

Everything breaks and my review of the machine is satisfactory. But my problem is with the Extended Warranty and Geek Squad. I have been waiting on repairs since Monday morning. I am told that a dispatch should be complete within 48 hours. Today is Thursday (night.)So by Saturday they will tell the 3rd party repairman to take action. Yesterday I was stood up by the repairman who scheduled to be here between 8-12. I have a handicapped wife and son whose bladder disorders requires me to wash almost daily. Best Buy Geek Squad could care less. Bearing in mind that parts need to be ordered after the dispatch i could be well into the 2nd week. Don't waste your time or money on Geek Squad.

replacement for same model I've had for 5 years

I've had this brand & model for 5 years & did laundry for 2 people during that time.I loved it. when it started being loud & grinding the Repairman said it would cost $400 to fix. I wish I had paid it instead of rebuying the EXACT same model for $700. The on button the new machine is recessed & you have to push very hard to get it to engage. Also,My old one distributed the laundry evenly when it spun, leaving blankets & comforters looking like the cover of a drum on the bottom of the washer. The washer never seemed to struggle with blankets & comforters, It also seemed to fill silently from the bottom. This new washer fills loudly like a waterfall from the top & struggles with blankets. when I open the washer everything is twisted & along the sides. It has a much louder & more violent spin cycle . these 2 washers act VERY different though they are the same model ! I am going to send this new one back & try a different model & brand even

Bought this washer 5 years ago. It no longer agitates correctly and has always made a horrific amount of noise. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but an item that uses this much material and costs several hundred dollars should last more than 5 years. I have a nearly 40 year old clothes iron that still works perfectly. Scheduled obsolescence is killing our planet and isn’t too great for our wallets either.

Broke after 3yrs 9mos. Doesn’t clean well if you have lots of dirt or stains. We live in the country and my kids and husband are hard on clothes. Very loud on spin cycle. Doesn’t handle bulky stuff well…seems to get uneven in the basket and won’t drain well. Going back to agitator style.

This washer was delivered on October 3 2015, during November 2015 the washer would not drain or do anything, after unplugging and leaving unplugged for several hours the washer started working again. On January 2, 2016 the washer quit working again, I called bestbuy of Lafayette LA and talked to a salesperson who informed me that they only take care of things within 14 days, after that period I have to contact whirlpool directly. Went onto whirlpool website to try to schedule service and keep getting some type of error message, total junk in my opinion, not worth the hassle

For some reason, this washer seems to wear fabrics thin to the point that holes form. We've followed the manual's guidance from the get go so not sure what else to do. Then, its suspension broke after 4 years. Aftermarket parts range from $30 to $80 (genuine) but not sure what else broke. Figured it would be cheaper to just replace the unit considering there are rebates from our energy company. Also, I don't think there's a solution to the fabric damage it is causing.
Disappointed because one factor in the purchase was to buy American.

I bought this in 2020 I had to have somebody come out to service it because it jumps around. Then to find out that I need a new washer because replacing the gear that spins it would just be a Band-Aid and it would happen again I do not recommend buying this you will need a new washing machine in a matter of a few years

I recently purchase this machine . In part due to these reviews and the salespersons help . Just had repairman here due to the noise level of this washer . First off since there is no agitator I assumed it would be great for larger loads like sheets . Because of the low water usage and lack of movement by lack of an agitator it doesn't get the clothes clean . This was verified by the technician . Save your money and buy either a top loader with an agitator or a front loader LG. Since I have only had this a very short time and used very little we called the location where we purchased it to upgrade to a machine that will do what we need . They refused ...... do your research and we learned the hard ways. This was the first appliance to be replaced . We will be doing the whole house but now not from this Best Buy . When a tech tells you and shows you ..... you listen

This Whirlpool washer (WTW5000DW) started malfunctioning after less than a year. I made the mistake of delaying and not having a repairman out within that time period. When the repairman said the cost to repair was higher than the cost to replace, I had the nasty surprise that this machine has only a one year warranty. The washer now can only handle one thin blanket or a half load of lightweight clothing, otherwise the banging of the tub as it spins during the rinse cycle can be heard on the third level of my home. In other words, it sounds like it will bang apart. This model is a terrible waste of money.
