If you have read the book, "Wild", by Cheryl Strayed, you will not be disappointed in this movie. Although some detail has to be left out, the spirit of the book was adhered to & Reese Witherspoon does justice to the part. If you read the book, Cheryl Strayed isn't exactly the girl-next-door. In fact, she's pretty messed up. But, this monumental endeavor to hike the Pacific Crest Trail with no experience helped her to get beyond the personal damage of a life not well lived. This movie is inspiring. You will feel uplifted.

Resse's portrayal of a broken woman seeking validation through unhealthy relationships, drugs and alcohol and how her journey of healing and self-discovery was engaging. My only criticism is that like all too many movies made in Hollywood, they have to insert their particular message of propaganda into an otherwise honest story of life.

Cheryl Strayed, played by Reese Witherspoon, is the central figure of this story infused with flashbacks. She hikes the Pacific Crest Trail to rediscover herself after the death of her mother, played by Laura Dern. Her 1000 mile journey, with great scenic visuals, is frequently interrupted with flashbacks explaining her life's struggles.

True story of a woman's journey through life's obstacles and the triumphs she achieves. Reese Witherspoon is superb and the scenery is fantastic. I never knew the Pacific Crest Tail existed before watching this movie and now I want to go hike it! From "Legally Blonde" to "Wild", this lady is a fantastic actor. Her choice to put herself out there with no makeup makes her character all the more believable and vulnerable. The behind the scenes footage completes journey. A must see adventure.

Solid performance from Reese Witherspoon, who very quietly the last few years has been slowly rebuilding her acting credibility with more challenging roles. The story itself isn't all that great, but with Witherspoon's performance, good direction and editing Wild is able to overcome its story limitations.

This film was phenomenal in theaters and was the best I have ever seen Reese act. She was totally deserving of her Oscar Nod. This film made my top ten list for 2014, but my wife did not get to view it with me in the theaters--so I had to purchase it to watch it again with her. I know that she will love it as well--it is spiritually and emotionally uplifting...a great film to show that growth can occur from even the deepest darkest hours.

I had no idea what to expect. I love Reese Witherspoon, but this is most definitely not her normal character. This film is very ... strong, yet it never hits you in the face. It's a quiet watch, and when you're done you'll want to watch it again to see if you missed any subtleties... or views. The acting is superb, and the storyline is simple. This is a great movie to watch solo or with a friend who won't talk the whole way through

If you haven't seen The Wild yet, it is a great movie! Even better in 4K format if you have the setup for it at home! We saw this in the theater and the 4K home theater experience is better. For those that like to hike, camp, backpack, and self discover this one will get you in the mood to tackle some challenges this spring!

This movie was made to be in 4k in which it shined because of it's beautiful outdoor's scenery that felt so real it made you feel like you were hiking with her in her journey. I seen the Blu-ray before and now I watch the 4k version and it was worth the upgrade .

The movie is based on a book about a woman walking in the wilderness to find herself, to rid herself of her demons by walking them out. While it sounds like a dull proposition, the makers of this film are able to craft an excellent film from small narrative. Reese Witherspoon does a fantastic job in this movie, and I enjoyed it much better than I thought I would. Adult drama lovers, this is for you!

I saw the movie advertised on Netflix some time ago and never got around to watching it before it was removed, and I noticed it was on sale at Best Buy for $5 so I scooped it up. It's hard NOT to love Reese Witherspoon in anything she's been in. From her iconic role as Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde" to her most recently in the HBO limited series "Big Little Lies."

Great movie,great story. only one thing was wrong. the director went from Mohave ,California right to Oregon. they skipped the PCT in California. Very disappointing to say the least. Ive hiked many parts of the PCT in California, and was hoping to see some of the places in this movie... :( even the Kennedy meadows isn't the real Kennedy Meadows..

And I would say that I did?? I think?? When watching Wild I could see exactly why Reese Witherspoon was nominated for awards and the movie has acclaim...great cinematography. The scenery throughout her journey is gorgeous. But also at the same time I kept thinking...is this another Into The Wild...or is it another Cast Away?? Really l, its neither of those...her journey is more of a self realization and cleansing one which is admirable and beautiful to be honest...but, just like those last two I mentioned I found to be very boring. Wild made me realize this type of flick is not my speed...that being said this movie has quality to it and I will always recommend something that has obvious quality.

The movie was really different - and had some unexpected crazy scenes. Be careful who is around you when watching. However, it was really surprising at many points - and I really enjoyed Reece in a different role than she usually plays.

This is a Reese Witherspoon vehicle, so it helps to be a fan. The story is about conquering personal demons, challenging your limits, and defying expectations. Very cool to see the Pacific Crest Trail and the special features about the hikers.

I love this movie! It got very mixed reviews from my coworkers and friends but I absolutely loved it. It is an emotional journey of reflection and self discovery, and Reese witherspoon plays the part very well! I watch it over and over.

This is an excellent movie based on a true story. Beautiful scenery and good acting by the players. I recommend it to everyone, especially Women of all ages. Many people have no idea what They are capable of until They try

Reese Witherspoon is excellent, lots of range; the film does a nice job integrating the flashbacks, and the Cheryl Strayed story cuts deep. The director / producer interview was a little light but still interesting.

I love true stories. Looked for this movie on Hulu, youtube, everywhere. But you have to pay to watch it. So I thought might as well just buy it. They give you 4k and Blu-ray. I don't have a 4k, but do have a blu-ray player. This movie is amazing. Pick up curb side was a breeze.

Even though I was not a fan of the film, I do have to say that this DVD is well put together. Both: sound and picture quality are good and special features are always welcome. I would recommend this if you are one of the fans of this film.
