Hybrid Luxury SMART Durable Dive Watch

Withing’s ScanWatch Horizon is the hybrid smartwatch that combines analog (hour and minute hands) and digital display(sub-dial) with SMART functionality. It’s a durable luxury dive watch that is water resistance rated at 10 ATM /100m suitable for swimming or snorkeling and is dustproof. One of the best-selling factors is the battery life. Withing’s claims 30 days battery life and it may be true as during our testing for past 5 days, the battery was down only 15% from its full charge under normal usage with always display off under settings. It has a flat sapphire glass with 43mm 316L stainless steel case and has one of the best 5 years warranty in the market. It has got an optical heart rate monitor, measures and monitors blood oxygenation levels, temperature sensors, gyroscope and more. It lacks compass, GPS, Barometer or Cadence Sensor if used as fitness tracker. Pros: Excellent Battery Life between charges 5 Years Warranty Durability On-demand “medical grade” ECG and detect signs of atrial fibrillation Automatic activity detection Step tracking Sleep cycles and score Workout mode with over 30 sports Cons: Lack of inbuilt GPS, Compass, Barometer, Cadence Sensor Limited notification functionality for third party apps Week magnetic charger Lack of NFC No call answering / locating phone option Unboxing and Setup: Packaging and the included accessories are top notch for its price and features. It comes with all the accessories (small hammer, link removal tools) needed to adjust the metal link strap. USB Charger cable is included but no brick. Includes a Fluoroelastomer sport band (color varies depending on the dial) and swapping is easy due to the integrated spring bars. Comes with more than 70% of charge when unboxing. Suggest charging the watch fully before beginning the setup. Included manual doesn’t include the details on how or which app to download. Downloaded the app health mate from iOS and started the setup process by signing up a new account, verifying the account and setting up by following the onscreen instructions. Magnetic charger is not strong enough and falls off easily compared to other competitors on market. Also, aligning the charger to match the 2 charging points is little tedious. This watch is great for heart health monitoring to record an ECG. To measure, just press the digital crown and scroll down the features until you see ECG option. Press the digital crown once, then place you palm with fingers touching the bezel that acts as an electrode for measurement. It measures for 30seconds to display the results. For the first time, you would need to login to the app (health mate) on your mobile and enter the mobile number and full details for the heartbeat health (a virtual heart care practice of withing’s) to get it activated and the first reading will take few hours to get it. Once activated, you will receive a text message to view your results. After this initial setup, taking ECG is a breeze. Instant results and is the best way to detect AFib (atrial fibrillation). Very useful feature. It does have optical heart rate sensor and SpO2 tracking like apple watch. It uses a medical grade SpO2 sensor featuring wavelength technology for blood oxygen readings in 30 seconds. The respiratory scanner that comes with watch monitors oxygen saturation, heart rate, breathing frequency and movements at night during sleep. All the heart health date is stored in the app and can be easily shared with your PCP or family members via the health report feature. When it comes to tracking activity, this watch tracks all your steps, sports sessions. It does have an automatic activity detection where it will automatically recognize the activity like biking, hiking, or swimming (over 30 sports supported) and log those in app. It does not have an inbuilt GPS but does have connected GPS that uses your mobile phone GPS to map the elevation, distance, and sessions. It does track sleep cycles (light and deep), sleep duration, wake up details and any interruptions. Notifications are delivered and can be seen in the sub-dial and watch vibrates when a notification is received. It is difficult to quickly read the preview of scrolling message/mail in the small screen (1.7”). You can choose the notifications for the apps you want to get it but not all third-party apps are supported. By default, the notification is turned off and you need to open the health mate app and go to settings, to turn the notification on and select the apps you wish to get notified. Overall, this is a traditional looking luxury dive watch that is designed to track and improve overall health. If you are tired of smartwatches that requires every day charging and are looking for a watch that will withstand and deliver smart functionality with traditional looks and health trackers like ECG, SpO2, respiratory scanner, sleep tracker, 30 different sports and to track daily fitness levels then this watch will not disappoint you.

_____ *Pros: -Good-looking & classy design. -Weighs less than it looks. -The silicone bands are soft, light, and very comfortable, even when sleeping with the watch. -The crown rotates smoothly and is very responsive. -Super-long battery life. -The Health Mate companion app has great layout and easy to navigate. -Sleep cycle detection is highly accurate and informative. -The Withings weekly activity report emails are appreciated. _____ *Neutral: -The quick-snap movement of the wrist to turn on the display doesn’t always work. -Once in a while, the hands move by itself and show the incorrect time. _____ *Cons: -Cycling workout accuracy is bad. The Withings ScanWatch is my first hybrid and health-oriented smartwatch and it’s been a very enlightening and delightful experience. My three previous smartwatches (one from Fossil and two from Samsung) are all regular smartwatches and my transition to the ScanWatch, to my pleasant surprise, wasn’t as annoying or painful as expected. I did lose a lot of screen surface area and the ability to view photos and dictate short text messages, but I think the trade-off was totally worth it as the ScanWatch offers many health-oriented goodies and insights. My first reaction to the ScanWatch was how good-looking and solid it looked and felt. It looks like an upscale premium watch, and I love the colors and design. Both the build quality and fit-and-finish are impeccable. The crown rotates so smoothly and predictably and when you press on the crown, you get a satisfying tactile experience. I expected the watch to be heavier than my Samsung Galaxy smartwatch but it was surprisingly lighter and less bulky-feeling on my thin wrist. I normally can’t sleep with a watch on me but I slept just fine with the ScanWatch. There were two different bands inside the box, and I like the green silicone one way better because it’s lighter, gentler on my skin, and super comfortable for all-day wear, even during sleep. When I first connected the watch to the companion phone app – Health Mate – the watch was quickly detected, and a firmware update was initiated. The process was smooth and error-free. The layout of the app is clean, well-spaced out, and easy to navigate. The Dashboard section of the app contains all the information related to your well-being and activity levels, such as the number of workouts performed in a week, the number of steps taken, average heart rate, oxygen saturation level, ECG evaluation, breathing abnormalities (if detected), and sleep detection. The Dashboard is very comprehensive, useful, and provides a great progress report of how you’re faring health-wise. Another excellent feature of the ScanWatch is its uber-long battery life. I absolutely LOVE not having to charge my watch either once a day or every other day. It’s so liberating. As I’m writing this review, I have worn the watch every day since charging it to 100% last week and I’ve only lost 2% of the battery after 7 days. Not all was perfect with the ScanWatch, however. It didn’t happen frequently enough to be a game-changer but occasionally, the watch’s hands rotated by itself and showed the incorrect time. When that happened, I had to press on the crown to view the correct time in its digital format or take out my smartphone. Hopefully, Withings will release a firmware update that corrects this. A bigger issue for me was how inaccurate cycling detection was. The ScanWatch was very off when it came to detecting several cycling metrics, such as miles ridden, average and max speed, and elevation level. I compared the data from the watch to my trusted bike apps – Urban Bike and Ride with GPS – and the ScanWatch consistently under-reported my speed and mileage. I hope Withings corrects this issue as soon as possible. With all the said, I’m still very happy and content with my ScanWatch. It’s stylish, comfortable, has a super-long battery life, and most importantly, it helps me to keep track of my health in various ways that my previous regular smartwatches cannot. As long as Withings pumps out regular bug fixes and firmware updates, I can see myself using this watch for a long time and trying out product sequels in the future.

I’m fully aware that a non-hybrid smartwatch offers extreme potential in terms of the app store and cellular ability to be used independently. However, a hybrid style like this Withings ScanWatch is a great choice when it comes to design and health and fitness-focused features. It features a resistance of a 10ATM which enables this watch to hold out pressures equivalent to a depth of 328ft/100 meters of water, rain, and swimming. It sets foot in the smartwatch market, particularly in preserving the tradition of timepieces while providing high-quality and essential health monitors. The design is gorgeous that does not overlook or compromise the classic best-looking taste with stainless steel that gives it a luxurious tier. The screen is made of sapphire glass and a movable bezel that also acts as an electrode. The dial and analog arms emit nice light so the time can be seen in dark areas. The dial is designated to provide activity progress while the top middle display is where the health and fitness-focused apps can be selected by rotating and pressing the digital crown. In addition, the display shows notifications from the app that I only selected. I just wish there is an ability to check the recent and old notifications through the watch as notifications get pushed once only!!. Health and fitness apps are ECG, heart rate monitor, oxygen saturation, and physical activities as well as sleep tracking. Setup is straightforward through the Withings app "Health Mate" on IOS and Android devices. A Withings account is required to complete the setup but in my case, I did not need to because I already have Withings smart products that I have been using for years and the account is up and running. Charging was fast and the watch reached 100% while I was lengthening the link band. The battery as Withings claims can last for 30 days and honestly, I can say after 4 days of wearing it all day long the battery is still 100%. To monitor ECG or heart rate I simply select the function and cover the far right side of the display when making sure my palm is covering the bezel. 30 seconds begin to countdown and data transfers to the Health Mate companion app. I noticed the ECG takes a couple of minutes to show on the app report due to review approval requirements. After 4 minutes the reading result was up and it can be shared with my doctor. I'm a technology-oriented person and like to utilize a smartwatch that offers support to all apps but this watch changed the way I look. I like werning it for its design and the simplicity to monitor health and fitness. This timepiece showcases elegance, quality, and simplicity, maintaining high awareness of essential health and activity monitoring, and an easy way to change between stainless steel and silicone bands. This watch is designed to offer simple but essential use which I liked especially when I wear dress clothes. What is included in the box: The ScanWatch Horizon 44mm watch and wireless charging puck, stainless steel and silicone bands, an extra link to adjust the length of the band, and a sizing kit including a pin punch, hammer, and band block.

So I just received my new Withings ScanWatch Horizon watch about a week ago and have been putting it through it's paces. Upon opening the package, you're immediately greeted with one of the most stunningly crafted and designed watches. The watch comes with the metal link wristband preinstalled. Also included in the package is a an additional 3 smaller links to add to the metal wristband, a fluoroelastomer wristband, pin punch, hammer, holder, and charging cable along with the instruction manual. Following along with instruction manual, I downloaded the watch's companion app "Health Mate" from the iOS App Store. The app is also available on the Google Play Store and is compatible with both Apple Health and Google Fit. Once you have the app installed, the app will guide you through the rest of the quick and easy setup process. Right out the box the watch was a tad too small for the hand to fit through the metal wristband. So I added the additional 3 links to the watch, to which then made the band to big and loose for my wrist. So I had to remove 2 of the links and was able to find the perfect fit for my hand to easily fit through the wristband and for it to be comfortably snug on my wrist as stated in the manual. Initially when I began wearing the watch it felt comfortable. However, as I continued wearing the watch for an extended period of time, it felt as though the edge of the watch near the side button (which also rotates), seemed a bit sharp as the edge of the watch somewhat rubbed against my wrist whenever I had to bend my wrist. I would have liked those edges to have been polished a bit more and smoothed out some. Also the wristband just felt weird on my wrist as I'm more used to wearing the more plastic/rubber styled bands on my wrist. Thankfully, Withings included a plastic wristband that I was able to swap out and it felt a bit more natural at that point and allowed me to enjoy the rest of the watch's features. The ring around the outer part of the watch face rotates counterclockwise, not sure as to why this may be helpful to some but it does rotate in only one direction. On the inside of the watch, are 2 smaller displays: one being the display screen that shows the menu and what you're selecting, and the other is the activity dial. Pressing the side button illuminates the digital time as well as the day and date on the display at top. If you press and rotate the side button the watch displays the following: * BPM: Heart Rate. * Steps: Tracks number of steps you've taken. * Miles: Tracks number of miles you've walked. * Floors: Tracks floors you go up or down. * ECG: Electrocardiogram - check electrical activity of your heart. * Sp02: Checks for oxygen level in your blood. * Workout: Running, Swimming Cycling, Walking, and other. * Breathe: Breathe and Relax. * Clock: Alarms, Stopwatch, and Timer. * Settings: Allows you to change settings to your liking. Other features also include tracking how well you sleep at night through the app. What's good about this is that it also syncs everything to Apple Health for your iPhone or Google Fit for your Android device. You will also be able to get notifications on the watch when receiving, texts, phone calls, or emails. You can set it to what notifications you receive or turn them off through the app. I have so far really enjoyed my time wearing this watch on a daily basis. I recommend this watch to anyone looking for a nice stylish and sophisticated watch that allows you to look good but also track your activity level throughout the day.

Good looking or at least classically good looking 'smart' watches are not common. A good weight, a firm comfortable fit, and elegant styling along with connectivity and biometric scans... even harder to come by. This watch exceeded my expectations. The packaging included tools and a jig for band repair as well as extension links and a spare band. Full and simple instructions for use were included and the ap for data review and acquisition "Health Mate" was easy to install and much easier to navigate than similar which I have used. Battery life is as advertised so far - 17 days in and still 40% of charge. I used the ECG, SPO, sleep quality, step count, heartrate monitor, etc. multiple time in the past two weeks and again, was had a very positive experience. The instructions were clear, the tests were short and compare exceptionally to medical equivalents I have had. It may be a small thing, but I really appreciated that you can scroll though the menu and it takes you back to the beginning again, rather than requiring reverse scroll. Also, a single button to access everything. Not 4 buttons to remember how to use, just one. Genius. In testing the sleep monitoring, I obviously had to wear the watch overnight - it was so comfortable, I honestly forgot it was there. For the weight and obvious quality, it still manages to fit like a much lighter and less expensively built time piece. It slides nicely under the sleeve cuff, and the option to use the hands or just go digital is nice. Also a great feature that the hands will move to a default position so as not to obscure the digital read out when you are using that. When you are done in the menu, the hands return to proper time. Cleaning and maintenance, thus far, have been simple and easy. The sapphire glass face is very nice, especially since I wear this all the time now and work in a variety of conditions. Swapping bands was super easy, the bands have built in 'knobs' or 'toggles' to allow you to easily slide the band axle out to make the swap. I can go on, but you won't know what this watch is really like until you wear one. This is the best electronic accessory I have brought home in years.

A Beautiful Balance of Function, Fashion, & Value

Withings has done quite an impressive job at creating a functional fitness tracker that effortlessly simulates the classic look of an analog timepiece. Though the finishing on the aluminum case and bracelet are basic, the overall look is striking - putting nearly all other smart watches to shame. The applied indices and skeletonized hands pair beautifully with the sunburst dial earning the Scanwatch Horizon a place inside my watchbox next to more traditional (and pricey) watches. Withings has a history in medical health monitoring and it shows. Tracking heart rate, blood oxygen levels, taking EKGs, or simply tracking workouts is made simple and is accurate. The digital display blends in nicely at the 12:00 position and while it is small, the screen is adequate for the intended purpose. The digital crown is not used to adjust the time, but instead doubles as a button and a scroll wheel. Thankfully the case is equipped with crown guards as the button protrudes outwards and would otherwise easily become snagged on sleeves, purses, and pockets. While the watch appears to have chronograph functionality on the dial, the 6:00 complication is actually an analog representation of how many steps have been traveled. The watch is equipped with a timer and a stopwatch, but both are accessed using the crown and viewed on the digital display. Nearly all functions of the watch and fitness tracker are refreshingly easy to use. One downside, however, is that the bracelet has a cheap clasp with no micro adjust. This means that the fit is not always perfect causing the need to hold the watch in place while health measurements are being taken. My biggest frustration with the watch is that it occasionally reminds me of upcoming alarms - which is an odd feature for a device meant to improve sleep quality. I don’t want to be woken up by my watch asking, “Do you want to turn off your alarm 30 minutes early?” NO! I want to sleep until my alarm is actually set to go off! Strangely this annoyance does not occur consistently and I have not figured out how to turn it off. Overall, I continue to be highly impressed both by how well the watch works, and how beautiful it looks. Withings has reached an appropriate balance of function, fashion, and value. Not only does this Smartwatch look better than nearly all of the competition, but it is easy to use, it works well, the battery lasts 2 weeks (with real world use), and the 5 year warranty proves that it is designed to last. The reason that I give the watch 4 out of 5 stars is because the lume is disappointing, the bezel is misaligned, the case does not have drilled lugs, the bracelet feels cheap, the clasp has no micro adjust settings, and I can't stand that the watch will wake me up 30 minutes before my morning alarm.

This is without question the best smartwatch I have ever owned. And I have to say, I've had plenty :-) I've owned everything from basic fitness trackers to high-end do it all watches. This being a hybrid, really strikes the perfect balance. First, it is incredibly well made. This is built to last a long time and has excellent water resistance. It not only comes with the metal band, but also a simple rubber style band if that is more to your liking. I was really impressed with the included tools for changing out the watch bands. Very nice touch! As for functions, it has everything you would expect. Notifications (text, social media, health, email, ect..) and no shortage of health tracking options. The ECG is very handy. BPM and oxygen saturation levels work very well. Of course you have fitness tracking as well including what seems to be to be a very accurate step counter. I'm also impressed with the sleep tracking. But above all else, there are two main things that put this watch above all the rest: battery life & the phone app. Battery life is the best I have ever seen. Eight days after fully charging it, I am still at 56%. That is insane! Never have I had a watch that could go more than two days on a full charge. A large part of this amazing battery life is due tot he hybrid form factor. As for the app, it is probably the easiest to understand and work with that I have ever used. Don't underestimate this. If the app isn't any good, you are not likely to get the most out of your smartwatch. I should also mention the great connectivity. Every other smartwatch I have used will disconnect from the phone from time to time. Usually it would be a case of the watch not re-connecting after being away from the phone. I can honestly say this hasn't happened even one time with the Withings Scanwatch Horizon. Not to mention it works perfectly with everything I want to receive notifications from. There are a ton of smartwatches on the market, but I can't imagine any that are better.

Review of Withings Scanwatch Horizon The Withings Scanwatch Horizon (with Scan Monitor) at first look and feel alike high priced watch. Previous to going in details, the following review is as Non Expert on medical and non health professional, and some point of view is as user of Garmin watch against which some of feature and user experience have been compared. As having it on hand and setting it up, it is not heavy nor light as some of similar design of watch would. About right in my opinion, and it does look well made watch made 316 stainless steel case, flat sapphire glass, and added rotating bezel and as date of review comes in two colors, Green and Blue. Then it comes with two bands, Oyster Metal and Fluoroelastomer Sport band, and it is included the accessories to shorten or enlarge the metal band. Also it is water resistant to 100m. It connect to the application Health Mate via bluetooth version 5.1, supported on iOS and Android. On heath features, it focus on capturing Electrocardiogram (ECG) for Atrial Fibrillation, Pulse Oximetry for Oxygen Saturation (SpO2), Heart Rate, and track physical activities with the sensors underneath of the watch, and this include for purpose of sleep tracking as well. Then on the face of the watch, it is practically traditional watch with small screen for the interaction with the users that is discrete design. During the initiation of setting, it has guided process among which for ECG and SpO2 require to measure for first time. Specifically for ECG, upon measured, it provide instruction to wait 24h within which it is approved by healthcare professional for users in US. It is not clear from manual where the professional and what institution review the recording, but it does comes back within the referenced time frame at least for my case. For instance, I think the setting was completed during afternoon, and around 10 morning next day I received the notification and update ion the application of approval. Measuring or recording ECG and SpO2, from the watch in respective mode takes 30 seconds. And via application, user can instruct if the watch is being used on left or right hand. On sport activities, the watch and its Health Mate provide 39 type of sports to track + 1 Other for non listed sport name which label cannot be customized. The design of hardware and how the data interact providing user friendly information are quite nicely put together but the user experience on the smart side of the watch require some get used to and even getting used some practical aspects feels to come short. Going in detail of user experience of the smart side of the watch, to perform the ECG and SpO2 measurements, it is simple if it is used once a while. It require to scroll with Digital Crown which allow to select the option and follow the minimized instruction on the screen. After couple of time become ease to remember. With the same Digital Crown, can select view of status of Heart Rate, and what sport activity about to start. On this, upon selection of the sport, it become bit non practical the way to set Start, Pause and Stop. This is because user needs push the Digital Crown for each message shown on the display. For instanced to start running, afterward selection of the type of sport, it display message of adjust the band according and the count has already started while I had expected second screen showing start. Then to stop, need to press again the Digital Crown, then to stop press again and scroll while looking at the screen. It is this aspect that become non practical. On the other hand from the setting doesn’t give option to automatically pause or stop if the body stop performing the selected sport. Then apply same flow for Swimming for instance. Now, as per the materials included with the watch, it mention it include GPS for precise insight. Based on the short usage experience for running and swimming and wearing while working, the data displayed in the application doesn’t provide any location information or any related data to GPS unless I have missed additional view in between. For instance, for running activity, among recorded information doesn’t provide any map related information. Based on this, I have to assume the GPS has different purpose that I am not able to visualize. But Withings provide only Duration, Distance, min/miles, kcal, and Average BPM. Now how precise it is can’t definitely tell, but from my test, wearing the Scanwatch on my left and Garmin watch on my right and waring the heart monitor, running time of 1:08 minutes for distance of 8 miles, , the scan watch shows 151 bpm and how much of it consisted of Peak, Intense, Moderate and Light; whereas Garmin detected 146 bpm as average. On calories consumed, 797 kcal and 733 respectively just to mention comparable data reference that are common among both platforms. About sleep tracking, it feels about right the time captured by the watch automatically. Didn’t miss the measured sleeping time. In reference to the battery, the brand material says it last up 30 days of battery life + 20 more days in power reserve mode (time and activity tracking only according to the manual. However from two days of usage, after a night of sleeping and previously performed ECG and SpO2 and only having used while working, next day morning the battery life was about 62% left from 95% had previous day when started to use. And during the day, having performed twice ECG measurement, having run bit more than 8 miles, walking around, swimming half hours in the pool, as approaching to night time the remaining battery life is 36%. Although it need more time to validate, from the short time usage it feels some doubt on its duration. To finish, the fact that the activity tracking is not automatically started for most commons sport given the design for smart side of the watch, and the application provide limited data points for deeper insights, the Scanwatch Horizon is appealing luxurious watch for users looking for very simplified process that automatically all is handled by Withings and still have access to intuitive data points format he application and website. Feels more toward user that require and need to focus mostly on ECG and SpO2 with good sensor and reliable for medical data reference and process to support it, and which supplement with features for daily lifestyle and still have a luxurious looking watch aesthetically. Hence, if it is for purpose of medical need with reliable data on ECG and SpO2 and little of everything else, looks nice watch to have. As side observation, the shortcoming is in summary on the user experience and probably battery life. What I wish it would include as incremental enhancements are: 1. Be able to synchronize via wifi. As is need to be connected via bluetooth upon opening the application hence it is not real time. 2. The start/stop activity process. 3. Wireless charging 4. Not sure if is in the scope of target of design intent, but wish there are some more in deep data references. 5. Withings only support very short list of third application, and understandably has to to do with business purpose, but wish it can sync data that doesn't handle by itself directly with other brands without having to rely on for instance Apple Health.

I have owned a few smartwatches, but some of them have features I have no interest in, and some don't look as professional as I would like. I was eager to try a smartwatch that is able to track vital health measures while also looking like a classic watch, versus something with a more athletic look. I have used a smartwatch by Samsung and unfortunately it often had only enough battery life for about a day and a half. Even though it has enough apps that I can leave my phone behind, I find that I never actually do and I instead use the watch to alert me of a call or message. However, this is where this new watch shines - it has no unnecessary apps and thus I don't have to charge it for 30 days. The app is a great complement to this watch. It allows you to monitor health features and even add additional items to monitor other factors. The best feature that this watch provides over all other smartwatches, including the Apple Watch series 7, is the 30 days of battery life. The only con with this watch is the small information window. It could be a little larger, but that is a minor complaint compared to all that this watch offers. Cons Small information screen Pros Long life battery Accurate heart rate/ECG monitor Stylish look I would highly recommend this watch to anyone who is looking for a stylish watch with almost all the features of a smartwatch. The watch is well made and informative, and the sleep monitoring function is actually useful due to the long battery life.

I love my new ScanWatch 44mm Horizon. Simple, yet elegant and informative. I love the ability to check on bpm, oxygen, steps, ECG, spo2, and so much more. The sleep tracker is also a very handy tool to have to check for sleep disturbances and keep you informed. Another major plus is the fact that the ScanWatch 44mm Horizon watch comes with extra links, a sports band, and all of the tools necessary to make needed adjustments! I love it! The app is great and very easy to manage. You connect to your watch via the app, and the step-by-step app guide is extremely easy to follow. Band adjustments are easy to make with the included tools. I was able to make adjustments to the links in around five minutes. You get the hammer, pin removal tool, and a holding block for the band. Coming from an Apple Watch and to the ScanWatch 44mm Horizon, I have been wearing the ScanWatch 44mm Horizon much more often than the Apple Watch. It goes great with business attire, and when out and about, you change the wrist bands. I would definitely recommend the ScanWatch 44mm Horizon watch to anyone.

The Withings Scanwatch Horizon is the perfect blend of beautiful traditional analog watch styling with health monitoring and limited smart capabilities. Let’s be clear, this is not a direct competitor to the Fruit Watch—there are numerous pros/cons— but for many, the pros far outweigh the cons. Let’s start with the positives: + the Withings ScanWatch Horizon is styled by French designers as a Diver Watch and the result is stunning. The Watch looks like it is a premium luxury item and the styling and machining of the Watch, especially the wedges on the bezel are stunning. +Unlike the Fruit Watch, this ScanWatch looks great with the metal bracelet with a suit for formal occasions. It’s not as easy to remove and replace the Watch band but it looks better and the silicone band that is included is also very slick looking. +Battery life compared to the Fruit Watch is simply incomparable. I would get about 30 hours on my Fruit Watch; after 3 days on my Withings ScanWatch I am still at 89% which will come out on to about 20 days, not as high as the 30 days Withings says is the max, but still amazing!!! I can charge it once a few weeks instead of nightly. This is important because of the overnight health and sleep tracking capabilities of this Watch. It’s basically a sleep study replacement for anyone with sleep Apnea concerns. +The Watch hardware is super high quality and I don’t accidentally hit the crown like I did with the Fruit Watch. The App integration is also excellent. When you hit the crown, the arms love to 10:10 so you can clearly see the LED readout. Text and notifications will scroll across the LCD display on the face of the Watch. You can change which notifications are sent to your Watch which will also impact your battery life. + I didn’t need to adjust the metal bracelet links, but the hardware and frame they provided is top notch and not cheap to buy. +This is a much more advanced medical advice that is working towards regulatory clearance for all your major health readouts. ScanWatch is already way ahead of what the Fruit company is trying to accomplish, like EKG, blood pressure, pulse oximeter etc. it’s a great health monitoring device! Cons: -Not really a con but needs to be said, this is not a smart watch, it’s a great looking watch with health monitoring capabilities with limited smart capabilities. This is great for people who still need to dress up and don’t want the distraction of the fruit Watch. -The feature to display the screen by turning your wrist is not nearly as accurate/responsive as the Fruit Watch. -As mentioned the system of swapping wristbands is not as clean as Fruit co and will definitely mess up your manicure. -the haptic feedback/rumble is not as good ad the Fruit Watch. -No Cellular option, no Siri, no app control like Fruit Watch. I didn’t use or care about most of these, although I did use Siri a decent amount. All that said, I love this watch. I’ve been wearing it everyday and swapped to the silicone band. I don’t miss the extra distractions from the Fruit app and I definitely love the health indicators and battery life of this ScanWatch.

Perfect balance of watch and smart

OK, I am a smart watch fan, but not a enthusiast. The enthusiast days left with the Moto 360 Gen 1 with a flat tire. As much as I loved the idea of changing my watch face as I wanted. I found myself finding one that worked for me and I never changed it again unless I was bored. Now to the Withings Scanwatch Horizon. I have the green face model, really it is such a dark green it could be called black or gun metal. Even the alternate band is a dark green almost black dark gray. This is far from a complaint, I really like the look and color. It is not so black that it seems flat, at angles you can catch the green tint to it. If you did not know better, you would not look at this and think smart watch. It is a beautiful looking watch none the less. Initial setup is very easy, the Withings app seemed very intuitive and well designed. It connected to my Android device without a hiccup. The cool factor came when setting the time to my phone, the hands went to 12:00 and moved to the correct time with the push of a button in the app. It actually felt a little eerie to watch (hehe) it happen. There is a setting to move the hands when a alert is being displayed. The hands will go to 10 and 2 to show the display. I was concerned the display would be too small to see or read anything easily. Surprisingly the display actually does a better job showing the info than my full screen smart watch. Withings did a great job with the sizing and the brightness of the display. You can see it outside with no issue. Now to the real smarts. The display is controlled by the crown (little knob on the side). press in to bring up the menu and rotate it to navigate. Press again to make the selection. You can set a long press to open any one item in the menu. Mine is set for workout. There is a SPO2 and ECG on the back of the watch that can be navigated through the menu. It will ask you to place you other hand on the side of the watch to activate the sensors and give pressure enough to do an accurate measurement. The ECG is a single node ECG, this will give you some really basic and good info, not a medical grade 12 node but it will detect what is needed. This is not an alternative to an actual ECG in a hospital, but could give you an idea you might want to get one done. The SPO2 is great to see that you are getting the oxygen you need, it also monitors you overnight while sleeping and can detect breathing issues while sleeping. The App gives you some recommendations as it learns more about your patterns. The app will sync with Google Fit and Apples whatever they call it. I was able to bring in all my stats from my other watch to track in app and in Fit. There is also a GPS assisted which will track your exercise session a little more accurately, especially cycling, Another bonus for the app, you can select what apps send messages to the watch face. If you want to know when something special is happening in an app you are addicted to, you can get those alerts. Battery life has been very good. In a week I uses about 1/4 of the battery. I was at 72% and that was playing with it a lot for the first week to get use to it. It says it will last 30 days and up to 45 with battery saver one. I simply have started charging while I am in the shower about once a week just to top the battery off while I am not wearing it. A few added touches I did not expect. There was a "alternate" band in the box. It feels like leather at first but eventually you will realize it is actually a FKM wristband (FKM is the best possible type of rubber on the market, I Googled it). There is also a metal link wristband already attached to the watch. Impressively there are additional links and tools to add or remove the links. This is the one place I want to give a drawback to this watch, only because I am a BIG guy. The default size was small, very small, for the metal link band. I ended up adding two links to get a proper fit. HOWEVER, having the tools and instructions on how to add and remove links, I was able to do this in a matter of a minute or two. Very easy. Jewelers have a great racket going on resizing watches. Overall, if you are on the fence on getting this watch. Hop off and get that card out of the wallet. You will not regret the purchase. While this isn't overdone like some smart watches that try to do everything, it does everything you need it to do and does it really well. And most importantly it looks good while doing it and does not look like you have a rectangle screen strapped to your arm. I like that it is smart without being a small phone on my wrist.

The first thing must be said; Withings Scanwatch Horizon is just pure elegance on the wrist. it's simply downright beautiful but also is clinically validated which attaches itself to the host of smart health features! Horizon Scanwatch construction around it doesn't feel like a cheap watch at all; This thing is well built and most likely will keep up with your lifestyle. The brushed silver aluminum just looks phenomenally gorgeous. Silver trim wrapped around the dial with a sapphire glass covering. There is a rotatable bezel that you can only turn left. A smartwatch that looks this good, you don’t see to often and I wanted to highlight that in the most positive way possible. They give you two bands inside 1) a metal brushed band and 2) a Sports band that matches the color of your watch. Both of comfortable and well appreciated as you can switch accordingly to your atmosphere. There are also tools that you can use inside the box that can adjust the metal band. Setting up the watch was extremely easy once you download the app because it walks you through the process. Once on the small screen is nice and bright allowing you to see time and get through menus. You navigate the menu by using the crown on the watch. Here you can do things like track your BPM, steps, miles you walked, floors you traveled, SPO2, ECG, workout tracking, settings, and breathing. There are many here and to test ECG you place your other hand over the watch face to measure. ECG can measure your heart rate and keeps track of it daily, weekly, and monthly. So this to me alone is a useful smart feature. Even lets me know if things are normal with the sinus rhythm. Battery life is perfect as I haven’t even charged up the device since I owned it and it’s been about a week. So I have no problems at all with battery life on the watch. I also like that the scanwatch horizon can show you notifications on certain apps if you use an iPhone. The notification isn’t jarring on the wrist giving “buzz buzz” so you’ll know if a notification comes in instantly. Get mail and messages regularly and didn’t find it annoying; feeling comparable to an Apple Watch notification feel. The watch is water-resistant to the point where I have no concerns if I’m washing my hands or anything like that. I wouldn’t go deep diving with the watch it’s good up to 100m. The app is the meat of the watch because here is where you can gather information on your Health with the watch. Many of its smart features Reside here. Like for example the workout and keep track of the routes that you do around the neighborhood. You can really keep track of your heart rate day and night. If you don’t have your phone with you and you use the watch it holds all the data until you get near your smartphone again. Withings Health Mate is really a good app as well with no hiccups or problems on my end. I love this smartwatch honestly; definitely, a head-turner but also stays classic to the look of watches. if you’re out and enjoying a day with friends they will love it. They enjoyed the look of this watch and the features it’s designed to use. Right out the box, it’s a great experience many products don’t do right. I do have to hand it to Withings for making an incredible smartwatch.

More than I bargained for. #1 fav feature, ECG. The first time you activate the ECG feature the App sends a message to a doctor affiliated with Scan Watch. Once the ECG is reviewed, a text/email is sent to the telephone #/email provided to them. After the ECG has been verified by the doc, it is then ready as your baseline to continue using that feature. The ECG will count down from 30secs, in which time you are to sit still with your arm resting and no talking. Your free hand, will go over the watch as shown in the pamphlet provided in the box and you will apply pressure and hold there until the countdown of 30 secs finishes. The ECG will read Normal green check if it’s in fact a normal reading, otherwise it could read Afib which means Atrial Fibrillation, which would prompt a call to your medical doc. The doctors affiliated are available for you to call to help with the readings, for free. You may also get an inconclusive reading if the user didn’t follow the instructions on how to…. The watch must be worn 1 finger width from the wrist bone. The watch has so many features that are so useful for those who love to exercise, keep track of steps, floors you’ve gone up, cycling, swimming, jogging, calories burned, and even tracks any breathing issues that may arise while sleeping. All the information gets sent to the App on your phone and is shown in different formats. I love the graph feature which allows for a quick view of increase/decrease of heart rate and more. In addition to the graph provided, other pertinent info needed to make decisions for your next run/cycling, etc., is also provided. DO NOT try to adjust the time using the turn dial… it will automatically adjust once you download the App and set your language, time zone etc. There’s the option to short push/long push the side button depending on what you are trying to accomplish. First time around it was a bit confusing but just keep following the guide/tutorial that pops up on your screen while you set up the different variables of categories. A short push will allow for the watch to turn on and then you can turn the dial to move to an exercise feature…. Once you locate the exercise feature you need to push in lightly and then turn the dial again to scroll through the different exercises…. Then push again and the timer begins to keep track. You can manage settings using the side button and it will communicate with you phone App and you can change functions of the way the watch works. Ie, you can set the watch to light up the digital time/date when moving the watch or set to the side button option instead. Again, long push will have a different function than a short push, so you should practice both so you gain muscle memory and don’t fumble when you need to take your ECG, and Oxygenation saturation rate, aka your oxygen levels. The O2 = Oxygenation saturation level option works like the ECG in that you Short push the side button and then turn the dial to O2 and then another short push will activate the countdown of 30 sec. The watch will scroll the words, place your hand on the watch, again see tutorial/booklet, and once the countdown is done it will vibrate alerting the user to release their hand and a reading will be provided. The watch came in a sturdy box with a tool kit to allow for sizing and interchanging the band from the metal one to the blue rubber like band. The watch also features a GPS feature which I chose to keep turned off, for now. The watch keeps you informed occasionally with notifications but so far it’s not been intrusive nor too much. The only two cons and I use those words lightly, are the heaviness of the watch for my thin wrist and the position on the arm the watch should stay in. It’s a matter of getting used to Im sure, like anything else that’s new. Overall, excellent watch, plan to use it a lot, and hopes it helps bring more self-awareness to my daily routines. That said, I just remembered that if you sit around for too long, the watch will gently vibrate to let you know it’s time to move about.

I desperately want to love this watch. I own many high end from the Android Wear OS ecosystem and Big name regular watches. Having the style of a premium dive watch and the ability to monitor my heart and other vital body stats seemed like the dream smartwatch for my health was here. The Withings Horizon comes beautifully boxed with spare band and a nice tool set to easily add or remove links for the stainless watch band. So while I want to love this watch. After a week of fairly thorough use, I am only in like with the current state of this watch. I will continue using the watch and hope updates improve my usage. Below, I'll tell you about my week with the watch so far. If it matters to others for comparison. I'm an almost 50 year old male with a medium build (dad bod just under 6') and wear the watch on my left wrist (you should tell the app which arm in settings). Once you get the watch snug on the wrist and "opt in" to the MANY legal agreements in the Health Mate app and perform the first ECG to get approval to do further ECG's (takes a day after first scan to unlock and may vary by State or Country). I found some of my scan results might be a little off, but if you are not in a medical setting or comparing results with other devices known to be accurate, you won't know how far off they are. Heart beat and steps seem to be within the margin of error. ECG works most of the time and seems similar to results I get from a different FDA approved device. SpO2 barely ever works for me unless I rotate watch to inner wrist and do the partial hand cover in that location. And when it does show info other than "inconclusive". Results numbers are always "low". Luckily I was tested during a recent doctor visit and their equipment showed I was normal at that time (blood pressure and oxygen levels, assuming doctors equipment is accurate). I also think sleep might be off too. I woke up several times for vibration alerts, and did not see this on the app reports. Then there is the "Floors" stat. I read the write up on Withings.com. Still not sure if it even works. I often seem to be on the 8th and 11th floors just walking around my fairly flat property. Maybe its my location above sea level or something? I will still need more time for "workout" to know its accuracy. Other shortcomings for me. The watch only has vibrate. It is a decent vibration to grab your attention for notifications from calls, email, texts, and motivational alerts. Sadly, vibrate is not always enough for "wake up" alarms or timers after your body learns to ignore it while sleeping. I thought this watch would and least have a chime or beep noise option for the alarm like even cheap watches have (sorry if I did not find alarms tone option, I did not see one). And for the first few nights sleep. The watch continually did vibrate enough to wake me for various notifications from my phone despite my phone being dead silent in Do Not Disturb mode from 11pm till 7am weekly. For some reason my security cam alerts are silent on phone, but the watch still alerts despite Do Not Disturb is on. I sleep through it now, others might lose sleep over this or have to choose not to be alerted by certain apps. There is a function on watch to silence alerts manually, but you will also need to remember to turn it on/off each time. To sum up my time with this watch. It is all aces for the style, build and premium features you expect at this price range for a watch plus the ability for health monitoring. And with most of the sensors running full time and tilt to wake for the screen, a week of battery life is very respectable for all it is monitoring (29% left after 7 days). I can not be sure if the watch is faulty, inaccurate or my biology is not perfect for how it reads vitals. I did reset the watch once to see if that helped. I am just not sure this watch is accurate enough to fully rely on it alone to alert me of serious health issues it claims to detect in its current state. Hopefully others have better success. The watch is great looking and maybe it does get better the more it monitors my health. If you see I rated 3 stars. Its really 3.5 out of 5. Definitely worth trying yourself.

Love this watch, it's amazing in style and performance. Great for any occasion. I love being able to swap watch bands to the fancy metal one and back to silicone for sleep or exercise. You can also use any 22mm wrist band you can find online if desired. The sapphire screen adds peace of mind as it will be hard to scratch. I have a few scuffs on the steel body as it is much softer than the glass but that is to be expected. The only reason I took a star away is that there is no onboard GPS so you will need your phone with you for running or biking. On the bright side, phone GPS is very accurate. The app syncs with the watch offline so if you have a job that takes you away from connectivity for extended periods or go for a multi day camp trip in the deep woods, fret not. Battery life is amazing. The first week I would drain down to 50% by end of the week but now I go a few days and stay at 100% relatively easy. It is a little smaller and lighter than a Garmin Fenix series but still a bit bulky due to high quality materials.
