One of the greatest albums I've ever heard

Wolfmother is rock at its classic-modern best in this amazing album by the Australian rock band. Their debut and self-titled record is big and great and certainly makes a statement. It's been compared to other classic rock bands of the 1970's. It is just one of the best albums I've ever heard. Every song is magnificent and perfect in its creation. "Woman" certainly makes a splash as the single that brought them major hype but classics like "Joker & the Thief", "Colossal", and "Dimension" bring this album to its grandeur. It's also full of nifty little mood shifts and surprises like the incredible flute solo in "Witchcraft" and "Vagabond"'s good ol' guitar in the verses. It's a definite must have. No let down at all. I confided in them so much from this album that I bought their second release, Cosmic Egg, without listening to any songs. And that was also a wonderful decision.

Dead on rock album. Good for any one who appreciates the classic band Led Zeplin.

This band reminds me of led zeppelin and black sabbath with a touch of queen but not as good.

    Wolfmother: Bang for your Buck

The 2006 self-titled debut album Wolfmother was a welcome addition to the musical scene. Where other bands merely reflect the 70's, this band is an homage to its roots and those which have gone before. Imagine this: Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, and Rush had a baby. Wolfmother would be their child. Sprinkle in some DNA from Led Zeppelin, ELP, Yes, Thin Lizzy, Jethro Tull, The Who, Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper; Wolfmother suckles from the teat of the power pop/rock muscle bands of another musical era. As the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith still do boffo box office business and cd sales, Wolfmother opens the new generation up to the lasting possibilities of 70's rock to those who were not there when we were. The band's garage rock sound will make your speakers happy they got to hear this band, too. Lyrics with universal early-70's themes are common in every number. This band is very precise in its instrumentation and its sound. The band is tight, and we can hear it. Each song is a club staple and we can almost feel the sweat dripping from the pores of the band. The sound is so raw, so energetic, so furious at times it spills into this century like a welcome time capsule with a twist. If the only song you've heard from Wolfmother is its single Woman, the time is now to get back and party with a spirited, confident power trio. I've got a feeling their sophomore effort will not be a letdown. Meet Wolfmother, the future of the past.

Wolfmother has been compared to other great bands such as Led Zep and Black Sabbath. Their influence is relevent in their music and brings back retro playing styles to a generation that my not even know these bands. I haven't purchased a CD in a while, but this was worth it!
