    When does a series start to lose the elements that made it so appealing? For The X-Files, it might have been season eight. Some of the stories are just as good as ever, but the performances are often lacking. There are streaks of gold, but you've got to spend a lot of time panning for them.

    So Duchovny is only in about half the episodes for this season.. and they introduce the Doggett character to fill that void.. but he never really clicks. The series really loses momentum in this season, but it was still halfway decent.

    A bit disappointed in the quality of the blu-ray discs for this season. The dark scenes in many of the episodes had a muddy look and grainy appearance that was not in the previous seasons. Quality issues with production of the discs??
