After X-Men: the Last Stand it was nice to get back to what worked with X-Men, a great story told through the eyes of a handful of mutants. The problem with Wolverine Origins and X3 was the overuse of mutants - dozens of them with no speaking parts, just their powers on display. This one gives us a great version of Magneto that's a little easier to sympathize with than Ian M. And seeing Jame MacAvoy as the Professor was a treat - its strange seeing his hit on ladies at the bar, lol.

Great Rebound from The Last Stand

This movie was a great way to get the X-Men franchise on the right track after the 2 abysmal previous movies form the franchise, The Last Stand and Wolverine Origins. They did a very good job of establishing Magneto and Xavier's friendship.
The process of getting the Digital HD copy from Vudu was very simple. I'm glad a DVD copy was included so I can share the movie w/ friends who haven't transitioned to Blu-Ray yet.

X-tra A/V Quality Worth the Upgrade

It's fun to watch the X-Men movies and look for all the continuity "errors" (although some point out that Days of Future Past erases all the original trilogy and most of both Wolverine movies from the timeline) and First Class is no exception. It was fun to watch the story go back to the start of the X-Men (yes, including Emma Frost). The 4K upgrade is worthy although I'm still disappointed that no Atmos audio track was provided.

Great "prequel" for X-Men

I was pleasantly surprised with the story line and enjoyed seeing this "prequel" to X-Men and learning more about the personalities, issues and history of the characters. It was an interesting story line in the 60's and plot showing the development and dissolution of friendships and views toward mutants. Like all super hero movies, the acting can be improved in some parts (for some viewers), but overall a good movie.

The transfer quality was outstanding. The picture is crystal clear and the sound is not tinny or muddled.
The movie is the same, there are no extras that were not on the Blu-ray. However the picture quality for the price made me upgrade it.
I gave my old disc to a family member who is a fan.
Bottom line, worth the upgrade.

I wasn't too impressed by the trailer for this movie but had to see it anyway since it was an X-men movie. I was blown away by it...what an amazing prequel to the other movies in the franchise! It was great to see how Professor X, Magneto, and the rest came to be. The DVD is a must have for any fan of the franchise. It doesn't have much in terms of bonus features, but get it for the movie itself!

This is an X-Men reboot starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbener, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Kevin Bacon, and Jennifer Lawrence. It was a summer blockbuster from a few years ago and an easy addition to any movie lovers collection.
This version also comes with an ultraviolet copy that can be redeemed and streamed through various apps like Vudu, CinemaNow, and others.

X-Men Gets the UHD Treatment

I always wondered what these films would be like if Marvel had full control over them, but I'll take what I can get. "First Class" is kind of a mini reboot within the X-Men series, and it's great to have them in UHD. This isn't necessarily a reference UHD disc, but it's still an upgrade over the 1080p blu-ray. Film detail and colors are quite good and the 5.1 DTS mix still holds up, even though a 7.1 mix would've been really nice.

I'm a 50 year old that was reading Marvel comics in the 70s. It's great to see these comics made into such high quality movies using 21st cinematography, and great actors. X-men First Class is a prequel for the earlier 3 movies (X-Men, X-2, X-Men Last Stand), and does an excellent job of laying the ground for those movies, with a great plot setting -- the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Five stars! Kevin Bacon as Sebastain Shaw, was entralling
Im thankful we got to See a White Queen Emma Frost on screen.
Her parts are not so strong but good enough reason to buy this.
The 60's setting is refreshing I like how they where
part of the real current events and news.
Wolvie makes a small cameo, "so funny"
If you collect then get this one!

I'm not the biggest fan of the super-hero genre, but I do like the X-Men franchise. If you too are a fan, I recommend this film. It takes us back in time to the early days of these characters and explores their beginnings. Although I wanted to see more of the Patrick Stewart Doctor X (not going to happen in a film about these characters when they were young), I thought this was very well done and was entertained.

First and for most I think this movie was awesome and gives me hope for the next X-men movies to come. With that being said I kind of sad with some of the plot points like making Emma and Havoc really old by putting them in the 60 and making us believe the government knew about Mutants a long time ago. Still I have high hopes for the future and can't wait for the next ones.

Resurrects the X-Men Film Franchise

Coming off of X-Men the Last Stand and Wolverine Origins, things were not looking so good for the X-Men film franchise. But with a fresh take and a can't beat cast of all stars, this movie pumped new life into the life action X-Men stories and remains one of the best comic book films although not being accurate to the comics.

I really like the new series of X-Men movies. They are well done, and this is the one that relaunched it all. The only thing I don't like is the fact the digital copy is Vudu only. I didn't realize this when I got it (my fault, not theirs - I failed to verify on the packaging). I have all the other movies - including Days of Future Past - in iTunes, and wish I could have had the choice with this one like I did on the others.

X-men: First Class is the prequel to the X-men series. While it doesn't quite follow cannon from the movies \ comics, it was still a really well done romp through the late (60's?). The acting was great, story was engaging, and the effects were top notch.
There were some very mature situations, and profanity so keep that in mind when watching with the younger viewers.

Prequel movies often can't measure up to the films that inspired them, but this is not the case with First Class. Set against the backdrop of the Cuban Missile Crisis, the film introduces many of the mutant heroes fans have grown to love in the previous films. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are outstanding as the future Professor X and Magneto.

As my review summary says, it is another great X-men movie. I purchased this to complete my DVD series - this one is one BluRay
and now I find they are coming out with another one .. can't wait until it goes on DVD so I can buy that one as well. Love the X-men ever since they came to comics September 1963 - still have the first edition!

With the exception of a cameo by Hugh Jackman the recasting of new actors to play younger versions of the X-Men was terrific in this reboot of the series. As I said in and earlier review I thought this was the best of the three most recent films. Kevin Bacon as the villain is great. Michael Fassenber
and James McAvoy are amazing.

Interesting to see the beginnings of the X-men. A lot of people didn't like it, but I did. I haven't read all the comics, so if you're a hardcore comic enthusiast, you may have some complaints. Definitely not for younger children with the WWII scenes from Magneto's childhood and occasional rough language. The ending was a bit forced, but was otherwise a good weekend movie. Might even watch it again before I see Days of Future Past.
