I have this on wiiu disc but wanted to grab the switch version to replay again. Cleaner gfx, better framerates and overall, its the same game but more polished. If you play the original, this is the same game. If you enjoy other xenobladee, you most likely will enjoy this one as well

I played this game on the Wii U and I wasnt a kid when I played it then. Now all these years later I'm playing it on the switch. The graphics are improved and the game screen layout makes it much easier to play. This is an awesome game with many hours of fun game play.

Everything great about the other Xenoblade titles is here. The world is massive, and is great to explore… once you get a Skell. The world was clearly designed with the Skells in mind, and it makes getting through the first 30 hours a real slog since you’re forced to travel on foot.

Another fantastic Xenoblade game on Switch. Some of the best visuals on the console and one of the best designed open worlds ever. I’d say it’s a great swansong for the switch but goodness there’s a lot of stuff still coming to it.

A Welcome Addition to the Xenoblade Switch Library

I had the WiiU version when it first launched 10+ years ago, but for some reason found the controller interface a bit...'wonky'. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the WiiU, just not for this game. The Switch version is an absolutely essential addition to any gamers JRPG library, but the the caveat that it is definitely not something that a 'casual' gamer or some new to the action JRPG genre will find accessible. The battle scheme is not exactly the same as the other entries in the series, and some might find it more of an MMORPG in on-line mode. Contrary to some reviews I love the music, and the visuals are a HUGE improvement over the original. Nintendo did fans of the series right. Highly recommended.

Ever since my Wii U crashed and I wasn't able to fix it. I had been wanting to play this game. I was so happy when it was announced that it was coming to the Switch. The game plays better then I remember it. Very nice approvements to various quality of life features. The only thing I have an issue with is that it currently doesn't have amiibo support. I was able to get the pre-order bonus.

A "Single Player" MMO like Masterpiece

The ultimate sci-fi game on the switch filled with wonderful exploration, customization, characters, and story. A near endless amount of missions to do, secret "super" bosses to defeat, and gear to find/create. The music is also incredibly catchy(the vocal tracks especially) Theres also a multiplayer component that allows you to hire other player's characters for your party as well as being able to take on extra missions and even more extremely tough bosses for better rewards. Oh and I can't forget about the stellar art direction/graphics. This is one of the best looking switch games. The environments, skyboxes, and texture work is phenomenally done.
If you're a fan of Xenoblade Chronicles, jrpgs, or the sci-fi genre this is a must play game. It's my game of the year so far.

Though the MMOish elements of this game may not be for everyone, its soundtrack, beautiful world design, deep combat, and seamless exploration are truly in a league of their own. The sensation of Skell flight is truly wonderful.

I played this game on the WiiU when it originally came out, and game play wise it's pretty similar with some very nice upgrades to smooth things along in the early game.
I do miss the slightly more realistic approach that the original had for graphics but that's secondary to this just being a really solid exploration focused game

Phenomenal game. One of the best looking games on the Switch and one of the coolest open world games ever made by far. It’s not related in any story way to the trilogy, so you can absolutely start with this one

I would give this a one-star, not because the game is bad because it literally is a masterpiece in gaming interactive entertainment; it's just the fact that I too did not receive my pre-order bonus of the mini metal poster and stand as advertised which is false advertisement and false promotion! I did store pickup, I have an email stating I would have received this mini metal poster along with the stand if I pre-ordered and I even have the confirmation stating I would receive this pre-order bonus.. but upon picking up my order at the store the pre-order bonus was not included, which is false advertisement! For that reason I should give it a one-star because of the customer service and the false advertisement which I was continuing to look into, but I'm giving it a five-star because the game is literally of the upper echelon of video games! Please enjoy the game, and maybe don't do video game purchases with Best Buy.

This being in a more 'realistic' graphical setting than the other games are a great choice. it is humanity's last home and the game being set only 2 years after Earth blew up and only 2 months after the crash landing makes for a tense experience that you really do feel you are fighting a uphill battle to survive. Super high levele dmonsters u need to avoid in low level areas. This is clearly their planet and you are the invador that has to be cautious.
There are many classes to choose from as you progress, and the characters are a delight to experience. Including your own that you make!
I hope one day they make a full MMO of this game series. It can totally work in this gameplay style.

Great game, lots of stuff to do, nice size playing area, tons of missions and enemies to play through all ranging in difficulty, the only bad thing I can say about it is leveling up can be difficult sometimes, but all in all it’s a great game

Stuck on a Different Planet All Over Again

The planet Mira is the best open-world area I have ever played in a video game. It is a hostile alien planet and behaves like one. The affinity quests hold an eclectic cast of controllable characters and the dialogue in side quests is enjoyable with some wacky and surreal stuff happening. The QoL additions add to the combat and exploration, even if it doesn't completely help some of the game's issues. Still, like all of the Xenoblade games, I heavily recommend this title to anyone that loves JRPGs or just wants to get stuck on a different planet. I certainly glad I did it all over again.

Years ago, I bought and played the Wii U version of Xenoblade Chronicles X, which I still own. As much as I liked/like the original version of the game, I have to say that the Definitive Edition of the game for the Switch is way better than the original version of the game for the Wii U, in my opinion. Even though I'm still on Chapter 3 of the game as I like to grind in the game, I can see the improvements in this game in comparison to the original version, and because of that, I highly recommend this game to everyone, especially to the fans of the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise.

The graphics are by far the best you will see on the Switch. It is truly mindblowing how all this is processed by that tiny little tablet. Incredibly beautiful vistas where you can literally see miles and miles into the distance and sometimes some truly frantic action on screen. All this at a steady frame rate without skipping a beat.
The story is also top-notch, with tons of dialogue, some laugh out loud moments, and memorable characters.
Best of all is the gameplay. It is just solid, and as I said before, it asks a bit of commitment. It keeps on rewarding with new gameplay elements.

I played the original game on the Wii U and it was really good. Playing this version on the switch makes the experience even better with many quality of life improvements. This is not a part of the main xenoblade chronicles trilogy but this is a must buy if you enjoy any xenoblade chronicles game. The experience is better on the nintendo switch 2 having better frame rate and upscaled graphics.
