Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Da Vinci miniMaker 3D Printer's low filament warning feature. However, some customers have noted that the printer's filament is expensive and proprietary, costing significantly more than other brands. This high filament cost is a recurring concern among users. The need for a proprietary filament limits user choice and increases printing expenses.

While I have to be fair and say the printer itself is great for the price, the issues comes when you use up your starting filament. You have to use XYZs proprietary filament do to a nfc chip, unfortunately their filament is about double the cost of other good filaments on the market. There are hack work arounds out there but for the cost there are ones that can handle 3rd party filaments as well as have a heated bed. There is a $50 Open Tag adapter you can get that says it will allow you to use 3rd party filaments, but it is out of stock and after calling the company I was told they didn't know if or when it would be available again. The other issue I have is don't bother using their design software, there is much better free open source software out there. I will be returning mine... Sorry Best Buy!

The guide is not complete. How to download objects is confusing. It took me multiple times to get registered. To get the right software download I had to call support. They are helpful. I have not yet succeeded in setting up wifi to the printer. The chip is hidden in the spool. But it's not clear to me if wifi will work with this model. Frustrated but I am a novice with 3d printing.

The printer is definitely not as beginner as it says. The software it has you download is fine for small uncomplicated items. The filament that you have to use is ok but you are tied to using just the makers product. The build platform is not very good without some sort of cover. All in all it prints decent. I do think I would have shopped around more had I known the printing world better.

Printer easy to set up. Platen is a good size. One printer jam so far but was able to be cleared fairly easily. Filament is proprietary. So far, we have been satisfied. Son has printed several items so far. We would like to see more options for prints from the gallery.

Printer is easy to use and set up. My husband uses this to 3D print pieces for custom made figures, like Power Rangers.

It was cheap and I wanted to try out this crazy world of 3d printing. It's obviously not going to do everything that a Makerbot can do, but this is a good jumping off point.

I did not have good luck with this but thankfully Best Buy was great about letting me return it. Maybe someone who is more experienced would have better luck!

This 3D printer makes wonderful miniatures for our dungeons and dragons games. We bought it as a gift for our friends for christmas. Out of the first starter spool we printed a total of 14 pieces and they were not small and at our 15th print we finally got a low filament warning. The only thing I must warn future buyers about is the little plastic piece that holds the bar axis from moving, it is not listed ANYWHERE in the instructions. We had to watch video after video to figure out what the error 32 was about. But once we did it was smooth sailing. Another suggestion I have to any future buyer is to print the spool holder first as a test piece, that way you dont run out before you have this piece which is crucial for your printer to hold a larger spool of filament. Personally, my friends did not mind that they could only use XYZ filament because on the xyz eshop they price their 1kg spools for only 19 dollars. Which is the cheapest we found it on any site... that's less than 0.0025 cents a gram. Would recommend to any first timer who wants to get into 3d printing.
